Our guest suite sleeps two people very comfortably, and four with the couch. We offer a breakfast of coffee, tea, cereals, fruits and more each day and offer a $25 gift certificate to our nearby BBQ restaurant for bookings over 2 days. See you soon!
We have a 100+ year old house on a corner lot in BC's original capital, New Westminster. The city has a lot to offer, with a gorgeous boardwalk, a community college, college of natural medicine, law courts, shopping district, etc. But if you want to get into Vancouver, you're only a 25 minute skytrain ride away, so you don't need a vehicle!
Our house is cozy and recently renovated - some is still "in progress". Your suite has its own entrance, so your privacy is ensured. And, you're welcome to use our additional amenities such as our laundry and (for summertime stays) our upstairs patio.
We've equipped the suite with fun reading material, board games, and the traditional trappings of a hotel stay (french press coffee and tea to get up with in the morning). We have just put in a 40" TV equipped with cable, sports and HBO so you can get your weekly dose of Game of Thrones. If TV isn't your thing, we have wifi and a netflix account for your favorite movies. We also run a Southern BBQ joint at the nearby public market, and we're including a free meal for 2 in the rental price for stays of 3 days or more.
The bedroom has a spacious closet, double bed and a desk. The kitchen has a toaster, microwave, coffee press and all the plates, cutlery and glassware you need. It's not somewhere that you would cook fancy dinners, but it means you can enjoy take out meals or picnics in your suite without having to eat on the bed!
There's a pull-out couch in the kitchen/living room which can sleep an additional two people in a pinch. The suite is equipped with linens and kitchen wares for four guests if required.
You have access to our laundry, and driveway for your car. We have a lovely deck upstairs for the summer patio season, and if you're really interested in fancy cooking, our upstairs kitchen has a professional gas range and all the equipment you need. We might just ask for a bite!
We just finished a second suite in the adjoining part of our home. If you're looking to accomodate a family of 4, the pair of rooms might just be great for you! Check out our other listing.
Interaction with Guests
We're pretty busy with our nearby shop, but we're always in and out of the house. We've got a two year old, two cats (who have never been in the suite) and some chickens in the back yard. Friends are often over, and we welcome company.
As for you, you're welcome to be as private or as social as works for you. We'd love to help you navigate the city and we're always available if you need advice about your stay or if there's any issues with the space.
Please bear in mind that we are a family that lives in the home while you're here. If there's something we've forgotten or something you need, you should feel at home asking us and we will do our best to help out right away. Like if you find the toaster isn't working or if you would like a fresh set of towels and can't remember where to find them! We work full time at our restaurant, but Airbnb hosting is a huge part of our lives and we love it, so please be open and honest and we will try our best to make sure your experience in our home is top notch.
NEWSFLASH! Not only is there a local, urban winery 500 yards from our house, friends of ours have just opened a craft brewery, Steel and Oak Brewing, two blocks away.
Right now, our neighbourhood is a mix of family residential and some industrial/commercial. We're near a river walk, dog park, shopping and restaurants. Our street is steep!
We are very central for transit in and around the entire Lower Mainland. Use the Skytrain to get into Downtown Vancouver and all points West. The Trans-Canada highway is an easy corridor to get wherever you want by car.
The average transit fare is $4.00 into the city for an adult and less for students.
Gas is hovering around $1.08/L as of December 2014
While we only saw Lindsay and Michael a couple times, as we were busy off in Vancouver for most of our stay, they provided a wonderful experience. The space was great, and well stocked with breakfast goods! It was only a short walk to the skytrain station, from which you can get almost anywhere in Vancouver. I would highly recommend this AirBnB!
This place was really sweet. We thought it was extremely generous of Lindsay and Michael to provide breakfast and juices as well as a free meal at their bbq restaurant! It was a short trip, so unfortunately, we didn't get to meet their daughter but we heard her sweet pitter patter from time to time :)
We would certainly recommend this place. Nice fluffy towels were provided and a the place was kept nice and warm.
Thanks again folks! This was our first AirbnB experience and we are super pleased. A high bar has been set!

It was everything we expected, and we especially enjoyed the owners and the special touches they provided.
Really enjoyed my stay here. Very communicative, welcoming and accommodating hosts.
Lindsay's place was bright & cheery. It was clean and comfy and the snacks were perfect for a busy traveler!
Everything I needed was provided and I liked the extra touch of free roaming chickens in the yard :)
I was very busy, so I didn't get to spend much time with Lindsay or her family but they were very welcoming and I felt right at home!
I booked my parents into this suite for a week when they came to town They absolutely loved the space and will definitely stay again when they come back to visit.

My husband Michael and I live and work in New Westminster. We're transplants from downtown Vancouver and we'd never go back to the BIG city. We're busy people and we love (website hidden) and hosting are some of our favorite past-times, and we've spent most of our lives working in the hospitality industry.
Our home is certainly one "in progress." It's 111 years old, and we adopted it three years ago. It's a bigger job than we ever thought, but usually, we aspire to do one project each week to make it better. Maybe in 20 years, we'll be all finished : )
We've been doing Airbnb now for two years, and it's great. Just so you know, we live in the home with two guest suites on our lower level, so we will likely meet you when you arrive and be here if you have questions or problems. One of the most enjoyable things about Airbnb is meeting everyone and being a part of their journey. We are very easygoing and I don't think anyone needs to worry about imposing on us, using our stuff, chatting with us, etc. We are pretty excited to meet you!
Mosty when we travel, we head on road trips down the West Coast of the US, but we're hoping to head back to Europe one day and do a train trip across Canada. It looks like Asia or South America may one day work their way into our itineraries, we hope.
