Stylish Central Place to Yourself

House - Entire home/apt · Bessborough Hall, Bessborough Parade, Rathmines, Dublin, Ireland

Style, comfort & class are the hallmarks of this unique residence in the chic leafy suburb of Ranelagh. 20 minutes walk to the city centre makes for the perfect combination of quiet safe streets and easy access to all Dublin has to offer.

The Space

This house is less than fifteen years old, and with an architectural twist on most Irish houses, it was built with the living area upstairs, and a large balcony area, to provide for beautiful natural lighting. There are two comfortable double bedrooms downstairs, with one en-suite and one main bathroom, both of which are recently installed and in pristine condition, and a secure parking space for one small car. The first floor contains a living area, balcony, and a kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven and ironing equipment. Business travellers have been particularly enthusiastic, with easy access to the city centre, high speed wi-fi, and plenty of space to relax if the opportunity arises!

Guest Access

Access all areas, to fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, to warm living space with 25MB wifi, to comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Interaction with Guests

I love to welcome guests on arrival, and to provide helpful advice at any time throughout the stay, to make sure that guests find the best that Dublin has to offer.

The Neighborhood

There is a local shop and traditional Irish pub just twenty seconds walk from the house. Nearby, Rathmines is a busy village known for its ethnic diversity, which has all the amenities one could require, including four supermarkets for all budgets, a gym with swimming pool, a cinema and plenty of eateries. Prices are €6 for the pool, €6.50 for a gym visit or group fitness class. For a more sophisticated experience, head to uber-chic Ranelagh which hosts some of Dublin's best restaurants and bars.

Getting around

The Dublin bike system is the most pleasant way to see the city, and two Dublin bike passes are provided for unlimited free use of the service during your stay. The main city centre shopping thoroughfare, Grafton Street, is just a fifteen minute walk from the house. Nearby tram stops and bus stops are available.

Other Things to Note

Missed any of the best picture nominations for the Oscars this year? They're all on the media player for viewing on the television, plus lots of other films to cater for all tastes. If reading is more of your thing, the bookshelves are stacked with numerous books from Catch-22 to Harry Potter. Choose a recipe from the range of twenty cookbooks, and enjoy cooking in the clean and well-equipped kitchen. Pictionary, Cranium, Backgammon and a range of other board games are all available.

  • Very nice duplex in a quiet area. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms make it a great choice for a group of people.

  • Alan's place was great! On a quiet street in Rathmines but just steps away from the Grand Canal (which provides a great running path). Alan was attentive and always willing to provide helpful tips. Great living space on the upper floor with lots of natural light.

  • Alan was a fantastic host, firstly quick at responding to my request initially but really stood out at being very helpful with directions and assistance for getting to the apartment - he even left us a bottle of wine as we arrived late evening! The apartment is gorgeous, lots of light and was perfect for our stay. We used the DB bikes the entire weekend which Alan provides free, which is a lovely touch. Loved Dublin and great apartment, great host.

  • We stayed at Alan's lovely apartment for 6 days and enjoyed every minute. Excellent location just off the Grand Canal and within a few minutes walk to the restaurants and bars of trendy Ranelagh. Perfect spot if you don't want to be sleeping amongst the madness of Temple Bar, but to have it within a comfortable 25 minute walk or 2 easy stops on the tram. The bedrooms are simple but small however the living space upstairs is sunny and open plan and opens out onto the terrace creating a beautiful space to relax in. Alan was super accommodating with checkin and out times and was lovely to chat to.

  • Our second time staying at Alan's place was as smooth as the first. Great communication and a very accommodating host.

  • We were in Dublin for three-days and were fortunate enough to find Alan's place. It is a beautiful 2-bedroom home in a wonderful location, walking distance into Rathmines town (restaurants, cafes, Swan shopping centre all there) and across the canal it's a nice 15-20 min walk into the city centre especially on a sunny day. The place is a hidden gem and it's surroundings are surprisingly quiet (which means a good night sleep and very comfy beds) and the neighbors are pleasant. Most importantly, excellent wifi!
And not to forget, Alan was such a lovely host, very approachable and kind, quick to answer any of our texts or messages. He left a packet of how-to's and handy information about the home and also the city. It was also sweet of him to leave two Dublin bike passes for us to use. All in all, we were really happy with our stay and would recommend Alan's place to anyone who's visiting Dublin. The next time we pass by, we'll definitely come back here again!

  • Alan's place is the perfect little getaway. My boyfriend and I stayed there before our trip to Barcelona and liked it so much we booked it again upon our return. The place is light, there is plenty of room with all the mod-cons you would expect. And there is a little balcony area to enjoy if the weather permits.

The apartment is located in Rathmines which is close enough to the city centre to walk (About 10 minutes) but a nice distance away if you're looking to explore the other areas Dublin has to offer. There are a lot of great restaurants, coffee shops and sights just minutes from the apartment.

Alan was so nice and friendly and really accommodating. I cannot recommend him or his apartment more. And trust me on the location, I'm a Dubliner!

  • I cannot recommend both the apartment and host enough. The place was homely, clean and tidy, peaceful, and had all the amenities anyone could need for a great stay in Dublin. It is within walking distance of some great bars, restaurants, and shops. You can walk into the city centre within 30 minutes or grab one of the many buses.

Alan went beyond the call of duty as a host. He not only answered all of many questions but did so promptly. He was unbelievably flexible with some of my requests which greatly reduced the stress of working full time in a new city whilst staying at his place.

Book now without hesitation ! Thanks Alan !

  • We are strongly recommend Alan. Everything was exellent! Alan took care about us, showed us great hospitality and paid attention for our needs (like taxi to the airport). We had really good apartment with 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room. We can wash our clothes, watch TV and cook breakfast (shops are near from this place), and there is parking place (don't rent big car :) ). This apartment isn't so far from city centre. Alan met us and left us very useful list of tips like - where is closest shop. We can call him if we'd had questions. We slept well, ate well, had a really great time. Thank you, Alan!
