Original craftsman located in Dundarave, 5 minute walk to the beach & Dundarave village shops.
Our stay at Miriam's house in West Vancouver was absolutely fabulous! The house is beautiful and the view is fantastic. We are from Vancouver and were there to celebrate Christmas and New Years with family and friends. We hosted my husband's family on Christmas Eve and my family on Christmas night for dinner. Both were fairly large groups and we had plenty of space for all. Everybody raved about how beautiful the house was.
We really appreciated the Christmas decorations and tree be up for us too! I was a little worried before we left home that it would be weird to spend Christmas in someone else's home with their decorations but Miriam's home was so simply and tastefully decorated that it wasn't weird at all.
Being able to walk down to Dundarave from the house was fabulous. We could walk down and wander and look in the shops, pick up a couple of things at the grocery store, grab a coffee, and walk "home".
Our home away from home for Christmas this year was perfect!
As a first time user of Airbnb and visitor to Vancouver we couldn't have been more delighted with a private home rental. This comfortable, cozy and well-appointed home is set on a hill with sweeping views over Dundarave towards the bay. The town - which feels more like a village - sits one street up from the beach and offers several wonderful restaurants, cafes, organic food markets and shops. The Beach house, which sits right on the beach, was our favorite for brunch and dinner. We were welcomed by our hosts with a personal note, recommendations for dining and sight-seeing, a wonderful bottle of wine and specialty coffee.
The neighborhood is the kind of neighborhood you want to move in to. A combination of traditional and Pacific northwest-style contemporary homes are terraced up and down the steep hills of Dundarave, each afforded sweeping views of the bay. The owners have done a lovely job of decorating their home in coastal cottage style with pleasing, soothing colors, an eclectic and attractive mix of styles (with a hint of British Colonial) and ample seating for relaxation and dining. The open plan living area boasts two dining tables; there is a stone fireplace to warm-up by on a cool evening; a charming windowseat to take in the view and read a book; and hidden electronics for entertainment. But best of all are the walls of windows to take in the spectacular view, which lead to a furnished balcony. Upstairs are three bedrooms of varying sizes, all with beds that sleep two. There is one upstairs bathroom with its original clawfoot tub (and a greenhouse ceiling!); on the main level is a full bath with shower, and another on the lower level, which includes a media room and access to the jacuzzi and beautiful terraced gardens. At the bottom of the rear garden is a garage accessible from an alleyway.
Our stay in West Vancouver was made more special by having the opportunity to stay in this lovely vacation house in one of the smartest sections of West Vancouver. Only a few minutes from Vancouver proper it feels worlds away - peaceful, comfortable, and expressive of a life well lived. Not only would I love to return here to vacation, I wouldn't mind returning here for good!
