  • There really is so little space here to adequately describe the wonderful experience I had renting from Joseph and Huifen during my recent trip to Montreal. From the very moment I landed, I was treated to positive, professional, and attentive guidance and service. Joseph was kind enough to take time out of his day to pick me up from the Berri-UQAM metro station and not only drop me off at the rental property, but also provide a fun and informative tour of the city. As someone visiting Montreal for the very first time, this tour was greatly appreciated because, even with the finest map and preparation, I tend to get lost.
Turning to the rental property itself, I was more then pleased by the quality of the room as well as the neighborhood. The location on St. Catherine Street is within a few blocks of a grocery store and other shops useful for stocking up on the needs for everyday living. However, you will be pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail Joseph and Huifen place into the room itself as well as your stay. You will find the room stocked with a number of convenient items, such as shampoos and towels, which are always welcome to a weary traveler. Further, the room is located within a block of an important bus line and within five blocks of the Joliette metro station, both options provided for a pleasant morning and afternoon walk.
I will close by reflecting also on the personability of the hosts. They genuinely care about those renting from them, taking a keen interest in your trip to the city, and suggesting places to visit that might interest you. Further, I was greeted by kind gifts of wine, sweets, and cold cuts during my stay that at times tempted me to not even leave the room!
As a visiting scholar in Montreal, this rental opportunity is a first class experience for an economy price, and I firmly recommend it for a short term or long term stay! Should I ever need to stay in Montreal again, this will be my first choice.

  • This was actually my first AirBnB-experience and it turned out to be a very positive one, I was very surprised by the very expensive hotels in Montreal so I tried AirBnB and was immediately charmed by Huifen and Josephs offer; cheap, central and personal service. And it turned out to be great! They sent a lot of good information on how to arrive Montreal, and Joseph even picked me up at bus station and showed me around the city for an hour! This helped me a lot when I spent the next week travelling around. The studio flat had everything I needed and a very good internett access too, so I recommend you all to spend time there. It is a little bit walk to nearest metro station (10-15 min) but for me it was interesting to live a bit outside the city centre and close to Olympic Park, Botanical garden and a real Montreal neighbourhood with friendly people. It only took half an hour to arrive in the middle of city centre too, so I cannot complain. Dear Huifen and Joseph, thank you so much for your hospitality, and I hope to see you again next time I'm on holiday or on a business trip. I will choose you any day, instead of a hotel. Thanks!

  • What an incredible stay. Joseph and Hui Fen were the best hosts anybody could hope for! They always had our best interest in mind and did whatever they could to provide us with the best experience of Montreal. The apartment was truly incredible, it was clean and fully furnished with all the supplies and appliances any could possibly need during their stay. I can't wait to go back and visit again!

  • We arrived here very early in the morning(1:00 am) and Huifen was still waiting for us. She had prepared the cooked noodle, the juice and the fruits. The shampoo, the soap were all prepared.

We have spent quite a few happy days there. The Rue Ontario is very near the apt. And you can find the Metro supermarket, a lot of restaurants, café, etc.

The metro station Joliette(from where you can be to the downtown in 15 min.) is the nearest station. You can be there by bus or on foot.

Finally, I would like to say thanks to Huifen and hope you all having a good time

  • My stay with Joseph and Huifen was great! They were excellent hosts and picked me up at Central Station and were accommodating to the delays of the train (we were held at customs for a long time and then had to travel at a slow rate due to signaling, still a scenic ride). Upon pick up, I was given a tour of some of the locations I might want to check out, ie. Crescent St., St. Catherines, St. Laurent, St. Denis, the shops and businesses close to the apartment and the park that is home to the Olympic Stadium, Botanical Garden and Biodome. The tour was very good for getting my bearings on the layout of the city. I was also given a bottle of wine and some fruit, which was welcome after the long train ride!

The apartment was the size of a NYC studio, which was perfect for me as I was traveling alone. Very clean. The bed was comfortable and there was a futon/couch for any TV viewing that happened. The kitchen was good sized and meals could definitely be prepared if you're looking to save some money on food costs. Shampoo and body wash were provided, as well as clean towels. There's a grocery store about 3 blocks from the apartment, several corner stores, and other shops to pick up any necessities you may need for your stay. I was also told that there are bigger apartments available if I ever return with friends or family. Next time I head to Montreal, I will be taking them up on this! Joseph and Huifen were attentive and available had I needed anything for the duration of my 6 day trip. However, everything was taken care of and fine with the apartment and I never had any problems for them.

I felt that this was a great hub for my trip, which included going to the jazz fest almost every day, visiting several museums, and involved lots of walking around to take in the city. (My vacations don't involve spending a lot of time in a hotel room, although you could comfortable do so in this apartment) The apt is about 5 easy blocks to the Joliette metro station. There is also a bus stop at the end of the block that will get you to another metro station that is one stop closer to downtown. The BIXI bikes were also a great way to get around and there is a BIXI station across the street from the apartment. There were usually bikes there or 3 blocks up at Ave. Valois/Rue Ontario. When I was going out for the day, I'd usually take the metro downtown, then ride a Bixi bike back because the metro would be closed for the evening.

To sum this all up: Great Hosts - Clean, Comfortable Apt - Great Hub for Transit and Getting Around Town

This apartment was a great choice and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends who are looking for a simple, clean place to lay their heads down at night.

  • Very nice hosts!
Joseph picked me up from the train station and showed me around the city even though it was a late evening hour.
The apartment has a bus stop right out of the door, that takes you to metro station in about 15 mins.
There are shops and restaurants at East Ontario some 10 mins walk from the location.
The neighbourhood is quiet and appeared to be safe for walking even during late hours.
The place is not big , but very cozy and has everything you need for staying.
I can't say much about kitchen because I was not using it but it appears to be equipped ok for those that need it.
All in all a highly recommended place

  • Zhang and Joseph were good hosts. Great location as the bus stop is directy in front of the house, it takes 10 minutes to the metro station Papineau and another 5 min to get you downtown. They were very helpful, friendly and reachable at any time, the apartment offers enough space to feel confi, the kitchen is well stored and includes everything you need to cook, very good price for the attributes offered.
