We love sharing our home with you! It is a comfortable, beautiful, and accommodating place that can sleep up to 10 & has 4 distinct living areas to entertain or be quiet in. Come join us, we are local to everything Central Coast.
Welcome to Happiness House! Summer has lovingly named it and every one of our over 200 nights of guests, have agreed! We are located in beautiful Morro Bay, which is the gateway to the picturesque California Highway 1 and offers the perfect location for enjoying all of the rich culture and beauty of the Central Coast region.
This offering is for our ENTIRE home. It is our family home that we want to share with you. We would also ask for you to treat it like you would your own home. If you are looking for a big party weekend, we regret that this isn’t the town or place for you. If, however, you are looking to explore the wineries, that is another story! Our neighbors love our guests because they are respectful, interesting, and kind and we want to maintain the fabulous and quirky neighborhood that we live in. Please try to limit cars to 3, they will fit in our driveway easily, since there is no street parking.
We are a great home base for those wanting a relaxing and rejuvenating break from the busyness of city life or for those making the iconic drive up or down historic and scenic Highway 1. We are a short drive from Hearst Castle, Big Sur, spectacular Montana De Oro State Park, the happiest city in the U.S--San Luis Obispo, and the warm sands of Pismo Beach. Most think our area is only for surfing and walking the beach, but there are amazing cycling rides, challenging rock climbing sites, and lots of hiking trails with ethereal destinations. The Morro tidepools, with multi-colored starfish, sea anemones and hundreds of sand dollars, is just a short walk away. You can find out more about Morro Bay on the social media site that every friend loves/happinesshouse.
For those of you who are foodies and wine connoisseurs, the drive from our home through some of the most beautiful wine country is phenomenal. You can go wine tasting or even visit one of the newer microbreweries in the area. Groups have used our home for wine tasting tours, harbor wine cruises, and art tours. You might consider getting one of the limousine companies to chauffeur your group. It makes for a lot of safe fun.
Some will simply want to stay home and enjoy the quiet, with the large balcony, rooftop deck and front patio to soak in the sun. We have three bedrooms--the master with a California king, that guests rave about, two downstairs with a queen in one and two twins in the other. Outside the master bedroom is a futon in the upstairs den that makes into a full size bed. All beds and the futon have fairly new mattresses that are very comfortable. We also have another futon downstairs in the main living area. We have a small house built on 3 stories with all kinds of outdoor living spaces that make it amazing. While our bathrooms are small, the upstairs is big enough for a jacuzzi tub for relaxing in at the end of your day. The downstairs bathroom also has a shower. We vow to you that you will always find our home clean and comfortable. We work very hard to take what we have and make it beautiful and tidy for our guests.
Please remember, this is our family's home. We love having the opportunity to share it with you and hope that we can continue to for a long long time. As Airbnb guests ourselves, we value being a part of a sharing community and hope you do too.
By renting the whole home, you get use of the whole house! (see better details in the space sections) There are three bedrooms that sleep two in each, two full bathrooms, an upstairs den with a double futon, and a downstairs living area with another double futon. We also have a great rooftop deck for lounging, sleeping, having breakfast and/or evening wine. It has views of the Pacific and the hills to the east. The only space that is off-limits is our garage. I'm sorry we can not offer laundry service.
Interaction with Guests
We are usually gone when guests stay in the whole house. We will make arrangements in advance for getting keys to you. We only ask that you do basic cleaning and care for our home as you would your own. We love sharing our space and want to be able to do so for many years to come. If we are in town during your stay, we may see one another, but if not, enjoy your stay and take in all the culture of our lovely village by the sea.
Our neighborhood is walking distance from the beach and our home has a great view of the Pacific ocean. We are exactly halfway between San Francisco and LA for those making that journey.
We do have a city bus and also a trolly in the summer that will take you into town.
Other Things to Note
Morro Bay is where the sun spends the winter. This means that while everyone else is experiencing cold weather, we get blue skies and sunshine. During the summer we enjoy the same temperatures, but there may be fog to cool you down and give you a break from inland heat.
Please NOTE that Morro Bay closes early. You will not be able to get dinner after 8 except for fast food in town. Highway 1 from Monterey can take longer than expected, so please plan ahead for food and for timing.
Please treat our home as you would treat yours, plain and simple. This is our family's home.
Our kitchen is only a couple years old so we ask that you treat the cupboards with care. You can use whatever cooking utensils we have, but ask that you wipe everything down when done cooking to avoid unnecessary stains on the wood counter. If you can't find something, please feel free to message or call us. We want to help you and understand that sometimes our obvious, isn't always obvious for you.
We had a fantastic stay! The beds are comfy with good linens. Spent mornings on the roof deck soaking up the sun and views. The kitchen was super cool and well laid out for food preparation. Loved this house and hope to stay there again when in town. Would have been handy to have a salad spinner, colander and electric mixer. Otherwise the house was well equipped for every need! Thanks for a very successful family gathering. -Bonnie
Troy & Summer were very responsive and their house is lovely and well located. There was plenty of space for our family of 4, with space available for at least 2 more. We explored the coast and SLO and had a welcoming rooftop patio to return to. And Taco Temple was a great recommendation for lunch on our arrival.
Happiness House lives up to its hype. We had a wonderful and relaxing time at the home. We were able to cook and enjoy each others company without being on top of one another. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the views break taking.
My family had a great weekend at the happiness house. The warm weather in mid-November made it perfect was checking out Morro Rock, bountiful tide pools and nearby Montaña de Oro as well as for catching a rooftop sunset. TWe especially loved playing dice games around the large kitchen area surrounded by bar stools. The house was very clean with great sized rooms, plenty of sleeping accommodations, and was a perfect home base for our larger group. Summer was quick to answer all of my questions. First Airbnb was a great success! Thank you happiness house!!
The entire experience with the Happiness House was so wonderful! The hosts were super friendly and easy to communicate with, the house was adorable--clean, stocked with towels and coffee and tea, and the roof-deck is amazing. We had coffee up there and were so happy. We were there just after a storm and there were rainbows over the ocean, migrating Monarch butterflies flying around, and the view of Morro Rock was stunning. The neighborhood is nice--about 2 miles from the main town center. I came to Morro Bay with some friends for a triathlon and got hooked--definitely want to come back!
What a fabulous time we had at the Happiness House! We had 6 adults this past weekend and we felt we could have had at least one or two more people join us. Plenty of room! The roof top patio was great for star gazing and late afternoon game playing. Had trouble getting into the lock box and got phone calls and texts from the owner and their friend within minutes. Highly recommend this home for your next trip to the Central Coast.
An absolutely wonderful experience. Everything was clean, cozy, comfortable, and it was great being so close to the beach and activities around the area. All of us loved it and would highly recommend it. Thank you Summer, and Lisa!

We are a family of four who love being in Morro Bay. There is so much to do here and we enjoy it all. The beauty of Morro Bay is salve to our souls and we would love to share that with you.
Summer and Troy are both educators, entrepreneurs, artists, and wannabe world travelers. We have taught in public and private schools and, as a result, we have moved a number of times over our 25 years of marriage. We both enjoy reading, walking, drinking coffee and having lively conversations about important ideas.
Daughter Faith-Marie is the animal lover of our family. We used to have chickens on site to provide eggs, but we have had to loan our chickens out to some friends who live local. Faith-Marie loves the outdoors and playing on the computer (seem contradictory, but go figure).
Gracie is our social butterfly. She spent a six-month exchange in France getting immersed in French language and culture when she was 12. She loves to share her love of French with our French-speaking guests when our schedules allow for us to be here at the same time.
As a family, we love camping in our Eurovan, hanging out around Morro Bay, traveling, reading aloud classic books, and meeting interesting people from around the world. Our family loves to pursue the timeless virtues of hospitality and gratitude. We think this makes us great hosts and visitors. Our family motto is "Everyone has a story.". It a joy to be a part of yours.
