About This Listing
We love sharing our home with you! It is a comfortable, beautiful, and accommodating place that can sleep up to 10 & has 4 distinct living areas to entertain or be quiet in. Come join us, we are local to everything Central Coast.
Welcome to Happiness House! Summer has lovingly named it and every one of our over 200 nights of guests, have agreed! We are located in beautiful Morro Bay, which is the gateway to the picturesque California Highway 1 and offers the perfect location for enjoying all of the rich culture and beauty of the Central Coast region.
This offering is for our ENTIRE home. It is our family home that we want to share with you. We would also ask for you to treat it like you would your own home. If you are looking for a big party weekend, we regret that this isn’t the town or place for you. If, however, you are looking to explore the wineries, that is another story! Our neighbors love our guests because they are respectful, interesting, and kind and we want to maintain the fabulous and quirky neighborhood that we live in. Please try to limit cars to 3, they will fit in our driveway easily, since there is no street parking.
We are a great home base for those wanting a relaxing and rejuvenating break from the busyness of city life or for those making the iconic drive up or down historic and scenic Highway 1. We are a short drive from Hearst Castle, Big Sur, spectacular Montana De Oro State Park, the happiest city in the U.S--San Luis Obispo, and the warm sands of Pismo Beach. Most think our area is only for surfing and walking the beach, but there are amazing cycling rides, challenging rock climbing sites, and lots of hiking trails with ethereal destinations. The Morro tidepools, with multi-colored starfish, sea anemones and hundreds of sand dollars, is just a short walk away. You can find out more about Morro Bay on the social media site that every friend loves/happinesshouse.
For those of you who are foodies and wine connoisseurs, the drive from our home through some of the most beautiful wine country is phenomenal. You can go wine tasting or even visit one of the newer microbreweries in the area. Groups have used our home for wine tasting tours, harbor wine cruises, and art tours. You might consider getting one of the limousine companies to chauffeur your group. It makes for a lot of safe fun.
Some will simply want to stay home and enjoy the quiet, with the large balcony, rooftop deck and front patio to soak in the sun. We have three bedrooms--the master with a California king, that guests rave about, two downstairs with a queen in one and two twins in the other. Outside the master bedroom is a futon in the upstairs den that makes into a full size bed. All beds and the futon have fairly new mattresses that are very comfortable. We also have another futon downstairs in the main living area. We have a small house built on 3 stories with all kinds of outdoor living spaces that make it amazing. While our bathrooms are small, the upstairs is big enough for a jacuzzi tub for relaxing in at the end of your day. The downstairs bathroom also has a shower. We vow to you that you will always find our home clean and comfortable. We work very hard to take what we have and make it beautiful and tidy for our guests.
Please remember, this is our family's home. We love having the opportunity to share it with you and hope that we can continue to for a long long time. As Airbnb guests ourselves, we value being a part of a sharing community and hope you do too.
By renting the whole home, you get use of the whole house! (see better details in the space sections) There are three bedrooms that sleep two in each, two full bathrooms, an upstairs den with a double futon, and a downstairs living area with another double futon. We also have a great rooftop deck for lounging, sleeping, having breakfast and/or evening wine. It has views of the Pacific and the hills to the east. The only space that is off-limits is our garage. I'm sorry we can not offer laundry service.
Interaction with Guests
We are usually gone when guests stay in the whole house. We will make arrangements in advance for getting keys to you. We only ask that you do basic cleaning and care for our home as you would your own. We love sharing our space and want to be able to do so for many years to come. If we are in town during your stay, we may see one another, but if not, enjoy your stay and take in all the culture of our lovely village by the sea.
Our neighborhood is walking distance from the beach and our home has a great view of the Pacific ocean. We are exactly halfway between San Francisco and LA for those making that journey.
We do have a city bus and also a trolly in the summer that will take you into town.
Other Things to Note
Morro Bay is where the sun spends the winter. This means that while everyone else is experiencing cold weather, we get blue skies and sunshine. During the summer we enjoy the same temperatures, but there may be fog to cool you down and give you a break from inland heat.
Please NOTE that Morro Bay closes early. You will not be able to get dinner after 8 except for fast food in town. Highway 1 from Monterey can take longer than expected, so please plan ahead for food and for timing.
We live in a somewhat remote area and our internet is not always reliable. When you live in Morro Bay, you just get used to it. I'm sorry if it acting up when you are here, there isn't anything other than resetting it that we can do.
Please treat our home as you would treat yours, plain and simple. This is our family's home.
Our kitchen is only a couple years old so we ask that you treat the cupboards with care. You can use whatever cooking utensils we have, but ask that you wipe everything down when done cooking to avoid unnecessary stains on the wood counter. If you can't find something, please feel free to message or call us. We want to help you and understand that sometimes our obvious, isn't always obvious for you.
Happiness house indeed! My wife and our parents visited Morro bay and had an awesome time. Everything was looked into in great details - a well stocked kitchen, lots of towels, comfortable beds, and a good set of instructions. If we are to visit Morro bay again, we definitely would want to stay here, and would gladly recommend the same to everyone else. Thanks Summer and Troy!
We had a great time at Happiness House, celebrating my mom's birthday for the weekend. The house is whimsical and well maintained. They have everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals, the beds were very comfortable, and the little notes left behind told you where to find the essentials. The few neighbors we spoke with were also very welcoming.
We are so thankful that we found the Happiness House! It was the perfect spot and perfect space for our group. The rooms were cute and comfortable, plenty of clean linens and towels for all eleven of us! The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. The bay was within easy walking distance from the house. But without a doubt, the best part was how easy and accommodating Summer and Troy were, very communicative hosts. We would stay at the Happiness House again in a heartbeat!

About the Host, Summer And Troy
We are a family of four who love being in Morro Bay. There is so much to do here and we enjoy it all. The beauty of Morro Bay is salve to our souls and we would love to share that with you.
Summer and Troy are both educators, entrepreneurs, artists, and wannabe world travelers. We have taught in public and private schools and, as a result, we have moved a number of times over our 25 years of marriage. We both enjoy reading, walking, drinking coffee and having lively conversations about important ideas.
Daughter Faith-Marie is the animal lover of our family. We used to have chickens on site to provide eggs, but we have had to loan our chickens out to some friends who live local. Faith-Marie loves the outdoors and playing on the computer (seem contradictory, but go figure).
Gracie is our social butterfly. She spent a six-month exchange in France getting immersed in French language and culture when she was 12. She loves to share her love of French with our French-speaking guests when our schedules allow for us to be here at the same time.
As a family, we love camping in our Eurovan, hanging out around Morro Bay, traveling, reading aloud classic books, and meeting interesting people from around the world. Our family loves to pursue the timeless virtues of hospitality and gratitude. We think this makes us great hosts and visitors. Our family motto is "Everyone has a story.". It a joy to be a part of yours.
