The Space

I have a lovely double bedroom available in my flat in Farringdon/Clerkenwell, a popular central location with bags of character, things to see and do and places to go. Karl Marx and Charles Dickens liked it - and so will you.
Set back on a quiet residential street, this contemporary flat is so, so quiet and offers a serene and comfortable space in central London. It's a small double bedroom but there's bags of space in the lounge, bathroom, kitchen and the patio, which overlooks a rear garden area and off-street parking - so no passing traffic, just parking. It really is so so quiet for central London.
Staying here means you have as much peace and quiet as you want or find as much as excitement as you want within just a few minutes walk from the apartment. There are bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, and art galleries and museums such as the Barbican nearby.
You could walk to many of the attractions of London: Tate Modern and St Pauls (15 minutes), the City (10 minutes), Covent Garden/West End (20 minutes). Plus, as it's central Zone 1 it's cheaper and quicker to travel around. You could pick up one of the bike rentals - there's a bike station next to the flat - for as little as a pound a day, which is a great way to see the City. This is especially good at weekends, when the City and central London traffic goes to the country for the weekend. You may well find long and empty roads on a Saturday and Sunday.
Ten minutes walk takes you to Old Street and Shoreditch, which offer even more entertainment options and lots of clubs and late night bars. A short bus ride away takes you further into Dalson, Broadway Market and London Fields. If you like people watching, this area is where, it is claimed, you can see some of the best young fashionistas and artists wandering around being 'arty'. There are some great Vietnamese and Turkish restaurants in this area, too - and lots of bars and events happenings.
I've lived in London for more than 15 years and I feel lucky to live in Clerkenwell. I do believe it may be one of the best places to live in the capital.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was great!

The flat is well located - easy walk to three different tube stations and buses. Virginia was very helpful before and during my visit - gave me excellent instructions on various options of travel from the airport and lots of advice while I was there! There was even a travel power adapter in the drawer - so helpful.

I was able to extend my visit while I was there, thanks for the flexibility Virginia! The room was a nice size for me and my suitcase. I had a lovely time. Highly recommended!

  • This is my fourth or fifth time staying with Virginia. This is a place in a great location in London. It has provided me with a lot of joy... a nice point to begin the discovery of the city.

  • Virginia has been a wonderful host. She helped me with practicalities, gave me amazing suggestions for christmas shopping and even shared with me a delicious sunday's roast meal! Virginia has been very flexible with the check-in time since my flight was delayed.
Her flat is incredibly well located in Clerkenwell, a very nice and safe neighborhood in the hearth of central London. The location is at the same time very quiet, away from major roads, and very well connected with Barbican and Farringdon tube and train station at less than 10 mins walk, plus busses. Many food stores, shops and restaurants nearby.
The room, although small was clean and corresponding to description and photos published. Same for the rest of the flat. Being the living room, kitchen and garden (!) shared spaces the room's size wasn't an issue at all.
Overall I'm very satisfied with my 10 days stay at Virginia's and definitely recommend her as a host.

  • My stay in Lizzie's place was perfect. She is a great host and communicated clearly throughout my stay. The apartment is well located in London, close to the tube and near many pubs and coffee shops. The room in her home was comfortable and she even left a packet of "things to do" in London, along with the latest time out which was thoughtful. I would highly recommend her flat and would stay again on a future trip to London.

  • A beautiful place and an outstanding host - great communication and hospitality above and beyond. Can't recommend Virginia highly enough.

  • Virginia was such a gracious host for my brief stay in London. My schedule was a bit hectic and I had to check in late. She was extremely accommodating and was able to let me into the flat late in the evening.

The flat itself was great and SO quiet -- which I greatly appreciated! Everything was clean, tidy, and exactly as described.

I was heading to Dublin the next day and Virginia was able to give a fabulous pub recommendation as well! She is a true host! I would highly recommend (and have already recommended) a stay with Virginia during your next visit to London.

  • Virginia was a wonderful host. This was my first airbnb experience and it was a very positive one, largely due to her. She always made sure to give me insider tips on the best sites to see and how to navigate the tube and bus system (which can be daunting at first). She also pointed me to Kennedy's of London (there's one right around the corner)--best fish & chips! Very fresh. She was ever making my life easier, especially when I had to stow my luggage at her place for a few hours after checkout. The apartment itself is neat, clean, and very suitable for a single traveller. The location was very convenient for many of the main sights. And last, but not at all least, she's great to chat with. Thanks for a warm welsome and wonderful stay!

  • I had an awesome stay with Virginia in her lovely apartment. It is very quiet at night; there is no noise at all. Virginia is a gorgeous host and really made me feel home. Even when I needed a dress for a party she wanted to help me out with her wardrobe. Very kind!
