Designed by Laki Senanayake, who also formerly designed some of the Sri Lankan currency notes, the Regent House is impeccably decorated. This triple AC room also has direct access to the garden with its wonderful views. Don't miss out on their 5 course dinner, prepared by Susila. This is a high end small boutique hotel with charm and excellent service. As the Insight Guide says "An unusual guesthouse with good tatse: beautifully presented meals, an amazing discovery".

The space
This beautifully designed guest house has been designed by Laki Senanayake, by a designer who formerly designed some of the currency notes of Sri Lanka. It is located in the Kandy Hills, about 1 km west of Kandy Town via a windy road.

This triple bedroom consists of one double bed and one single bed, suitable for a maximum of 3 people.

There is AC and a ceiling fan in the room to help you keep the room cool.

The rooms are roomy and they have free wifi, enabling you to keep in touch with family and friends.

The private attached bathroom contains a toilet, douche, wash basin and a hot water shower.

Apart from the comfy bedroom atmosphere, the bedroom looks right out onto a small garden, and there is even a table and chair which is useful for having a tea, writing or reading.

Photos have been taken from Room 16.

Where you’ll be

Kandy, Central Province, Sri Lanka

It takes 10 to 15 minutes by car to reach Kandy Town.

Kandy is the second largest city after Colombo, with a population of 125,000. It is located in the Central Province. As such the city offers both a mixture of the old and the new.

Indeed the number one tourist attraction in the area is the Temple of the Tooth Relic, awarded the status of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. It flanks Kandy Lake which is a major attraction in itself.

The city comes alive in the Perahera Festival in early August for 10 days as elephants are guided down the street amongst music and dancing.

Other places of interest are several cemetries - the Commonwealth War Cemetry and the Kandy Garrison Cemetry, the Kandy View Point looking down on the Lake especially beautiful at night time, and the large Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddhist Statue, a mammoth type statue also overlooking the lake with excellent views.
