Description

The space

We are honored to have been named in 2016 as Airbnb's "#1 most wish-listed property in the world"!!! Thank you!

Centrally located within the heart of intown Atlanta, the treehouses are a hidden gem. The subject of numerous TV and magazine features (including "Treehouse Masters: Ultimate Treehouse IV"), they are often described as being the most relaxing, romantic, dreamy and unique place you'll ever stay. What could be better than falling asleep in the trees and waking up to birds singing around you--all within the city limits?

The treehouse consists of 3 separate rooms, each connected by rope-bridges. Descriptions of the 3 rooms are below.

Living Room: Antique furnishings including 80 year old butterfly-filled windows; antique furnishings, and a balcony overlooking an acre of lush woods.

Bedroom: Sleeps 2. The Loblolly double bed is fitted with the world's best bedding - cozy, organic linens from Parachute. The bed is equipped with wheels so it can either be rolled out onto a platform that overlooks the stream below or inside the room. Vintage decor and natural artifacts add as much to the comfort of the setting as they do to its charm.

Deck: Open to the elements and immersed in thick greenery, the deck surrounds the "Old Man", a 150 year old Southern Short-Leaf Pine tree--the largest of the 7 trees that support the treehouse suite--who watches over the property and its guests.

BATHROOM IS LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT/LOWER LEVEL OF OUR PRIVATE HOME. GUESTS WILL HAVE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO IT DURING THEIR STAY. The treehouses and main house share a lot and are within a 30 second walk to one another.

Guest access

Guests will have free parking in our driveway and access to a full, private, indoor bathroom inside the basement of the main house.

Interaction with guests

Other than showing you around when you arrive and bringing coffee in the morning, we'll completely respect your privacy and leave you alone. However, because the the treehouses and our home share a lot, we are readily available and close by if you need anything.

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is a quiet, residential place. While our lot is located in a particularly peaceful, private and lush part of the area, it is important to remember that it is in the middle of intown Atlanta. And while very private, you can see other residential buildings from the treehouses.. While you may hear the occasional siren, normal neighborhood noise or train whistle during your stay, the most common sound is that of silence broken only by birds, frogs and the wind in the trees.

Getting around

We highly recommend renting a car during your stay but if you prefer public transportation, we are about a 10 minute taxi-ride from both the Lindbergh and Arts Center MARTA train stops.

Other things to note

***PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION AND RULES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION.*** We want to make sure that your stay meets your expectations... When making a request, please tell us a little about yourselves, your interest in the treehouse and indicate that you have read the full listing and house rules... Thank you!

*** The treehouses are open to the elements.... There is a fan for warm weather and an excellent mattress warmer for cooler evenings... But as the bed roll out onto a platform (and rolls in for rain) there is no air conditioning or heat...

There are truly no words that can even begin to describe the magic of this place, but here I try! The second we set foot on the first stair of the treehouse it felt as if time had completely stopped and we were enveloped in tranquility and relaxation. When sipping our morning tea and coffee on the balcony of the treehouse was more incredible and breathtaking than sipping our coffee on the balcony in Paris, you KNOW you have found a true gem! One unlike any other! You feels as though you are worlds away, but you can get in your car and be in the city in just a couple of minutes! Peter was the most gracious and welcoming host I have ever encountered, and you can tell his passion lies within making sure his guests are pleased to the fullest extent! From the STUNNING fresh flowers he places throughout the treehouse to the welcome basket of delicious snacks and wine, to the hot coffee and tea in the morning; I'm not sure how we even managed to leave! This place is the epitome of serenity and the only thing we regret is not staying longer! We already miss The Old Man (a 167 year old pine tree) and Daisy and Haskell! Who am I kidding we miss every square foot of this place and we can't wait to return! Don't keep scrolling, BOOK IT NOW!!! I PROMISE you will not regret it and you will forever get to cherish the memory of the vacation of your life!

Narnia is the best was to describe this place for us. We drove through everything familiar to us and with the ride down a driveway, were taken to another place completely. We were welcomed and given a brief tour, then were left to enjoy the retreat. It was peaceful and comforting even during the wrath of Mother Nature pounding down on it. The fresh flowers, welcome basket of wine and snacks, birds singing, antique decor, perfectly placed lighting, heated bed, cool breeze, rope bridges and fresh air all made for a perfectly relaxing environment to zone out and smile. Thank you for sharing this place with us. You are making the world a better place two guests at a time.

Loved having you both... And you perfectly described what I hope all guests to the treehouse bring with them - the willingness to be exposed to something new and the calm to let it do its thing...Peter

Wow! I saw a few years back a few friends of mine had visited the treehouse and then posted the experience to - immediately interested I went to air bnb to get in on the action- however this unique spot was booked solid for at least a year. Recently around Christmas time I saw some availability for April and immediately booked. Upon arriving you are driving through any regular suburban style neighborhood so you think," this isn't the right place." As soon as you pull down the driveway you are immediately taken to another place. Spiritually, and physically- it just is an out of this world experience. Peter asked a few times if I was okay because you are so taken back by what your seeing (but not in a bad way!) The treehouses felt fresh, and clean and were filled with wine, snacks and fresh flowers. For a chilly night the bed warms up! Every particular detail was though of and it was transparent to me that Peter just wanted to create the best experience possible for whoever is staying. I have nothing bad to say about my experience other then I wish I stayed longer. Until next time!

Ashley, what a nice review...! It makes hosting people in the treehouse a very special experience for me. Nothing makes me happier than when a guest comes to the treehouse for the right reasons, and takes the time to understand the calm and gracious nature of the 7 trees that are the true hosts of the treehouse... I work in the wine industry and my husband is an environmental activist and 3d photographer. He built the treehouses as an escape within the city and together, we've made it into a Vacation Home at home! We hoped to create a setting that was both secluded and quiet but also warm and welcoming. Many of our favorite times have happened there--from parties with friends to quiet afternoons reading the paper.

But while we love being at home, we equally love traveling. We find that experiencing new places and meeting new people is as exciting to us as being in our treehouse is calming. Through Airbnb, we want to share our hideaway with other travelers who seek adding something special to their trip and hope that they leave feeling like it was something genuinely special!
