Great place to hike and hike, but if you want to drive, here are some nearby attractions

Portola Redwoods State Park (0-5 minute): Waldhaus borders the state park, and is 5 minutes drive to the park office. Eighteen miles of trails follow meandering creeks, where moisture-loving coast redwoods stand tall among ferns and huckleberries. Waterfalls on Fall and Pescadero creeks tumble down mossy banks over rocks and woody debris. Day use hours are 6am-sunset.

Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve (15 min) showy display of wildflowers in spring. In summer, the hills turn to gold with the late evening sunlight. Autumn, when the fog recedes, is the ideal time to enjoy the ridge views of San Francisco Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains

Thomas Fogarty Winery (20 minutes). Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Wines are good quality and tastings range from affordable to expensive. Outdoor patio for enjoying your wine is a great plus. On a clear day you could see the Bay and San Francisco. 19501 Skyline Blvd. Closed Tuesday

Memorial Park at Loma Mar (20 minutes) - old-growth redwoods and creek

Pescadero State Beach and Bean Hollow State Beach (50-60 minutes): This area provides access to miles of gently sloping, sandy beaches at the base of high sandstone bluffs.
