About this listing

Charming, artsy cottage on a quiet side street in East Austin. Close to downtown, E. 6th St. and Rainey St., Hike and Bike Trail and other attractions. A great jumping-off point to explore the capitol of Texas. Please read below for more details; as with many Airbnb rentals, it has all kinds of idiosyncracies.

The space

Note: if you make an instant booking, drop me a line to say hi and talk about your schedule with me. Thanks.

Small studio house, artistic and colorful, very centrally located on a quiet side street in East Austin. Full kitchen, WiFi, lots of light, hardwood floors, beautiful art, great vibe. The couch folds out into a sofa bed if you're not staying with someone you're sleeping with. Close to 6th Street, Rainey Street, the Convention Center and the Hike and Bike Trail. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway in town, events, conferences or family visits. Located about 10-15 minutes from the airport. You can walk to many restaurants and bars and not have an expensive ride home at the end of the night. If at all possible, I strive to be flexible on arrival and departure time (nothing is worse than having a fun night on the town and having to be out by noon). The space and I are definitely LBGTQA friendly!

Price will be higher during major events.

I've been hosting on Airbnb for five years now, and love it. I will do my damnedest to equip you with enough information and bug repellent to thoroughly enjoy your stay in ATX. There is coffee and half-and-half available, and beer in the fridge if previous guests were kind enough to leave it.

The fine print:

The bathroom door has a curtain instead of a solid door. For most people, this is no big deal, but if this is something that will make your stay unpleasant, awkward and uncomfortable, please take this into consideration prior to booking. Thanks.

There is no off-street parking, but street parking is unrestricted in this neighborhood. As with any urban area, it's not a good idea to leave your iPhone on the dashboard, but generally it's pretty darn chill. If you're flying in, and not planning any runs out to the hill country, I recommend not renting a car - traffic and parking are a hassle when you're going out.

There is no TV in the space, but there is wifi available for you to access your music and movies.

The bed is double size. If you were excited about the bondage possibilities of the bed frame, be warned that I've changed it and it's no longer suitable for rope tying. ;)

The City of Austin has asked that short-term rentals register and pay hotel taxes, as well as paying hotel taxes to the State of Texas. (Permit #V(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) This runs 15% of the price. Accordingly, I have decided to split the cost, and will pay half and the guest will pay half. Thank you for understanding.

Interaction with guests

Interaction with Guests: That totally depends on what you want. I'm happy to leave you completely alone or engage in witty repartee about any number of topics if I'm around. When I'm in town, I usually try to say hi at some point during your stay and make sure you have everything you want/need.

If you're planning a romantic getaway and need help with setting the place up as a den of love, or making restaurant reservations, etc., holler at me and I can put on my concierge hat.

Other things to note

The house is around 60 years old, and is pier and beam construction. It is not hermetically sealed, there's definitely wear and tear. If you require hotel-room sterility, you won't find it here.

Fiona's place is awesome. An easy walk from a number of great restaurants (try Launderette) and a very cool little place. The backsplash in the kitchen is a treat to look at! Thanks Fiona!

Great pad. Very simple and cozy for a quick stay. Some really good food walking distance. If you enjoy walking a lot like I do, it's only a 25 minute walk from downtown. Highly recommend.

This place was really great for a cost-effective and comfortable stay. The area felt secluded and quiet, but I was able to walk to downtown without much trouble. The host also left a 19-page printed guide that she had written herself with recommendations on basically anything you could possibly want to visit, which was phenomenally informative and helpful. The bed was comfortable enough that I was able to get 100% sleep quality, according to my Sleep Cycle app. My solitary complaint would be that the shower lacked pressure.

Fiona User ProfileFiona is a superhost.

I can network and nurture like no one's business. I've been living in East Austin for 14 years now, and absolutely love it. I've been an airbnb host for 5 years, and do a damn good job at it. I can give you a million suggestions for places to go and good things to eat, or leave you completely to your own devices. I like to make sure people have what they want and need to have a positive visit to my city.
