  • Tlayudas del Barrio

At night from 730pm onwards until late you can find some excellent local cuisine right outside the car entrance of the Calera on the corner of the street 2 de Abril #101. Try the tlayuda with tasajo.

It has an excellent selection of beer and mezcal at very good prices, especially the house mezcals. Ask for the owners - Nacho, Rodrigo and Fernando for drinking recommendations.

Great architecture, one of the original mezcals, attention to detail excellent. If you have the chance try to organize a personal tour to the distillery in Matatlan, it is a work of art.

The village is beautiful. Besides the art space there is also a wonderful paper factory, and lots of nice walks which cut through the hills and around the village. Water is in abundance.
