great place to stay , location is amazing will go back to this location any time!
This was a very central, low-key place. John was kind and always quick to respond, there was plenty of parking, and the room was comfortable. The house feels more like a hostel with nice private rooms than an inn, but we never had to wait for the bathroom, and there was a communal kitchen. It's a great price and close to everything, without being loud. We would stay here again!
John was an absolutely wonderful host, and The Gray Rock Inn was a perfect location. I'll be staying here every time I return to Asheville!
Easy. Clean, and most of all, location, location, location. We loved the location. John was kind and check in was simple. We would stay again for sure.
John was a wonderful host, and we had a fantastic stay at the Grey Rock Inn. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone and hope to come back again! The room was cozy and warm and in an amazing location in walking distance to everything in downtown Asheville. Thank you John!
Overall, I would say the place was pretty perfect for my traveling needs; my only complaint is the mattress softness. It's too soft, and if you have two people sleeping on it, you both tend to roll toward the center. Good for one person who likes extra soft mattresses. Other than that, it was clean, quiet, and a perfect location right downtown! John was also a very nice host!
The place was neat, clean, and charming. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. We loved being downtown and took the opportunity to walk everywhere. Great place--we are hoping to stay again!
John was the perfect host. Quick and clear about the rules, then let us be haha.
Pros - really good location (really, really great!), room has sink, microwave, little fridge. Spotlessly clean. There is wi fi and a computer in the front to use. Free parking in the back. And did I mention that the location is perfect. Once you park your car, you'll never need it again. Everything is within a 10 minute walk!
Cons - bed was too soft for us! It was one of those wonderful pillow top mattresses that my daughter loves, but I like a really hard bed.
Despite that - able to get a good nights sleep and you can't beat the location.
Everything was as described at The Gray Rock Inn. Very clean, adorable old-world style functionality and furnishings, and the location was not to be beat. John was a very clear communicator about what he expected from us, and after showing us around we didn't see him the rest of the weekend. Actually, to be a residential building we ran into very few people during our stay and the building stayed very quiet. There was always access to a restroom, and usually access to two.
