We will be more than happy to meet you at the airport and make sure you arrive at the apartment safe and sound. Please ask about this option when booking.
The tenants who live there are your average blue-collar Saigonese, and there is one expat family who lives on the same floor, though I believe they utilize the wonderful location of their apartment only on weekends. The historically important building, while very safe and without incident (according to all the residents and all my guests have stayed) has interior halls which is very clean and taken care of our neighbors.
The location of this apartment cant be beat. When you check in, drop your bags and walk the entire city center without ever taking a taxi or bus until you depart.

The apartment was in a great location that was close to all major sights and shops including markets. It was handy to many restaurants ( all types and street food to 5 star). It had all the features as listed. Lastly thanks to Vu who was a great host/property manager. Many Thanks Graham and Stephanie
Highly recommendable apartment with all the facilities a traveller might need. Well maintained, clean, tidy and Vic was very welcoming and helpful. No complaints at all. Good location too. Very useful manual to help get your bearings on arrival.
This is a great apartment. Tram's friend Vu met me and help me get settled. The apartment looks just like the photos. It has 1.5 baths and a washing machine, the bed is comfortable. There is more space than you would typically get for this price. The apartment is accessed via an alley off Hai Ba Trung Street. Once you know the way it's easy to find and private. The location is very good, you can easily walk to all the tourist destinations but are slightly outside of the main tourist area. Many places for food coffee, entertainment are near by and taxis are easy to get. The host are great and I liked the apartment enough to book again. Recommended.
I definitely felt welcomed. Was picked up from the airport (at extra charge), received better pillows (when requested), had water delivered and had help with the taxi on the way back.
For traveling in the city uber is cheaper and easier.
As to the place itself. It looks like it does in the pictures. Killed a big cockroach on my first day there and had some ants around. Its not luxury and better deals can be found closer to Japan town.
Its hard to relax as it is very loud around. Construction, crying babies, screaming kids, barking dogs... and other noises. Most of this is avoidable in the bedroom at night but not always. I recommend ear plugs. Also if the office building across the street leaves their lights on by mistake you have daylight in the middle of the night. Those curtains don't help. The bathrooms are very small, have to bend down to not hit my had on the door frame and had to sit on the toilet at an angle as there was no place for my legs in the front of it.
It does feel quite safe as the people of the buildings are always looking out for who comes in. There was a safe... although I received a broken key for it so it was hard to open it. The kicker was that on the last day the cleaning lady who took the keys from showed it to me and was whining that I broke it (I think since she didn't speak English). This type of thing happen all the time in Vietnam. She was a trip the entire time.
Summary: Great Host/Budget Place/Mediocre Aisle
Tram was so helpful and friendly, gave me lots of helpful advice and places to eat. The apartment was very clean, spacious and the wifi was excellent. It is located in a convenient area, not on top of tourists but all of District 1 was easily accessible. The neighbours are friendly and helpful. Try the ice cream downstairs at Sun and Moon.
The apartment was just as described - basic but very functional and all you would need, as long as you don't demand luxury, etc. Location is excellent, within walking distance (at least for me - I very much enjoy walking) of the entire District 1 (except perhaps Pham Ngu Lao).
Check-in was very efficient with good communication throughout. Most helpfully, check-out was self-sufficient (i.e. I did not need to arrange to meet Tram), which is extremely helpful if you have an early morning or very late evening departure.
Will certainly consider staying here again when I return to HCM.
