Built in 1928 to house workers building the Owyhee Dam, The River House #5 is full of history and charm. While updated for comfort, it still has a cozy vintage layout that brings guests together. Enjoy meals at the dining table, relax in the living room after a day of fishing or enjoying the outdoors, and cook in the well-equipped kitchen. With plenty of sleeping space and thoughtful touches, it’s a warm retreat in the heart of the Owyhee River Canyon.
The space
The River House is a cozy and spacious 2-bedroom, 1-bath cabin that comfortably sleeps up to 11 guests built in the 1920's giving it lots of character and a unique layout. Please note that while the cabin can accommodate larger groups, it has just one centrally located bathroom, so privacy and sharing should be kept in mind. Inside, you’ll find a fully furnished kitchen with oak counters and modern appliances, a dining area that seats 8 plus a bistro counter for extra space, and a welcoming living room with a queen pullout sofa. The master bedroom includes a queen and twin bed, while the second bedroom features built-in bunk beds with 2 full-size bottoms and 2 twin tops, easily accessible by stairs. Thoughtful touches like ceiling fans, heating, air conditioning, and plenty of seating make it a comfortable retreat. Outside, enjoy a propane BBQ, picnic tables, and the stunning scenery of the Owyhee River Canyon—the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of the outdoors.
No pets allowed inside this cabin. Service animals must be pre-approved and meet Oregon’s definition of a trained dog (or miniature horse) that performs specific tasks for a person with a disability—emotional support animals aren’t considered service animals.
