About this listing
Small room with comfortable full sized bed and lots of closet space. Conveniently located off Stassney and Emerald forest. Close to bus routes and easy to get around town.
This is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom duplex that has a cozy 10x10 bedroom awaiting you!
Diverse Neighborhood. It's a little suburban but very diverse and interesting. I get around often on bicycle and have no trouble. Close bus routes and easy access to major roads and highways. Quick drive up 1st or Manchaca to Downtown activities.
Full Kitchen. I have everything you need in my kitchen to make a great meal, including pots, pans, organic spices, a Vitamix, a juicer and I usually have an onion and some garlic on hand :-). I don't have or use a microwave.
Beautiful Yard. I have a beautiful front yard with all the elements: sun, water, earth, air, and ether. There is a picnic table and lots of shade.
Living Room. My living room is simple with a futon, 2 comfortable chairs, a dining table. There is no TV but free WIFI for streaming.
Parking. There is an abundance of parking on the street.
Proximity to Recreational Parks:
Mary Moore Seawright Park - 15 min drive
Garrison District Park - 5 min drive
Town Lake - 15 minute drive
Barton Springs Pool - 15 minute drive
Proximity to FOOD: As I said, It's a little suburban so driving is easier but there is a great little mexican place (Cilantro's) and pizza shop (Milano) within walking distance. Good cheap Thai (Tuk Tuk) and Strange Brew Coffee just a little further away.
I try to minimize my environmental impact as much as possible. The house has rainwater collection, gardens, fresh herbs available and I don't use the a/c or heater much and often have the windows open. If you like it super cold in the Texas summer or hot in the winter, this is probably not the place for you.
Bus stop just 1 block away.
Bike loan may be available.
Other Things to Note
I'm not really looking for people to stay longer than 3 months and I prefer booking the first month only through airbnb. That way we can make sure our lifestyles mesh. Just let me know how long you're looking to stay and I'll make sure the room is available. I also don't book more than 2 months in advance. Sorry to all you planners.
All those eco friendly expectations. Recycle, turn off lights, take short showers. Use a fan if you're hot, put on a sweater if you'e cold.
I moved to Austin and decided to use Airbnb for the first month to give myself time to become acquainted with the area before signing a lease, and Rechelle was a splendid hostess. The room was larger than advertised - certainly more spacious than I needed - quite clean, and pleasantly sunny (with three tall windows). Her description of the place and amenities is spot-on, although in my opinion she could add 'Free parking on premises' as there was never a lack of ample parking on the street.
The location was wonderful in my opinion; barely over 5 miles to downtown Austin, making it simple to drive or bike (if you're used to the heat!) to a plethora of interesting places in no time at all. My overall experience was superb, and I highly recommend staying with Rechelle to future Airbnb travelers reading this.
Rechelle is a wonderful and accommodating host. I enjoyed my stay there and the house is located close to the city bus lines. Very easy to get around Austin.
A small utilitarian room with a comfortable futon and plenty of storage space. The place is small but functional. My only issue is the neighborhood is not convenient in terms of location and accessing freeways. Rechelle is an accommodating host and interesting person. I enjoyed my brief stay very much.
Rechelle is a great lady; a kind woman and a steward of the Earth. Her home is an environmentally conscious, clean and pretty place. I spent an entire month there, and was comfortable and pleased. It was a warm, friendly welcome to South Austin. :-)
Rechelle's home is a wonderful place to stay. She was very welcoming, prepared space for me to put things in the bathroom and kitchen, neat, considerate and kind in every moment. My cat stayed there as well, and she was equally accommodating to him!
The sounds and smells made the experience extremely peaceful.
If you're used to 68 degree room temperatures, you might not find it as pleasant during Austin's summer months. This is certainly an environmentally conscious household - not for everyone, but it's not like "roughing it." There is wifi, after all.
I very much enjoyed my stay and Rechelle's pleasant energy, and I highly recommend her as a hostess.
