Peaceful, relaxed, and refreshed is how you will feel when you spend time at Cypress Creek Cabin's secluded location. The natural setting is the perfect getaway from the modern world...and yet just five miles from the interstate.
A peaceful place to stay on your I-20 travels, just 5 miles north of Ruston, and for anyone who is visiting Louisiana Tech University. A bridge that you can walk over leads to a 900 sq. ft. 4 room cabin six ft. above ground with porch and deck overlooking Cypress Creek. Nestled in the woods, it includes one king bedroom and a 9 x 13 artist studio available with art table. Large living, dining and kitchen area. Bathroom includes a large antique porcelain soaking tub with a laundry area on one end. Cabin completely furnished with antique furniture, Chambers gas stove, microwave and everything for cooking. Large windows in every room. A retreat place meant for lovers, artists, musicians, and writers with no television, telephone or internet. Bring a book or enjoy our nice selection. Also a wide variety of CD's are available, and an electric piano and guitar for those musically inclined. A great place for nature lovers. We are five miles from the Super One grocery store, Starbucks, and our library. Six miles from downtown Ruston with fabulous boutique shopping, including a bicycle shop. The winding creek around the cabin...the beautiful horses nearby...the trees overhead...
Other Things to Note
Be careful walking over bridge as it can be slippery during wet seasons. I prefer you not drive over unless you are very comfortable.
No pets. No smoking. No shoes. Please take off your trash (if possible) as we do not have pickup.
Everything about the experience at Cypress Creek Cabin served to serenade our souls and lift our spirits. The only drawback was leaving, but we look forward to an opportunity for a repeat performance.
Our stay was most enjoyable. The cabin is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Beautifully decorated. Artistic touch shows throughout. Time does not allow me to elaborate. You will just have to book it to find out for yourself.
I will Aldo mention the setting, though. Cabin is nestled in an oxbow of a creek, with woods behind and a horse stable across the road. We enjoyed watching two young horses playing. Hadn't observed that before.
Communications with host Shelby were great. This was our first Airbnb, and she was most patient and accommodating while we labored through the task of registering.
Will most definitely stay here again.
The cabin is just charming, and we had a great time. The location was beautiful, and the rainy March weather was actually a great time to be there!
Will look forward to our next visit, and thank Shelby for being so kind and accommodating.
The Cypress Creek Cabin was absolutely wonderful! We were in town for a Ruston wedding, and we felt SO privileged as our friends had [boring] hotels, and we had this AWESOME cabin in the woods with a stocked breakfast fridge, coffee, books, music, a temprapedic mattress, and a scenic retreat location, just 5 miles from the Ruston church. We would really love to come again; it made for a perfect weekend.
We had a wonderful stay at Shelby's cabin. Everything was wonderful. It was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed her variety of books, the nice bathtub, and her artwork. We would not hesitate to stay again.
The cabin is charming, inside and out. Lots of lovely touches and inspiring decor. Loved the inclusion of a bird guide and binoculars for identifying the little guys in the trees outside. Truly there is very little in the way of a cell phone signal and no wifi, which is exactly the scenario I wanted for a few days' quiet retreat. I took an afternoon to hike Louisiana's highest 'peak' nearby - fun little side trip. Thank you Shelby! Great stay!
Beautiful and quiet - lovely to soak in the bathtub and a very comfortable bed. Lots of cooking supplies, spices, etc. A great place to hole up and write! I'll definitely come again.
