Other Things to Note
As others with old stone buildings may know - they are also home to the odd spider - although utmost care will be taken to shoo these friendly creatures away, take note you may spot one or two during your stay !
..stories have it that the magical mound, a sacred untouched area, that spans on either side of the road, is where fairies and other worldly beings have played and joked through time.
.. i will let you decide about this but my land that rises at the back of the property is certainly a sacred place to sit and relax. In May and June it is carpeted with bluebells. There are big trees and ancient hawthorns to lean against.
Herbalist Biddy Early (phone number hidden)). Famous as a healer and accused, under an antiquated law, in 1865 of witchcraft, Biddy was well known in the area. Local folklore says that if you leave a coin at her house you will have good health, but take a coin and you will have bad luck.
Internet is limited but can be used for emails and (website hidden) etc if required.
During the Feakle Festival period , this year 5th - 10 August i can only accept bookings of a minimum 4 night period.
I really enjoyed my stay in this renovated cottage down a quiet wee country lane. Julia is a friendly, welcoming and helpful host and her home is just as described, in a lovely setting. The sacred mound just behind her house was covered with bluebells and I found it a beautiful calm place to relax for a few minutes in the sun. I had great sleeps each night in the very comfortable bed, to be woken by lovely birdsong every morning, and I came away greatly refreshed and relaxed from my weekend break.
Julia is a very friendly and kind person. We liked so much her beautiful home, the accomodation, the breakfast...everything that she kindly and generously offered us. I hope to be her airb&b host soon.
I live in a traditional stone cottage near the village of feakle and spend alot of my time working on the land and garden creating various new projects as i go.
I am a visual artist with my emphasis on photography but also work with other artists on collaborations and inspired projects.
I am easy to get along with and will welcome guests into my house to enjoy the peace and surroundings of east Clare.
