This is a private suite with 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom and a lounge with a sofa-bed for 2 more extra people. 1 wood table is available for you to enjoy your coffee/tea or surf the web. Flat TV with cable service, WIFI and kettle are available.
This is a good alternative for a couple that is on a low budget but wants some privacy, clean WC with private shower, fresh linens and towels, pretty difficult to have in a guest house crowded with backpackers :) A couple with kids or 4 friends together can also be satisfied with this suite because it has a big and comfortable sofa-bed.
It's small but very comfy and clean, simple and good taste deco. I believe it has everything it should have for the space it has.
NO KITCHEN. CEILING ONLY 2 METERS HIGH. ABOUT 20 SQUARED METRES. If you want kitchen, look at my other listing: Amalia Studio. Same location!
Located on Pena, a historical district of Lisbon and one of the seven hills of the city. On the studio's street is the birthplace of Amália Rodrigues, the Fado's Diva. A bit up the street, the visitor can also find the house where Luís de Camões (portuguese famous poet) lived.
Many tourists pass through Pena every day, down and up the hill!
Down the hill, is Rossio, Praça da Figueira, Avenida da Liberdade, Largo de São Domingos and Rua das Portas de Santo Antão.
Up the hill, 5 minutes walking from the studio, you can get to Campo de Sant'Ana with its nice garden "blessed" by Dr. Sousa Martins, saint to whom many offer their devotion, right in front of the beautiful and graceful building of Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. Above you can also visit Ascensor do Lavra (old lift) and a few meters ahead, Jardim do Torel. Here you can have a comfortable rest and watch the beautiful sunset, with its amazing views on the Avenida da Liberdade and Baixa. The experts say that in the trendy and cozy café of Torel, one can eat the tastier chévre toast of Lisbon (something not Portuguese, but very tasty!!!!). The Jardim do Torel, surrounded by splendid old palaces, is (still) one of the treasures of the romantic Lisbon, saved from the confusion of other points of the city. Keep the secret ;)
For organic enthusiastics, it is available on demand an organic basket with fresh vegs and fruits.
Mafalda has a really nice and lovely Suite. We like the neighborhood, it´s not typical touristy!
Mafalda is really helpful and friendly. We had a really good stay!
Thank you Mafalda!
Location for this apartment is good It's very close to Rossio & Figueroa palaza but only if you can find it. We kept on going in circle for more than 2 hrs, asked the police officer, waiter, hospital security guard, locals passing by but everyone seems to know by looking at the map which we got from the information desk with the help of internet she drew on the map since it's not on the map. Our phone didn't work, pay phone won't work finally a shopkeeper let us use his phone for a euro.I talked to the host she came to pick us up and told that noone else had that problem, may be not if they arrived in a cab.The host should know that her place is part of a maze and rather than wasting her time and our time and energy could have met us by the round mirror near the palaza which no one will miss and neither did we. Due to the time difference Canadians miss out on a whole night sleep. Our first night tried to sleep around 11pm, dogs barking. Can't close the only window, will still hear no fan no air conditioner hot night. Someone who live on the right side is on the phone can hear word per word. Finally it's little quite and we went to sleep.Woke up by 1:00am,looked out it's the garbage man with a big rolling bin collecting garbage one by one from the whole street. It's quiet again, 2:00am the garbage man came again. Second night......same things again add ons, a crying child....dogs barking....people talking.....hot night....can't close the window........garbage man .....couple of hrs sleep and time to get up. Third and our last night....all the rest of the activity plus more.A drunk man from the front apartment is yelling around 12:00am.We had 4 hrs to sleep as we had to fly early. I asked a girl who spoke some English to request him to stop as we had only a few hrs to sleep but no success. We didn't want to be involved so we shut the window. Heard more noises some one start fist fighting with him, I guess he got sick of him shouting. That stopped and few minutes later police came and he calmed him down and left. Now finally it's quiet, but only for 10 minutes, he started to yell again. After few more minutes he went in I thanked god and now it's garbage man's turn. No mirror in this place, not even in the bathroom. Looked accross at front apartment's mirror to check my hair images. Even men needs mirror to shave. There is only a kettle no spoon to stir tea. Instead of couple of candles I would prefer basics and instead of TV, I would prefer a small fridge. Our cold water bottles would become warm and the milk for tea went sour. I know a host can't provide everything but there are some basics which should be covered like a mirror....
If you're under 190 cm tall, this place is clean, tasteful and perfect for a short stay.
The neighbourhood is close to what you may need/want. Seeing that it seems to be very "working-class," the guest may get a glimpse of Lisbon-life different than that which one might get by staying, in chiado, for example.
