This charming three room, one bedroom apt in the East Village has lots of the old New York charm and was painstakingly renovated in November 2012. There's plenty of sunlight, and windows with cross breezes, on a quiet tree lined street with a police precinct up the block. Added in the most recent renovation is a standing shower in the kitchen, a lovely sleeping loft, a king-size Tempurpedic mattress, 42" flat screen TV, and a European style cooking kitchen with a under-the-counter two drawer refrigerator.
The Apt. Includes:
- 3 separate rooms + water closet
- A KING-Sized Tempurpedic Bed!
- Sheets and towels are included.
- A sleeping loft, good for a tall adult or two small children.
- Free WiFi
- 42" HDTV w/ Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu Plus enabled (no cable).
- iMac computer to check emails.
- Air Conditioning
- iPod hook-up to stereo w/ speakers in every room.
- Amazing soaking tub in huge kitchen with shower.
- A separate water closet.
- 4th Fl walk-up
- a dog does live here, if allergic beware.
The neighborhood is the best for restaurants and nightlife. Outdoor cafes, international cuisine, bars and lounges all within a five block radius, and the the NY Times deemed "Best Coffee Shop" is right around the corner.
In addition there are two incredible parks just minutes away. The legendary Tompkins Square Park is two blocks West, and the newly renovated East River Park, with river views, running track and tennis courts is only 3 blocks East.
The apartment is 8 blocks away from 3 major subway lines (6,L, & F trains) and there is a 24 hour bus stop outside the building, which travels across town, connecting you with all of Manhattan's subway lines.
This is the New York you've been longing to experience!
No smoking in apartment.
Be respectful of neighbors.
We had a great time in NY and a lot of that had to do with how considerate Dave was about checking up on us, the great details he gave us about the area, where we could find everything in the space and how it all worked. It's a very cute flat and we had a lovely time there.
One thing to keep in mind about the building is that the stairs are a bit steep and you will be walking up a few floors. It's well worth it, just be prepared.
The landlord was nice and polite and the place was very clean. However, the neighbourhood is not that nice at night (although there is a police garage in the same street). We did not expect a unique living-room/bathroom/kitchen space, which is ok but it is weird when you need to take a shower in the living room.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The place was great and Dave was an excellent host. He was very responsive to my questions and gave great recommendations. I would stay here again.
There must have been communication issues with Dave as I thought the apartment was between avenues B and C and was surprised it was on the corner of avenue D. The projects are across the street and there was noise coming from there though out the night. One night my husband could not fall asleep until 4:00 and the noise woke him up by 6:00am. Dave has done the best he can in decorating an old tenement building. The place is charming but the area is too far away from subways and there is just too much noise in the area.
Dave is a wonderful host and very responsive. His place is terrific and I felt very at home there. Dave is generous in his hosting -- always willing to help guests feel at home. I stay in NYC often, and this is my far the best place I have found there.
