Stony Kill Ranch is a modern rustic ranch located on the border of 22,000 acres of untouched wilderness. THIS IS NOT THE MARRIOTT, it's a secluded mountain house surrounded by nature. Nature can include but not limited to Bugs, Storms, Power Outages, Bears, Rattlesnakes Etc. If you're looking for a town or city. This ain't it. We are walking distance from Stony Kill Falls. Highlights include: Hot tub, music studio shed, firepit, fireplace, foosball, privacy and nature!
The space
Disclaimer/Important note: due to the homes secluded natural location. We are limited to well water that comes from 500’ below the bedrock and is consistently tested for purity, bubbles are natural. We have a multiple stage filtration system and have recently upgraded it to improve quality and minimize any inconveniences!
This is not a hotel, it's a secluded mountain house surrounded by nature. We do our best to fix any issues but we do not have a 24 hour concierge or handyman. We try to keep the home in great shape and it's a huge effort. Due to wear and tear, things break over time. We do our best to address as fast as we can but sometimes it is out of our hands. i.e. the LG fridge compressor broke due to a manufacturing issue. We couldn't get a new compressor installed until the following Thursday after our guest left. Another time, we got over 24" of snow over 36 hours. Our plow team came as often as they could but there was up to 4 hours during that day where the guest was unable to leave in 2 wheel drive until the plow arrived. Every Fall and Spring an invasive Asian Lady Bug swarms the area. They are harmless but annoying. We do not use poisons in the house, we vacuum them up but some guests have complained about them. Unfortunately, there is not much we can do and some years they are worse than others.
Sorry for that long winded disclaimer. If you understand the above and dont mind the things that come with leaving the city for a much needed getaway at a home in the mountains/woods please continue to THE GOOD STUFF THAT MAKES THIS HOME SPECIAL. If not, I recommend staying at the Holiday Inn in New Paltz or Inness depending on your budget.
Only about 2 hours from NYC, Stony Kills Ranch is a bright 4-bedroom house with a wraparound deck sitting on 30 acres of gorgeous green property. Our house is perfect for any weekend getaway or vacation with family and friends. Year-round, guests can soak in the outdoor hot tub, stargaze from the porch and roast marshmallows around our fire-pit. You can even take a short walk directly to the famous Stony Kill Falls, a spectacular waterfall that flows off of a high ledge and down into shallow green pools. Spend the summer weekends, camping, hiking, grilling outside and playing horseshoe in our horseshoe pits. During winter, enjoy nearby winter hiking, snowshoeing, ice climbing or cross-country skiing. Three floors, four bedrooms—downstairs we have a full kitchen (with dishwasher!), living room with Sonos speakers, a dining room, and a working wood stove. Two bedrooms upstairs have king size beds, one has a queen size bed and the one has bunk beds perfect for kids. (Or, honestly, even adults—the mattresses are very comfortable) and a basement with two additional single beds. Guests will find the home stocked with all the necessary amenities including towels, linens, kitchen basics and toiletries. Forget something? Wal-Mart Supercenter is ten minutes away and you have quick access to a number of farmers markets and restaurants in Kerhonkson, Accord, High Falls, Stone Ridge, and Rosendale. New Paltz is just 25 minutes away. We’re also a quick 20 min to the Shawangunk Mountains (or, the “Gunks”), famous among rock climbers—also home to waterfalls like Verkeerderkill, Awosting, Buttermilk and VerNooykill. The property includes a hot tub for you to relax in, a grill on the deck, a music studio to jam out in (bring your own guitar, we got the rest), or warm up next to our firepit/fireplace. Additionally, we have an assortment of activities from horseshoes, foosball to board games. Make the most of our Jam Shed — perfect for rehearsing, recording, or just jamming out! We have a full drum set and other equipment already set up. It also features a projector for movie nights and a great selection of vintage classic DVDs.
