  • What a time we had at Naci's place! The location is perfect - trust me: perfect! - near Central Park and as long it's on Manhattan island, you can easily reach by subway train. There are good grocery stores, delis, bakery and mini markets around. The nieghbourhood is safe and quiet. The apartment itself is clean and cozy, you got everything you need. Well, it's on the fourth floor but this keeps you fit. The contact with Naci is excellent and easy. Definitely worth the (moderate!) price. Thanks for having us!

  • If you want to feel you are not just visiting New York, but you're really inhabiting the city, then you can't do better than Nanci's apartment. Surrounded by fascinating bric a brac, from burlesque posters to vintage shot glasses, this is obviously a well loved and well lived-in apartment. If you're looking for a spotless, antiseptic contemporary loft, this isn't for you. But from the car horns and shouted conversations from the street below, the faint yapping of a small dog in a nearby apartment and the smell of cooking wafting in through the open window, this is authentic Upper West Side living. It will accentuate your experience of Manhattan, in a way the cookie cutter rooms of a Hilton Garden Inn simply can't. Yes there are a lot of stairs and the block's communal parts are a little careworn, but I would be back in a heartbeat. Thanks Nanci.

  • We decided to stay here after reading ute & ulf's review and it didn't disappoint. Yes, the 4 flights of stairs can be exhausting at the end of the day and then you have the loft bed but the apartment is in such a great location that those 2 factors pale in comparison. We were out all day and most of the evening so to collapse at the end of an evening in a toasty haven was great. It is extremely safe and there are great cafés surrounding home base and also a brilliant laundry next to the levein bakery which made you feel like you're living a New York life. Marty & Nanci were always available to answer any questions and were wonderful to deal with, nothing was ever a chore for them. A great place for a New York experience.

  • What a fabulous discovery! Location perfect! Facilities great! Decor eclectic! Hosts couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. We had a fabulous stay, seeing the Thanksgiving Parade from the end of the road. Walking to and from the city taking in new neighborhoods on the way. Plenty of places to eat, lots of variety! Would really like to return! Thank you Nanci and Marty

  • The location of this apartment is fantastic! It's in the Upper West Side, which contrary to some reviews, is full of restaurants, shops and places to visit. The subway station is right across the road so it's extremely convenient. You can get the 1,2 and 3 lines plus the station is often the first stop on the express line from downtown which is really handy.

The apartment is at the top floor so be prepared for a little cardio workout everyday! It is very spacious, with a comfortable bathroom, wardrobe space, lounge room (with cable TV) and loft bed. There is also a computer to use which is very handy.

The only issue we had was with the heating in the apartment. For some reason, we couldn't change the temperature of the in built apartment heater so it was extremely hot everyday in the apartment despite us leaving the window open. It might be an issue that's been fixed since our stay though.

Overall, would highly recommend this place!

About
We are a middle aged married couple. I am Italian/German and Marty is Czech/Polish descent. My husband Marty was a former actor that is now a consultant for the restaurant/bar industry designing bars and signature coctails. He is also a very well known mixologist in NYC. His specialty cocktails have made 8 publications and the front cover of Time Out magazine. Marty has run 15 NYC marathons and belongs to the NYRR club. You will see his posters decorated in our hallway. For the past 12 years, I have been a professional portrait/figurative painter in the traditional techniques of the old masters. Recently, my work was in International Artists Magazine for placing 3rd nationally for the PSOA showcase 2009. I am an exhibitor at the Art Guild Gallery in Red Bank. My BFA is from the prestigious School of Visual Arts. We have lived in our studio loft for 15 years and love it. We travel back and forth from our home near the shore to our NY apt several times a month except when we have our guests stay over. We LOVE life!!!! We love our guests!!!!!
