The Space

Rustling bamboo, blueberries, flagstone path, a swinging bench seat under a willow tree and a secluded patio that's perfect for morning coffee, afternoon relaxing or an evening barbecue with friends.

The two bedrooms share the bathroom and kitchenette and are both private from the main house. The main bedroom has a queen and the second has a double bed. Please let us know if you are booking as two people but plan to use both bedrooms.

We're just minutes from any event on the UO campus, an hour from walking on a Pacific Ocean beach, an hour from hiking or skiing in the Cascade Mountains, minutes from rafting or fishing on the McKenzie River, and no time at all from a nap in a great queen bed.

The Eugene area is awesome! You'll have a great time if you've never been here before.

The suite has a collection of novels and travel books, a WiFi connection, and a flat screen TV with basic cable stations.

Your suite includes a private bathroom and a kitchenette with mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave, single-burner hot plate, electric water kettle, toaster, dishes and utensils. Close the bedroom door and the early-riser can make coffee without waking the sleepy-head.

We love animals and your furry friend is fine with us. Please let us know if you're bringing pets. If you're bringing a cat, please have a bell for the collar because we like songbirds too. Oh, and please check first if you're some sort of traveling animal show and you need us to prepare for a menagerie!

The house and property are in the early stages of a top-to-bottom upgrade. (We started with your suite!) The flagstone path is in progress, you'll see rocks we've collected from all over Oregon that are ready for future landscaping, and there is a tidy stack of lumber that is waiting to be used on new trellises and decks. We promise no construction while you're here.

The backyard will one day be a small permaculture area, so if you visit every year you'll see the progress and be able to share in the veggies, fruit and herbs!

Guest Access

Feel free to wander the front, back and side yards. The back patio and the willow tree swing area are yours alone. Make yourselves at home.

If you have local family and friends you'd like to entertain, we're willing to work with you if you need access to the main kitchen and living area.

Interaction with Guests

We're usually here or nearby at work, but we do travel now and then. We'd love to meet you and share stories, or we'll respect your privacy if that's your desire. Bring your friends over and hang out, enjoy your seclusion in the suite and patio, or disappear to your tour of our great city and our beautiful Northwest region.

I grew up on the coast and my husband Charlie and I have traveled nearly every back road of Oregon. We can give you some great tips on things to see and do.

The Neighborhood

It's great for walking and bike-riding. We're a half-block from the historic Masonic Cemetery which is filled with huge trees and native plantings and it has great views of the city and the Coast Range. It's like being in the woods without leaving the city.

Sundance Market was a national pioneer in the shift from processed to organic/bulk foods in the 60's and it's still here today. We pick up fresh food and fair trade coffee there a couple of (email hidden) Park, Amazon Park, Amazon Pool, The Reach Center and several churches are very close.

The best part about where we live is that our neighbors aren't strangers and we lend each other a hand when something needs doing.

Getting around

Two of the primary Eugene bike paths are just a few blocks from here and the regular side streets are fine for riding as well. You can catch the LTD bus just 3 blocks from the house.

Other Things to Note

PARKING
We'll try to keep the parking space open at the bottom of the front stairs for your use, but it's normal public parking like most anywhere else so someone might be there. Please try not to park in the driveway . . . that gets a lot of action with our big truck and various building materials.

  • We had a great stay here! We never met the hosts as our schedules just didn't match up. The rooms were perfect for us. On the first night of our stay, my daughter had her first slumber party with her sisters and they were super loud but we didn't get any complaints. Everything was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Having a mini kitchen was very convenient and the yard was very cute. It doesn't get more Eugene than this! It's nice that it is walk-able to a beautiful cemetery that's fun for hiking around as well as Sundance grocery and University Park.

  • We had a great experience staying at Geni and Charlie's in Eugene. The home is on the south side of the University in a really lovely neighborhood. We appreciated that we were able to rent the extra bedroom as well which gave us two beds. It really was like staying at home with plenty of amenities like bedding, towels, books to read, etc. Charlie invited us out to watch the sunset with him and Geni one evening and they also provided a list of their favorite restaurants in two which was very useful. They were excellent hosts who made themselves available to us in case we needed anything but gave us privacy.

  • (email hidden)! This was my first experience with air bnb. The house had everything you need, we were able to kick back and relax and loved that our dogs could be there. The house feels secluded, but it is close to parks and some great places to eat like the hidden bakery. We will definitely stay here again if back in Eugene.

  • (email hidden) Geni & Charlie have created here in beautiful South Eugene! Everything was exactly as advertised and surpassed our expectations. We came to Eugene to spend 3 days scoping out the city (email hidden) to relocate. It's hard to imagine our experience being any better. The room in the back of the home has a comfortable bed, plenty of light, and opens up to a back patio where we could listen to the birds and the wind. The mornings are wonderful in the back patio as the sun rises directly east & overhead. Geni & Charlie were the best hosts we've ever encountered and were great about making sure we had everything we needed. The only thing we regret now is not having more time to spend with our lovely hosts in their lovely private suite!

  • I had a delightful experience! Much better than staying at a hotel/motel. Conveniently located, clean and quaint. I felt right at home and will definately book for my next trip in Eugene.

  • Charlie and Geni were great hosts for our night in Eugene! We were in touch via text message/phone calls earlier in the day to confirm what time we would arrive, and they were waiting for us after our long travel day. The apartment is on the back part of their home and was spacious, comfortable, charming, and in a nice residential neighborhood.

Everything was as described and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom had great natural light, which made waking up for our next long day a lot easier in the morning!

Charlie gave us a great recommendation for a local brewery, and overall we had an easy, relaxed time staying in the apartment. Parking was easy, right on the street, and we had a private entrance. If you're stopping in Eugene, definitely stay in this cute apartment!

  • I did not meet Geni or Magee, but Charlie was very kind and friendly. The set up was great with a private bath, 2 beds and mini kitchen (fridge, microwave and electric teapot). Charlie was running a bit late and had not made up the beds when we arrived in the early evening, but it was no trouble since we were heading out to dinner anyway. When we returned everything was set up and we knew for certain that the bedding was changed! The decor was eclectic and the garden was refreshing. Although the mattress was rather lumpy, I would definitely recommend staying with them.

  • We didn't meet them but we loved the little private suite we stayed in at the back of the house. We needed a place just for one night and this fit the bill. We booked it last minute which seemed to be no problem at all. We were very comfortable and had a peaceful night.

About
I'm happy, friendly, and love to meet people--just ask the clerks at the local stores and the neighbors walking by. I'm the owner of The EDGE, a dance and tumbling school and the co-owner, with my husband Charlie, of a neighborhood activity center called The Reach Center. In recent years I've had students that are the children of former students and somehow I manage to remember all their names! Charlie is a web developer and graphic designer. Our 3 wonderful kids have grown up and moved out. It feels right to share this house of many stories. Come visit!
