About This Listing
Private entrance to comfy 2-bedroom suite & patio, quiet dead-end street, nine blocks from campus, walking distance to Pre's Trail, Amazon Park, Hayward Field, Matt Arena, restaurants, natural foods and mainstream markets, bike paths, running trails.
The sitting room has an antique table for a quiet meal or working on your laptop. The TV table swivels to face the bed or the sitting table.
Rustling bamboo, blueberries, flagstone path, a swinging bench seat under a willow tree and a secluded patio that's perfect for morning coffee, afternoon relaxing or an evening barbecue with friends.
The two bedrooms share the bathroom and kitchenette and are both private from the main house. The main bedroom has a queen and the second has a double bed. Please let us know if you are booking as two people but plan to use both bedrooms.
One of many Airbnb strange rules is that since we're not listing this as the "Entire house or apartment" then we can't tell you how many bedrooms. So it says 1 bedroom at the top of our listing page, but there are 2 bedrooms available. We charge an extra $15 per night for the second bedroom, but Airbnb doesn't provide a way to set prices by the bedroom. We've contacted them and made feature requests. "We'll pass that idea on to the programmers, sir!" Meanwhile, I guess we're stuck with this silly explanation.
And don't worry about suddenly sharing the suite with strangers if you don't use the second bedroom . . . the place is all yours.
We're just minutes from any event on the UO campus, an hour from walking on a Pacific Ocean beach, an hour from hiking or skiing in the Cascade Mountains, minutes from rafting or fishing on the McKenzie River, and no time at all from a nap in a great queen bed.
The Eugene area is awesome! You'll have a great time if you've never been here before.
The suite has a collection of novels and travel books, a WiFi connection, and a flat screen TV with basic cable stations.
Your suite includes a private bathroom and a kitchenette with mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave, single-burner hot plate, electric water kettle, toaster, dishes and utensils. Close the bedroom door and the early-riser can make coffee without waking the sleepy-head.
We love animals and your furry friend is fine with us. Please let us know if you're bringing pets. If you're bringing a cat, please have a bell for the collar because we like songbirds too. Oh, and please check first if you're some sort of traveling animal show and you need us to prepare for a menagerie!
The house and property are in the early stages of a top-to-bottom upgrade. (We started with your suite!) The flagstone path is in progress, you'll see rocks we've collected from all over Oregon that are ready for future landscaping, and there is a tidy stack of lumber that is waiting to be used on new trellises and decks. We promise no construction while you're here.
The backyard will one day be a small permaculture area, so if you visit every year you'll see the progress and be able to share in the veggies, fruit and herbs!
Feel free to wander the front, back and side yards. The back patio and the willow tree swing area are yours alone. Make yourselves at home.
If you have local family and friends you'd like to entertain, we're willing to work with you if you need access to the main kitchen and living area.
Interaction with Guests
We're usually here or nearby at work, but we do travel now and then. We'd love to meet you and share stories, or we'll respect your privacy if that's your desire. Bring your friends over and hang out, enjoy your seclusion in the suite and patio, or disappear to your tour of our great city and our beautiful Northwest region.
I grew up on the coast and my husband Charlie and I have traveled nearly every back road of Oregon. We can give you some great tips on things to see and do.
It's great for walking and bike-riding. We're a half-block from the historic Masonic Cemetery which is filled with huge trees and native plantings and it has great views of the city and the Coast Range. It's like being in the woods without leaving the city.
Sundance Market was a national pioneer in the shift from processed to organic/bulk foods in the 60's and it's still here today. We pick up fresh food and fair trade coffee there a couple of times a week.
University Park, Amazon Park, Amazon Pool, The Reach Center and several churches are very close.
The best part about where we live is that our neighbors aren't strangers and we lend each other a hand when something needs doing.
Two of the primary Eugene bike paths are just a few blocks from here and the regular side streets are fine for riding as well. You can catch the LTD bus just 3 blocks from the house.
Other Things to Note
We'll try to keep the parking space open at the bottom of the front stairs for your use, but it's normal public parking like most anywhere else so someone might be there. Please try not to park in the driveway . . . that gets a lot of action with our big truck and various building materials.
Please, no smoking in the house.
Private entrance and another view of the sitting room. Southerly light comes streaming in the big window.
Geni and Charlie were great hosts - accommodating, considerate, and friendly. The location was perfect in a quiet neighborhood far enough away from the UofO campus and the noisier, busier areas but close enough to walk to campus. The suite had everything we needed. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Our stay at Geni and Charlie's place was fantastic!!! The place is exactly as described and as shown in the pictures. The accommodations were great; plenty of towels, cozy beds with nice sheets, a lovely kitchenette with teas and coffee, a wonderful private sitting area outside. The layout of the place is really nice and the bedrooms are separated by the kitchenette which adds privacy within the space if wanted. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. They had the perfect balance of engaging with us and also giving us privacy. We had a fabulous time and we hope to stay with them again, the next time we go to Eugene. Also, the neighborhood that their place is in is really lovely and is near a wonderful park.
Geni and Charlie were incredibly responsive and helpful. They responded to my booking request immediately, letting me know they had seen it and would confirm it as soon as they got home. Although they were out of town the weekend we were there, they texted us directions and details the day before we arrived and left us with a friend's contact info in case we needed anything. The room itself was beautiful, there was a nice list of their favorite places in Eugene and (this is key) there was freshly ground coffee.
Our host made us feel welcome by texting me directions to their rental area the day of and having coffee set up to go in the coffee maker and water in the crock. The communication was very smooth. Towels and bedding were very clean and comfortable. Everything actually was very clean. Top notch! I loved that we had a little kitchenette area with a microwave and small fridge and coffee maker. Perfect since we were on the go most of the time and just needed the basics. The area the home was in was very quiet and comfortable. Lots of greenery, plants and warm homes in the neighborhood. Listing was accurate and I felt extremely comfortable there. My friends and I were very happy with the space and we all agreed we would return. Charlie & Geni were very pleasant, down to earth people.
My daughters & I were in Eugene touring the University and were lucky to find Geni & Charlie's place. The flat was comfortable & spacious, tucked away in a nook close to trails & historic sites. Although we did not personally meet Geni or Charlie, we knew they were close by and more than available for any needs we had. Most definitely would return!

About the Host, Geni And Charlie
I'm happy, friendly, and love to meet people--just ask the clerks at the local stores and the neighbors walking by. I'm the owner of The EDGE, a dance and tumbling school and the co-owner, with my husband Charlie, of a neighborhood activity center called The Reach Center. In recent years I've had students that are the children of former students and somehow I manage to remember all their names! Charlie is a web developer and graphic designer.
Our 3 wonderful kids have grown up and moved out. It feels right to share this house of many stories. Come visit!
