This 1000 square foot house has a very unassuming exterior. Once you enter you will be surprised by its grandness made by its high ceilings and thick woodwork. It is a small home but well put together in one of the hippest neighborhoods in Milwaukee- Bay View.
The wood floor has been refinished and the walls repaired. The house was built in 1902 and is charming and solid. It has a deck and a two car, detached garage. There is a second half bathroom in the basement. The kitchen has a microwave and fridge but no stove yet. Guests are welcome to use the gas grill on the deck. The grill has a gas burner as well.
I have been remodeling my kitchen so there is no stove yet, but guest are welcome to use the gas grill on the deck. There is a microwave and fridge. Guests have access to the two car garage and use of the laundry in the basement. There is also cable internet and the TV has basic cable.
Interaction with Guests
I will leave guests on there own to take care and have fun in my house. I will arrange, upon request for a reservation, where/how to get the keys.
The house is right on the main drag in Bay View...the best neighborhood in Milwaukee. It is a gentrified neighborhood but has retained a lot of the old character- lots of cool going-ons. There are great restaurants right out the back door (other than the McDonalds right behind my house-haha). Also there is a good coffee cafe that serves breakfast....and a liquor store on my block. Some of Milwaukee's best bars are in the neighborhood too. The Harley 110th anniversary celebration is only three miles away. The Harley Museum is less than 3 miles away. The airport is 4.5 miles away. I am only a few blocks from Lake Michigan. A perfect place for the 110th.
There is a bus stop practically right outside my door. Also the city cabs can be called.
Other Things to Note
The main bedroom has a queen bed. There is a tiny room off the kitchen with a single daybed. There is also a couch. I have listed my house as a two person house but four could probably survive together if they had to.
No Pets or little kids! My deck is getting old....if you are going to use it, be carefull on it. Some do-it-yourselfer built it some time ago and the stairs are steep. Use the deck at your own risk...I just have to say it, but I'm on it all of the time and I haven't hurt myself. It is a city home wedged in by neighbors- PLEASE respect them. When you leave...lock up, take trash out, shut windows and turn the air off or down. Also make sure the basement toilet is not stuck running water -which it does on occasion. Please clean after your own mess. Leave my house in the same order as you found it. Please try not to scratch my newly refinished wood floor. I have an art studio in the basement-that's off limits to guests....please don't touch anything in it. Please smoke outside.
Stay here and you could give this host their first review!
I am a hard working decorator, fine artist and craftsman who travels the country restoring historical buildings across the country. I love my job. I work for the oldest art restoration company in the US. I have worked really hard over the years to buy my lovely little home in Milwaukee's oldest and most charming neighborhood. I would consider my home one of my hobbies. It was built in 1902 and I have spent a lot of time fixing and restoring it.
When I am not working. I like to ride my 2009 Triumph motorcycle all over. I often travel with it. I put it in my work van and transport it to whatever state I am headed of to. I also play guitar, but to shy to perform for anyone but myself.....I am the greatest rockstar in my own world-haha! My favorite movie is Fargo because of the great characters, dark humor, strong leading female role....and of course the goofy Northern accent of which I have been told I sound like being a South Side Milwaukee girl. Hands down- mac and cheese is the best food ever!- and I love all variations of it be it gourmet or boxed. It is comforting and of course it has cheese in it which is a must wwhen you are from Wisconsin.
I want to host and be a guest on Air BNB. It would be a waste to not let my house out when I am working on the road. As a host I will be trusting with my most prized posession- my home. I just ask people respect it and not upset my neighbors. Don't scratch my newly refinished floors please! As a guest I am quiet and clean. I am usually pretty wiped after work so I go to bed at a reasonable time. I do like to have a few beers on occasion but I'm not a loud partier type.
I have heard such good things about Air BNB. I hope to have a great experience traveling and hope that others have a great experience here in Milwaukee renting my home.
