Renta 2 noches y Recibe la 3ra. Noche GRATIS!
Gustavo and his Mom, Erika, were very gracious hosts. They did the utmost to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay.
The condo was spacious, clean and the beds very firm, just the way we like them. The swimming pool was the perfect temperature and we had it almost always to ourselves. The neighborhood is all condos and is about 2 miles from the Hotel Zone in Ixtapa and an easy but longer bus/taxi ride to El Centro Zihuatanejo. 10 pesos for the bus (about 65 cents today) and 60-70 pesos for a taxi ($4-$5). Buses and taxis can be caught just a couple hundred yards from the condo.
Two great convenience stores right in the complex for just about everything you'd need from food to supplies. There is also a little pueblo of La Puerta about 3/4 mile away with some quaint eateries and places to buy roasted chicken and fruits and veggies. Very walkable from the condo. Also a terrific, reasonably priced seafood restaurant also under a mile away called Palmar Ixtapa, and El Gaba a couple hundred feet down the highway. Not to mention the wonderful little seafood cafe on the premises. Great shrimp dishes!
There are a couple of things one should know before renting this condo. You must bring your own towels for bath, pool and kitchen use because they are not supplied. We borrowed bath towels from Erika and bought pool and kitchen towels. The kitchen has a great gas cook top but no oven other than a microwave. Kitchen utensils are sparse and basic but usable. Bring or buy your own knives if you cook and need ones that will cut. We bought a set of cookware from Sam's Club because the pots and pans in the unit were essentially unusable and we gifted them to friends we made from the local community when we left. We also bought wine glasses since there was only one in the condo.
The furniture is serviceable and practical but not overly comfortable. The bamboo dining chairs, for example, have no pads and become uncomfortable after a short time.
Electricity, gas and water are charged for separately and you will need to make a cash deposit of $650 at the start of your stay to cover those costs. And you may be shocked at how much of it goes away for electricity. We did use the air conditioner in the living room (works very well) and the main bedroom (works pretty well) but not in the second bedroom (didn't work at all) and our electric bill was almost $500 American dollars for a 39 day stay. Water was cheap ($18) and we filled the propane tank when we arrived for $44 and didn't use it all.
We enjoyed the host, the condo and the area. Did not like the surprise of what paying for utilities added to our vacation costs. Really cut into the savings of using Airbnb.
