Affordable, comfortable, great breakfast provided, wonderful conversation with Nancy, sweet fur babies, beautiful scenery... Nancy was very knowledgeable on different towns, restaurants, and view points. Two things we discovered through Nancy, that we probably would have missed out on during our visit, were Lake O Law (nearby lake with beach access that was not crowded) and the town of Inverness (we highly recommend checking out the restaurant 'The Public House' for good food and beer). Thank you Nancy for an incredible stay in Middle River!

Nancy is a remarkably kind and generous host. We would highly recommend a stay at this warm and welcoming farmhouse. Despite having a full day planned, Laura and I had trouble leaving in the morning!

Nancy was out when we arrived. Sophie (her dog) greeted us when we arrived and Nancy was soon to follow. This 160 yr. old farm house has plenty of charm, patina if you like. Comfortable and familiar, like staying at your grandparent's home. Clean room and linens, comfortable bed (!), bagels and French press coffee for breakfast and great conversation with Nancy. We loved her pets but I guess some would not. The walls and shelves are loaded with photos and books, sparking interest and conversation. Unfortunately only there for two days, one of them rainy. Nancy was helpful directing us to some alternate dryer points of interest.

Staying with Nancy was a wonderful, homey experience. She was out when we arrived in the afternoon, but left helpful notes so we could find our room and make ourselve comfortable. Her home is rustic, cozy, and full of beautiful pictures. Her animals are friendly and low-key. We stayed there two nights and she chatted with us in the evening, gave us plenty of towels, and our bedroom was quiet and comfortable. In the morning she gave us bagels and coffee and we sat together and talked. She is very knowledgeable about the area and helped us decide what to do during our stay. Nancy is very warm and personable. Staying here is a great way to see what it's like to be a local in Cape Breton. I would gladly stay again!
