Apartment - Entire home/apt · Somdet Chao Phraya 17 Somdet Chao Phraya, Bangkok, 10600, Thailand

The Space

Hello! My name is Gael and I am an entrepreneur living in Bangkok. Married with 2 kids.

We own 2 units in a residence along the river, called Baan Chaopraya. It's a great place to live and we've been living in this residence for 7 years (we moved recently, to get closer to our kids school which is in north of the city).

The residence is ideal for you if you want to be along the river, have great views of the chaopraya, and wish to get easily around the city. It's actually close to Chinatown (across the river), and there's a free private boat that takes you every 30mn to the skytrain - in 8-10mn.

As for the apartment itself, I can guarantee you one thing: it's quiet, and the king size bed mattress is a gem. You will sleep very well here.

One more thing: when you book my apartment, you will get my assistant to help you for anything you need (hotel bookings, train, flights, etc...) - I'll give you a direct number that you can call anytime you need something :)

  • Gael was very helpful right from the beginning is a fast communicator and furnishes you with all info you need.
When arrived at the appartment, we could instantly see that the fotos of his appartment where not somehow taken just from a cool angle so they would give a stunning, but not realistic impression, NO, this place actually is really cool and nicely designed, so I imagine there is not many places in whole bankgkok where you get this good value. Prang, his assistant, was handing over the keys and in we where happy from the go. tis a greate view over the river from the terrasse and you have besides nice interior furniture a very generous, clean and practical bathroom.n Some other visitors might tell you that living on this side of the river is a little tricky to reach all fancy spots, but the private boat taxi leaves every half hour to get you either over to china town or to taksin bridge where the MRT takes you everywhere. We once took a taxi (with Meter!!) from the Khaosan Road to our place and it was less than 100 bat, so no big expense to really get around here. If I soon get the chance to go back to Bangkok, the Riverfront Apartment will be on the short list of places to stay.

  • We had planned to stay 1 month but on arrival found that the apartment
had been flooded and the floor was being replaced!! Gael went to a lot of trouble to make sure we still had our holiday...he gave us some of our
money back and let us stay free in another of his apartments...then paid for a really good hotel with a riverview (incl breakfast) free to us and then we stayed the rest of the time in another of his flats in the original apartment building.

He was very kind to us and went out of his way to help and make up for the disappointment we felt, which we appreciated.

  • This place is just as gorgeous as it appears in the photos. The unit we stayed in was particularly spectacular, with a mind-blowing view of the Chao Phraya river. Standing out on the balcony you can admire the temples or look across the river towards Chinatown. We worked in the apartment almost every day for three months and never got tired of that view :)

Gael is a consummate host; he attended to our every need immediately, and even upgraded the internet when we were concerned it wasn't quite fast enough (we're programmers, so our standards may be too high for Thailand :) ). He's very responsive and fair-minded, a very welcoming person.

This apartment is massive, luxuriously appointed with antique (but sturdy) furnishings, and has a small kitchen with a huge refrigerator and a washer/dryer to boot! The bed is very comfortable, and you can't beat daily maid service!

The only minor drawback for us was the location; it's pretty quiet in terms of eating and drinking. There's a private boat which comes every 30 minutes and runs until 9 and will take you straight to the BTS station, so convenience definitely isn't far away! :) Thanks Gael!
