I was keen for a conveniently located place for our first trip to Rome in many years. It is a small ground floor flat. The building is on a quiet residential street and the flat is positioned across a small plant filled internal courtyard making it extra quiet and private.
It is composed of an entry, a bedroom, kitchenette and a bathroom. Secure windows in each area mean light and breeze.
The entry has the only entry/exit door and doubles as a second bedroom. A single foldout bed and a chair (used as a side table) made a comfy nook for our teen. There was enough room to open the door.
The bedroom had double bed, wardrobe and a bench running its width which served as a desk/dining table and 3 chairs.
The kitchenette we used only for simple breakfast etc. It included a small washing machine (really long cycle but good gentle wash).
The bathroom has large pedestal basin (good for hand washing clothes), toilet, bidet and a shower (very narrow but adequate). The very small amount of floor space means it's not really suitable for anyone with restricted movement or poor balance.
Although the weather was hot we did not need the Aircon but did use the ceiling fans. We left the door and windows ajar day and night as all had security grills. It was pleasant to look over the courtyard and feel the breeze.
The location was great, walking distance to so many sights and allowed for siestas or pre-dinner rests. We walked everywhere, got first entry into the Colosseum, shopped in Trastevere, even walked to the Vatican. The Colosseo metro station is so close we went a morning trip to Ostia Antica and even swam at the Lido. We felt perfectly safe walking about day or night.
As it was the traditional holiday time many businesses were closed but enough remained open to allow us to dine out or shop for eating in. Prices were very reasonable in the local supermarkets and eateries with the gelati being good and cheaper than most other parts we visited.
Juan and Todd were relaxed and friendly, getting back to me quickly when I had a query. Everything was neat and clean and ready for our arrival.
We spent a week here and could easily have spent another. It was tight living but we managed. It was like having our own little place in Rome.
Thank you for leaving the studio so tidy and the suggestions. Juan and I are already making plans to renovate the bathroom and kitchen area. We plan to make the bathroom a little bigger by moving the wall out a bit. Place the toilet under the window, to the right the sink and to the right of that a larger shower. The entry would be a door in front of the sink. The kitchen would be reconfigured with a cabinet above and new appliances. Sadly, working with small spaces there is very little choice when shopping for small appliances like refrigerators. We have replaced it twice and the stores only carry one model in the size required. Still, once the renovation is started, I know we will place the fridge in a better location. This is the original kitchen when we purchased the studio. The studio is our only vacation rental property. We keep the rates very reasonable and do not charge for additional people per night, cleaning fees, weft etc. We simply use the rental money to pay the mortgage. This is our busiest year to date so I know our rates are low. I already have two bak to back reservations for May of 2016. We buy a toaster when a guest asked for one. She was also Australian. I guess that is your standard breakfast in Australia. Another guest broke it. Since there is little storage room, we just did not replace it. I have no problem getting another one after the renovation. Juan and I are happy you enjoyed your stay in Rome. All our best, Todd
Blisko do komunikacji miejskiej. I Juan Carlos, i Todd to wspaniali gospodarze, przyjaźni, sympatyczni.
Communication was easy and clear with Juan Carlos/Todd. Todd was great in sharing his favorite places to eat and tips on what to see.
We had no problem getting to the apartment walking from the train station. It is a few blocks from the Colosseo station - it was great to pass by it every day we were there.
They had a/c, wifi with a computer you could use, cable TV and comfortable accommodations.
We had a great time at their apartment.
A fantastic experience! This property was in an amazing location. Steps away from the Colloseum and tucked away in a residential neighborhood, so we felt we were living among the locals instead of tourists. There is a Carrefour grocery nearby that is well-stocked, so we were able to pick up essentials easily and even an inexpensive meal several times. The apartment had all of the basics to make our stay comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, even for my very tall husband. The bathroom had everything needed, even a hairdryer, though I didn't take the time to use it. The only thing is that it's pretty tight in there - you need to be pretty agile to get in and out of the shower. Juan Carlos was a fantastic host. We received recommendations for travel to the property and for around Rome well before we arrived so we could use it for our trip planning. Also included were numerous restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood, which were spot on. We definitely recommend this property, we would stay again.
O bairro é muito tranquilo, à alguns minutos do Coliseu. Muitos restaurantes no entorno. O apartamento foi muito bom, térreo, e possui tudo o que foi descrito no anúncio. É um apartamento ideal para 2 pessoas, 3 pessoas fica muito apertado.
The apartment was as expected! Really clean and perfect location! I highly recommend booking it! Moreover, the owner gave us some tips about were to go for dinner and what to visit.
We enjoyed our stay in The Celio neighborhood. The apartment was comfortable for two adults. Definitely the smallest shower we had on our European excursion, but we made it work for the few days we were there. The bathroom was well stocked with everything we needed including a hair dryer. We used many of the host's recommendations and had the best gelato of our trip at the place around the corner and our favorite meal at isodoro in the neighborhood. The coloseo metro stop is a 5-10 walk. This is a great home base for exploring Rome and the area!
