This studio is very private and peaceful. Secreted away at the rear of a historic west end house on a quiet one-way street, this is a great place to retreat to. The house was built in 1830 and at various times was a ship captain's home and later a headquarters for rum runners.
The studio maintains much of that historic atmosphere. The hardwood floors are original and the shower was built out of stone and concrete.
Yet all amenities are very modern and new, including high quality appliances, bed and linens.
The bed is in an alcove which helps make it feel separate from the open studio floor plan.
French doors lead to a new deck that offers both sun and shade and is a great spot for reading, sharing dinner and drinks or just listening to the birds chirp away.
The West End of Provincetown is considered very desirable as it is closer to the national seashore, convenient to downtown, yet considerably quieter than other Provincetown neighborhoods.
Enjoy, relax, restore!
The house maintains a tone of conscious courtesy. Quiet time is from 11 pm to 8 am. Visiting and socializing are wonderful, but this is definitely not a party house.
Patricia came out when we arrived, welcomed us, showed us to our apartment, and gave us two home-brewed beers. She wasn't over-bearing, and the few house rules were basic and clear. Patricia gave us great dining suggestions when we asked, but she otherwise left us alone, which we appreciated a lot. The listing was accurate. The place was great, really small and cozy, humbly but carefully appointed. It felt like home. We also loved how easily we could walk to town. Even in the coldest weather, town never felt too far to reach by foot, and Mechanic street is indeed very quiet. I should also add that the home-brewed beers Patricia gave us were very good.
Patricia was amazing! Right when we got there she greeted us and showed us our studio and was able to give us great recommendations of places to eat and things to do. We were able to cook most of our food in the fully furnished kitchen and even after just one night the place really felt like home. The apartment was cozy, keeping in heat exceptionally well, even when the nights dipped down below freezing. Its location was perfect! Just five minutes walking from everything to do downtown, and only about ten minutes from the edge of the west side of town where the views of the marshland and tip of the cape were incredible. This was an amazing stay and Patricia was a fantastic host, able to accommodate our every need!
Upon our arrival and seeing the space, we were met by Patricia. We immediately felt welcomed. The directions to the Secret Studio were spot on. We found the Studio cozy and warm with the right amount of character and charm. Patricia was readily available when we had questions. We will definitely be back for another visit!
My partner and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. This apartment was cozy and the perfect size for a couple. Patricia was very inviting, and went so far as to give us a huge list of different restaurants to try and places to see. We used some of her recommendations and each of them was a success. I would definitely stay with her again!
Patricia was a great host. She was informative and friendly. The house is hidden in the back of Patricia's house. Deck was great with nice chairs and charm. I would have loved a table outside to eat breakfast, but we ate with plates on our laps. The studio is off the beaten path, just past Commerical St with an easy walk there and back from the action. If you are looking for amenities, then I don't recommend staying here. The studio is charming, but older. I would stay here for a reasonable price, privacy and charm.
Patricia was great - she wasn't able to be there herself, but she had someone meet us and show us around. The place was old (1800's? so the floors are all aslant, but sturdy), but modern furnishings, working wifi, good fridge etc; no problems other than a stuck window that was fixed almost as soon as we mentioned it. I'd say it's a bit small for two people, unless you're only sleeping there and spending the rest of your time exploring - which is what you want to do anyway! Very accomodating; because of my feather allergy, all the pillows were swapped out. And again, very clean.
Patricia was so proactive and helpful before I even arrived sending a ridiculously spot-on list of places to eat, grab coffee, wine/cheese, galleries, etc. To the point that I felt like a groupie at them (Pop + Dutch, in particular) because I just kept going back they were so good. She even went so far to suggest a fantastic place for me to try on my way out to Ptown in Orleans. Which turned out to be one of the best sandwiches I have had in a LONG time (Sunbird - amazing).
The studio itself was EXACTLY what I was looking for: cozy, private, simple. It was such a welcome change from city living and overhead office lights and the perfect place to hunker down in during a cold rainy Friday night (after dinner at Joon, of course). The kitchen had everything I needed or could have been looking for and the bed was divine.
The location was great and within easy walking distance to Commercial Street and everything I needed. I parked my car on Friday and did not need to use it again until it was (sadly) time to leave.
I am already looking at dates to go back to this adorable, simple, cozy and quaint hideaway.
