Welcome to my castle!
And enjoy your own cosy and clean bedroom and private bathroom. The bed is really comfy and always down even though it say's in the listing that it is a sofa bed. (no complaints from guests/friends so far anyway !) You also have the run of the whole house and garden. So please make yourself at home, "mi castle es su castle". If you don't feel like going out for breakfast I will make sure there is no shortage of toast and fruit, and the tea kettle is constantly on!
This town house is in what I consider to be the best location in the downtown core, a five minute walk to both English Bay and the beaches as well as the busy shopping area of Robson Street. Vibrant dining areas such as Denman Street and Davie Street are only minutes away too. Historic Gastown is a healthy 30 minute walk through the centre of the business and shopping areas, taking you past places like the Art Gallery and Granville Street on your way there. At the bottom of Robson Street you will find the sporting hub of Vancouver with both BC Place and Rogers Arena, home to the Canucks, Whitecaps and BC Lions.
You really can't beat the location!
I generally work from home as I am a freelance artist. So I'll be either busy drawing on my computer or in the garden painting a canvas.
Should you need a parking space there is one secure 'underground' spot available to you while you explore by foot or by bike. I have 2 bikes that you can use should you choose to go for a ride around the seawall that loops around the stunning and famous Stanley Park.
The apartment has wireless internet as well as cable television. Definitely home away from home!
Cypress, Grouse and Seymour Mountains are approximately 30 minutes away and Whistler is a scenic 2 hour drive .
The neighbourhood is surprisingly quiet at night considering the amount of people that live in this geographically compact area.
Vancouver has many diverse, interesting and historical locations for you to find. I can always give you some of my local knowledge tips to smooth out the bumps of being in a new and exciting place.
Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend.
We loved Marcus' home and we adored his art and sensibilities. It was an absolute joy staying at his pad. The indoor parking was especially handy. It was rainy while we stayed there so we didn't do much walking but it was only streets away from all the major attractions. And although, we did not meet Marcus since he was half way across the globe, we contacted daily through email and he made sure we enjoyed ourselves (and we did!)
Indeed, where do we start? Met as strangers - departed as friends! Marcus was awsome to stay with: he would have given us everything, I guess! He was totally easy and sociable and willing not only to explain and help, but to share his thoughts, insights and even friends with us! He likes people around him and thus is perfect as a host for airbnb! We went kajaking with friends of his! Thanks to his social talent - we saw and experienced much more than tourists normally do. Being an artist and a "foreigner" himself, Marcus had a particular view to the city and things to do - we were able to profit from that big time. He lives totally down town - his place is nice to stay at.
If you are looking for more than just a "place to stay" - go stay at Marcus' - you will eventually meet a friend and feel welcome and at home in Vancouver. What more is there to expect from traveling? Thank you and we hope to give something back one day, yeah!
We had the pleasure of staying with Marcus for a long weekend in Vancouver. His place is well equipped and is in a great location to Stanley Park, the Waterfront and public transport. We look forward to staying with Marcus again the next time we are in Vancity.
Hi travelers! Staying at Marcus is great. We were there just for 3 nights, but had a great time with him. Easy going and cool to hang out with. His Castle is central located, so you can walk to the beach and Stanley Park, or to the center / harbour. Great location, quiet and clean. Well worth to visit. Thanks again Marcus!
I stayed at Marcus' "little castle" for just two night but I wished it would have been longer. Marcus is a very charismatic and kind guy and I enjoyed my visit from the first minute. He's a very good host, very helpful and interesting person. The room is nice and quiete and you do have your own bathroom.
His apartment is well situated in walkting distance to Davie and downtown area, so no need to use public transport. Marus also offered a bike to get around. All in all a very good location to stay in Vancouver and a perfect host. Next time I visit the city I'll contact Marcus definately again.
We stayed in Marcus' casttle for two days and wished we could stay longer. The appartment is extremely well located in downtown, just minutes away from Stanley park and has everything you need. Marcus was out those days, but everything was superwell prepared, communication was very easy and nice, we got access to the parking, bicycles to go around the area and there were some clean sheets and towels waiting for us. Marcus has a guide to the city he made himself which I can definitely recommend to use....he made some beautiful drawings from interesting places in the neighborhood and we used it to guide our bicycle trip and enjoyed a lot. We met Marcus on our (late) way out and he's a cool guy, very friendly and acommodating, a perfect host. Thanks a lot!
Marcus is an easygoing person who makes for a wonderful host. We had a great time getting to know him the few days that we stayed with him.
The apartment is a jewel right in the heart of the west end, tastefully decorated with Marcus' own works of art. It's so quiet you wouldn't even know you're in the city. And the best feature by far was the splendid little patio, perfect for breakfast or an evening drink.
Besides being able to park in the underground garage, another benefit was the use of Marcus' bikes which we took for a spin around the city. We would definitely stay with Marcus again. The place is highly recommended.
Marcus is a gracious and sociable host who was respectful of our privacy and busy schedule. His place is bright and lively decorated with fresh flowers and his artwork. He is conveniently located near many bus stops and Stanley Park. Being at street level lended itself to considerable street noise (cars and pedestrians), but being from a big city it didn't bother me as much as it bothered my suburbian mother. I would definitely recommend Marcus's place.
Marcus was an awesome host, and has a terrific apartment in a great central location in West End. One of the best hosts we have had! Marcus was very kind to lend us his bicycles for the day and give us tips on places to go. Very nice apartment with everything we needed, and private bathroom. Thanks!
We stayed at Marcus’s castle last weekend and loved it! Its a bright super cute apartment with a large outside space that has a nicely painted orange interior. Marcus is a great host and a very talented artist! Knows when ya want privacy to relax and be quiet and also when to lend excellent advice on interesting activities to do around town. He took us to see some great bands on Saturday night, told us about the annual zombie crawl, met up with us in Stanley park and even lent us his bikes to go around the seawall. Many laughs and glasses of wine were had. The fun was all in the details, from the little hand painted miniature figurines to the portly squirrels outside named Steven & ?. You can’t beat this place and the location and company are fantastic!
