About This Listing
Welcome to my castle!
And enjoy your own cosy and clean bedroom and private bathroom. The bed is really comfy and always down even though it say's in the listing that it is a sofa bed. (If you really want a fabulous bed just like the one you left at home, then please pay the extra $50 a night and book somewhere else !)
You also have the run of the whole house and garden. So please make yourself at home, "mi castle es su castle". If you don't feel like going out for breakfast I will make sure there is no shortage of toast and fruit, and the tea kettle is constantly on!
This town house is in what I consider to be the best location in the downtown core, a five minute walk to both English Bay and the beaches as well as the busy shopping area of Robson Street. Vibrant dining areas such as Denman Street and Davie Street are only minutes away too. Historic Gastown is a healthy 30 minute walk through the centre of the business and shopping areas, taking you past places like the Art Gallery and Granville Street on your way there. At the bottom of Robson Street you will find the sporting hub of Vancouver with both BC Place and Rogers Arena, home to the Canucks, Whitecaps and BC Lions.
You really can't beat the location!
I generally work from home as I am a freelance artist. So I'll be either busy drawing on my computer or in the garden painting a canvas.
Should you need a parking space there is one secure 'underground' spot available to you while you explore by foot or by bike. I have 2 bikes that you can use should you choose to go for a ride around the seawall that loops around the stunning and famous Stanley Park. (Cost for parking and bikes = 1 bottle of wine !)
The apartment has wireless internet as well as cable television. Definitely home away from home!
Cypress, Grouse and Seymour Mountains are approximately 30 minutes away and Whistler is a scenic 2 hour drive .
The neighbourhood is surprisingly quiet at night considering the amount of people that live in this geographically compact area.
Vancouver has many diverse, interesting and historical locations for you to find. I can always give you some of my local knowledge tips to smooth out the bumps of being in a new and exciting place.
Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend.
Guests will have access to my secure personal parking stall, as well as any of my 3 bicycles, should you want to have a quick zip around the sea wall, which is spectacular ! You can also use anything you like in the house from a teaspoon to the TV.
Please make yourselves at home.
Interaction with Guests
I will interact with guests as much as I think needs to be done. (If you talk, I talk !) I'm quite wise about keeping my distance, but I know when to interject when necessary.
I've taken guests for sushi dinners, to see friends bands play, gone around the sea wall on bikes, sorted them out kayaking trips with friends, gone to the pub for poutine, taken them on firework watching cruises on a mates yacht, helped with getting their heavy bags back to the airport, blown up a sofa bed with my own breath (nearly passed out 2wice !) so that guests friends and children are comfortable, given countless bottles of wine and beers to guests and sat and enjoyed the company of people from all over the world !
All of which I have loved doing.
Please let me know if you need anything else !
The neighbourhood is very vibrant and alive 24-7, so please don't be shocked by a skateboarder skootlin down the street at 4 in the morning ! I love having Stanley Park so close and adore going round the sea wall on my bike whenever I can.
It can be surprisingly quiet at night despite the densely packed residential area of downtown.
If you love energetic city life then this is definitely the spot for you.
Public transport is so easy from my place. Buses or Sky train services are so close you'll love it !
Walking around is easy. Everywhere is within 30 or so minutes or if you like you can grab my bikes and tootle off on them to explore the city.
Respect my home and above all enjoy your stay.
Unfortunately our car stopped working (in the lineup at the border! nooooo!) en route to Vancouver, so we didn't make it. BUT Marcus was really excellent at communicating with us prior to our "arrival," and really lovely when we let him know we wouldn't make it after all. We hope to get there for real someday, and stay in this fabulous place!
I had an absolutely fantastic stay in Vancouver thanks to my Superhost Marcus.
He was really cool to talk to and hang out with for a bit too.
Great location, within walking distance of pretty much all of Downtown.
He provides Official Vancouver Tourism Maps if you need one, which are super informative and easy to follow and get around town with.
He was very helpful with directions and gave me a great rundown of things to see and check out during my brief stay, which greatly helped me to maximize the fun I had while I was there.
Like taking the False Creek Ferry to Granville Island, checking out Gastown, Denman and Davie street areas, some pubs to check out like the Pirate Pub under Burrard Bridge, which is along the bike path coming out from the Seawall trail around Stanley Park, just to name a few.
Marcus was kind enough to let me borrow his bike to ride around the city, giving me a chance to experience the Seawall that goes around Stanley Park which is a must see. I had heard that Vancouver was bike friendly and it was awesome to be able to experience it firsthand.
Marcus's place is also walking distance to stops along the Canada Line, so it was super easy and low stress for me, after checking out, to just walk to and jump on at the City Centre stop and take it directly to the YVR Airport.
I had a great time and look forward to going back to Vancouver in the near future. Hopefully Marcus has some availability when I go back, that is, if I don't end up moving to Vancouver first.
It's an amazing city and I had an amazing time.
Marcus is a great guy, friendly and very helpful.
He even lent me his bike for a city ride.
The location is very convenient, near down town.
Marcus is a great artist!
My husband and I had a great time staying with Marcus! He always responded quickly when I had questions, and once we got there he was super nice and very accommodating. He really made everything so easy for us, and it felt like we were staying in a friend's home. The location was great- very walkable, and in a lovely and quiet neighborhood. We slept very well (not something that happens often when we travel), and Marcus had some great recommendations for places to eat or things to check out. As first-time Airbnb-ers, he really made the whole thing an awesome experience, and we would not hesitate to stay with him the next time we travel to Vancouver.
Marcus was a gracious, trusting, prompt, reliable, and very pleasant host. He has a wonderful location on a leafy, youthful street. He is near a superb coffee house that can bake croissants; the nearby main street has an international mix of reasonably priced restaurants. location is easy walking distance from Stanley Park. His suggestions are informed and good. Though still a Brit at heart, he doth love Vancouver. And he should! He will lend you bikes, which can save you $ significantly. The clunker bike worked well enough for me. The house was too stuffy for us at night. This was our best Airbnb stay to date because of the owner's cordiality, info, and location.
