About this listing
Rediscover genteel country living in my peaceful, private Victorian home on 8-acre "farmette." With views of the Endless Mountains & Susquehanna River valley from southern and eastern windows. Apple orchard, horses, spacious lawns, wraparound porch
Views of the Endless Mountains inspire creativity or lazy Sunday day-dreaming. Spaciousness indoors and out renews the spirit and provides an environment that encourages both reflection and invigoration.
Breathe easy with the knowledge that the property is pesticide- and herbicide-free, maintained with environmentally-responsible products, and home to an organic garden (in season). The principles observed here reflect my dedication to living lightly on this earth.
Peaceful setting in large Victorian home with period furniture, antiques, and a feel of "grandma's house" that you remember from your childhood, with genteel taste. Interaction with Guests
You'll be the one to set the tone for privacy or conviviality. I live in a separate part of the house and am usually on premises since I work primarily from home, but like to give my guests their freedom to enjoy the space as they wish. If company is desired or if anything is needed, I'm accessible by texting the cell number provided. There may be tenants in other bedrooms who you could meet in the shared kitchen or public areas, but all respect the mutual appreciation of privacy and peace.
This area is a little slice of heaven. Wildlife abounds...we routinely have turkey and deer in my apple orchard, (well-behaved) bears frequent the woods behind the house, coyotes sing, foxes frolic, woodcock and grouse zig-zag through the trees...it's a richly inhabited area. Take a walk on local backroads, or into the woods. Watch the moon and the stars from the front lawn or porch, or appreciate the unobstructed views from your turret room at night. Feel the serenity of the surrounding natural community wash through you and restore your equanimity, readying you for your further travels or your return to the workaday world.
You'll find a local grocery and small deli at the bottom of the hill, an easy walk from the house, but restaurants and other amenities are five miles away in Clarks Summit, so you'll need your own transportation. The airport (AVP) is an easy half hour away, with rental car availabillity.
Other Things to Note
Dogs are not allowed in the bedroom areas or in the living room or dining room, but may be in the kitchen, so those with allergies to or dislike of animals will not be happy here. I raise and train dogs and horses on premises, so if you *do* enjoy animals, this is your venue!
You may make yourself at home, and may come and go in whatever time frame suits your needs, however please be conscientious about minimizing noise if arriving after 11:00 PM or arising before 8:00 AM. ALWAYS lock the outside door upon entering and leaving. Feel free to utilize the kitchen, utensils, towels in the bathroom, and extra blankets on the blanket racks. Closed doors indicate a non-public area. Respect the privacy of others. If you remove something from where you found it, please return it for use by others. Feel free to open a window to enjoy the country air, but please close it upon leaving (in case of rain). Absolutely no smoking on premises (indoors or out), as we value the air quality (and I'm asthmatic, so it's simply not negotiable). You will find horses and dogs on the premises behind latched gates and fences. The animals are not part of your experience, other than for your viewing pleasure, and are not to be approached unless the owner is present and expressly permits doing so.
