A room within a home awaits You.

Apartment - Private room · Estrella Street, Ventura, CA 93003, United States

Our cool and comfortable two bedroom home is very well aired and has sunlight throughout the day. Your room faces west so if you like to sleep in, this is perfect for you. Close to mid town, mountains, ocean, theater, gourmet dining on a quiet street

The Space

Few steps from the mountains to the north and a couple of miles from the ocean to the south, my home is located in a middle class community of semi-retired, retired and working families with children and pets.

The futon comfortably sleeps two. There is a spare cot for an extra person in the room. I also have a convertible bed in my living room for another extra person. My space is very comfortable for four people.

Bathroom, Kitchen is common area, well kept and clean. Boarder must be dog friendly. I have two small dogs who are happy and friendly.

Though categorized as an apartment, it is one unit in a fourplex: translating to four units in one two story building. It is a neighborhood with families who have children and pets. Expect a southern-california small town, though Ventura is a city.

I do not have a television because I never watch it. I am originally from India, so the air in my home does carry the fragrance of incense and aroma from home made meals with exotic spices.

Ventura has the ideal weather on the planet which is on average 72 deg. F year round. We enjoy 333 days of sunshine, so our doors, windows and heart remain open to tourists year round.

I live in mid-town Ventura which has a few family friendly restaurants in walking distance. Down-town Ventura 3 miles away where we do have a lot of activities: shopping, theatres (historical and modern), galleries, fine dining. Ventura was founded in 1789 and was the 9th mission established by the Assisian order of missionaries in California. Before the Spaniards, it was the Chumash Indians who thrived here and in the close by chain of Channel Islands. We have daily service of boats that take locals and tourists to these islands and on whale watching tours. There are over 101 hiking trails in the Ventura County. Fishing, Surfing and Sailing are common activities at the harbor, pier and the entire shoreline.

We still have the first adobe built in Ventura and the San Buena Ventura Mission open everyday to locals and tourists.

Ventura is primarily a farming and retirement community.

High speed DSL internet is available. Coin laundry is towards the back of the house. Late check-in until 9pm. If you will be late beyond 9pm, please check in and return at your convenience.

Interaction with Guests

This is my home and where I live. I have my private practice outside my home so I am in and out of the home. I am definitely home every morning and evening, so we can enjoy our conversations. When you are in your room, you enjoy your own privacy.

The Neighborhood

A family friendly safe neighborhood with trees on both sides on the streets. There is a mild breeze throughout the day. The sunsets are gorgeous as the ocean is very close by. The mornings and evenings are very cool. When the sunsets, you need a light sweater, throughout the year. Of course if you are a teenager, it is a different story.

Getting around

Being in America, the public transportation is poor compared to the rest of the world.
We do have public transportation and the walk to the bus stop is 5 minutes.
Parking is on the street in front of the house and it is free.
The easiest way to get to my home is by renting a car from the airport.

Other Things to Note

  • Keya is a very welcoming host! We had interesting conversations and she easily made me feel like Im at home. I slept very well during my 3 nights stay there. She has two small dogs, they are very alarming when you first meet them but once they get to know you they are very welcoming as well. If you dont want to stay at expensive hotels and would rather stay at a home-like environment then this is the place to be.

  • We had a very brief stay with Keya (came in late and left early). Her home was a quiet and comfortable place to rest our heads. Thank you for staying up so late to greet us! She also recommended a near-by cafe that had an excellent croissant breakfast sandwich!

  • Keya is a warm and generous host. I felt right at home with her. The room was clean and cozy. Lovely walking in the neighborhood and easy access to trails as well as the ocean. We shared great conversation and even some music together. She makes a great cup of chai too! Very close to the Midtown Cafe, a coffee shop which has a great menu of healthy foods and drinks as well as delicious coffee... I highly recommend Keya's place!

  • My experience staying at Keya's place was very good, she is an amazing host and her apartment is nice filled with lovely energy. She has two adorable dogs which I didn't even know they were there, such good dogs, quiet and clean. The location of the apartment is very safe and convenient, near shopping and less than a mile to the beach. The room is comfortable and clean with plenty of space for the luggage and traveling stuff. I was able to use her kitchen and Keya cook delicious food for the day of my arrival, which I am very grateful as I was very tired. The bathroom was clean and hot water easy to shower and plenty of towels and bathroom supplies. Overall, I felt very well having choose Keya not only for the location and also for her kindness and the good feeling of staying at her apartment.

Mother of three humans and two tiny canines. :) I used to work as a software engineer for 16 years and now for past 8 years have been working as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. I live very close to my work. My children have left the house so I have a spare room that I would love to host travelers in. I travel myself and love living in a home compared to a hotel. I love gourmet cooking, gardening, singing, dancing and of course snuggling with my children. I also love walking and laughing. Best of all I love travelling, teaching, reading and writing. I am grateful for my dogs who make me walk everyday. When I travel i love to live in hostel's or with friends or rent a room from a family. I love meeting people and sharing life's experiences. I understand being in a home is important for people like me. So mi casa su casa. I am originally from India, so yes, the air in my home carry the fragrance of incense and the aroma of exotic spices. My life's motto is to be happy and healthy, always and forever.
