The stable is sublime sanctuary in the hub of malacca's historical precinct between Heeren street, once a narrow street fill with wealthy colonial residences and the famous Jonker street, which now houses antique dealers, museums, restaurants, galleries, cafes and handicraft shop.
She is smart, witty and charming reinvention of what used to be a horse stable built during the 16th Dutch occupation of malacca.
Original wooden beams dances around and richly textured room of raw exposé bricks.
The interior is a brilliant collision of modern to the baroque and to the local Peranakan heritage.
The small house is an inspired fusion of old and new, chic and stylish, individualistic cool.
Like our sister property 45lekiu, the whole house is entirely yours when you check in with us.
Winnie could not have been more friendly & helpful.
Fast communication, nothing was too much trouble. The Stable is really charming & a great place to stay, right in the historic heart of Malacca. Everything was as the photos show.
Winnie met us upon our arrival and was very thorough in explaining all the features of the place. She also arranged housekeeping services and kindly provided local internet and mobile phone services during our stay. Winnie made herself available in case we needed anything and, although we didn't need the extra help, this kindness was appreciated.
We had a great time at the Stable in Malacca and would recommend it. Winnie was a great host. Starting with responding to my questions quickly even before we arrived. She met us upon arrival, welcomed us very warmly, showed us everything, provided recommendations for restaurants and local sights and then left us to enjoy the property (yet she left a mobile phone we could use to get in touch if we needed anything... we didn't!).
the property is located at the heart of the old town of Malacca bang on the centre of action.
The only little caveat is that there is a rather noisy karaoke bar opposite the property. It's not a problem if you like that kind of stuff or if you plan to go to bed late (midnight). Otherwise, we recommend having ear plugs! It's nothing to do with the property itself or with Winnie - simply the fact, the street is also a popular night-life street.
Enjoy your visit!
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the stable. The character and details of the stable are really well done and thoughtful. The bed was an absolute dream, as was the air con in hot weather. Winnie was so great at making us feel welcome and setting us up with a map and some great drinking and eating tips. This is as central as you need to be in Melaka, with all the sights and shops a few steps away.
Great stay in malacca and the Stable was a big part of that. Lovely and cosy and the location couldn't be better. Actually looks even nicer than in the pictures. Only negative was that it was a bit noisy at night - sounded like karaoke next door - but it really didn't bother us. The place really does feel like the centre of town, and it is, so it should.
Winnie was very helpful, with lots of useful tips on places to eat and what to do. Was great chatting with her and getting a local's perspective.
Really, the perfect stay and couldn't have asked for more.
