About this listing
Mayfield Studio is a stylish, spacious self-contained apartment set in beautiful rural surroundings but only two hours from London, one hour from Birmingham and Bristol.
'3 for 2 nights' Monday to Thursday!
The Studio has slate floors with underfloor heating throughout. The living area is double height with a large 'L'shaped sofa with TV & DVD and a dining table and chairs. Many guests use the Studio as a bolt-hole and quiet place to work or study. The double bedroom is on the mezzanine floor & there is an Ercol day-bed that can accommodate another person. There is room for a travel cot. The bathroom is slate lined with a walk-in shower. There is a small kitchen (kettle, hob, fridge, toaster) to prepare breakfasts and light meals. I am happy for one nice dog to stay as well but no cats. There is a charge of £10 per night for a dog. There is safe storage for bikes and a hose for washing them down.
The Studio is self-contained with great views from the wrap-around window on the mezzanine. Guests can have access to my garden and outside table and chairs if required and can park safely in my courtyard. Excellent pubs, cafes & restaurants are all in walking distance.
Interaction with Guests
Complimentary bottle of wine and local beer in the fridge. There will be fruit and biscuits and tea and fresh coffee in the kitchen. A choice of breakfast foods are provided so that guests can remain completely private & eat breakfast whenever they like. Cereal, juice, muesli, bread and milk are always available, as well as a full english or a vegetarian option to cook as required. I supply organic, fair-trade and locally sourced food wherever possible.
Painswick is a beautiful Cotswold stone village dating back to the 1100's. There are fantastic walks from the village including the Cotswold Way. Nearby towns are Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham all offering places to eat, farmer's markets, many Arts festivals and racing at Cheltenham. Bristol and Bath are a 45 minute drive away.
There are frequent local buses to the towns above and trains from Stroud are 90 minutes to London. I can arrange local cabs for journeys to and from stations or pubs and restaurants.
Other Things to Note
There is Wi-Fi. Books, magazines, dvd's, board games, local maps and guide books are provided also a high-chair, wet-weather gear and wellies if required.
Dog owners must not leave their dog whilst they are out and dogs are not allowed upstairs.
This was our absolute FAVORITE of all the places we stayed on this trip. The space is gorgeous. Sara is tremendously helpful and welcoming. It is very clear that she put a great deal of thought into making sure her guests have absolutely everything they need. From well-organized baskets of maps and brochures of the area to kitchen and bathroom basics to breakfast supplies... even eye masks for those sensitive to the early dawns of an England summer, she has taken care of it all. She even came in and tidied up while we were out one morning! We had everything we needed and then some. Truly a lovely, warm and restful experience. If we ever get back that way in the world, we will certainly return to Mayfield! Cannot recommend Sara and her lovely studio more!
Fantastic location for exploring the cotswolds and a stunning studio to stay in. Sara was a perfect host and we look forward to returning soon. Love Gary, Sarah and Peppa.
The studio was very clean and well presented throughout, Sara the host had thought of everything. The food that was provided was of excellent quality and plentiful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower room was excellent. Sara was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and allowed us to park our car in her courtyard off the road. We would not hesitate to stay again if in the area.
What a lovely weekend. We couldn't have asked for more; Sara was an fantastic host, providing first class accommodation and breakfast provisions to match. The bottle of bubbles for my wife ('twas her birthday) was a lovely touch. Somewhere we'll definitely return to.
We had a wonderful 13 day stay. Sara was always making sure we had everything we needed, refreshing the flowers and linens regularly and keeeping everything very clean. A lot of care and thought has been given to creating a lovely ambience and homely, attractive studio. Our stay was longer than the average but we loved every minute and would definately love to come again. The Studio was on a quiet lane and in a very typical, beautiful Cotswold village.
It is hard to imagine how we could have chosen a better place to stay in the Cotswolds. Mayfield is a lovely apartment - bigger than it looks in the photos and the provisions were fantastic. The apartment was immaculate and the kitchen amazingly stocked with all the items necessary for a delicious full English breakfast as well as cold cereals, juice, milk, wine, beer coffee, tea and cookies. The shower was modern and spacious and the bed was larger than a standard American double. Additionally, Sara is an incredible host, extremely accommodating and helpful. It was really fun getting to know her. We felt very fortunate to have had 3 great days at Mayfield.
Absolutely fantastic weekend break in the Cotswolds - The studio is beautifully styled, meticulously maintained and perfectly located to wander into the village, or head straight out to enjoy a walk in the countryside.
Sara was a fantastic host, providing plenty of information on local pubs and places of interest. She was so welcoming of both my husband and I, and our dog. And the breakfast things that she provided for us were absolutely delicious!
Thank you Sara - we hope to come back very soon!!
