I am in a lovely leafy area, where you will get a warm welcome, a jolly good breakfast and lots of advice or pointers on interesting local arts and cultural pursuits or just come and enjoy our beautiful countryside aided by a little picnic a la Mary
Bright and airy double room in Edwardian house where you will get a very warm welcome! The room is spacious and comfortable, with lovely street views. Breakfast in the dining room or in cosy kitchen if you prefer, where you will be served a bountiful breakfast including home-made pancakes, brioche, jams and marmalades. Or, you can dine, weather permitting, in the garden and later borrow a bicycle, no charge, to explore the very lovely waterworks nature reserve nearby or further afield as your whim takes you!
You will sleep in cotton sheets and towels are provided.
Nestled close to Cavehill, birthplace of the United Irishmen, an area of great natural beauty and stomping ground of the famed and tragic Henry Joy McCracken, the period property boasts a country-style kitchen, where languorous breakfasts are also served if you prefer and a living space that is very amenable to unwinding in the evening.
The house is located within an easy walk to shops which provide very good produce and also a variety of takeaways. There is a bus stop seconds from the house, which provides a very regular service into the centre of town where you will find a bustling town centre with a wide range of shops and entertainment. Also within a few minutes walk is an entrance to the local park, the Waterworks, where a wide range of wild birds can be spotted.
Belfast is replete with cultural, historic and retail areas of interest and I can provide you with details of these just to get you started! (email hidden)ly capital city, it provides an array of stores within a walkable city centre. In the evenings the centre offers a similarly lively atmosphere with options ranging from theatre, music, small, traditional pubs through to high end restaurants, all surrounded by the many historical offerings Belfast has.
Provided with the room: free wi-fi, parking and a bountiful, cooked breakfast.
Staying with Mary was my very first AirBnB experience. I chose her accommodation because I knew I would have to stay in Belfast for 4 weeks and wanted a host who could offer me a temporary home and not simply an anonymous place to stay. All the lovely references I read about her proved themselves true since the first moment I met her. Mary welcomes her guests as if they aren’t strangers but familiar faces. She immediately offered me a cup of hot tea (which was fabulous after a long journey) and helped me with the luggage. I had so much fun at her house the past (website hidden), doing the laundry, ironing, etc. was never a problem and Mary will always help you if any help is needed. She would always ask how your day was and – and this I liked most – I never had the feeling of standing in her way or disturbing her privacy when both of us were in the same room.
Her personality was really impressive to me: A woman full of joy and optimism. This certainly spreads to her guests. We had lovely chats and conversations which were more in-depth.
I believe it becomes even clearer how wonderful this host is when you stay with her for a longer term. Thanks for having me, Mary!
I stayed with Mary for 5 weeks, and I cannot recommend her or her home more. She is the sweetest, most welcoming, and accommodating host. Her breakfasts are delicious, too! The room was adorable, clean, and she made every effort to make me as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much for everything, Mary!!
Mary was an excellent host -- ever-ready to offer assistance, and an enthusiastic conversationalist! The room and the breakfast both had a nice "at home" feel.
The best side perk was being able to borrow a bicycle at will, to get into the city center (and also to get back) in just 10 minutes, without having to depend on a bus.
Mary and her daughter Emma were so, so lovely! They were extremely helpful and made certain that I didn't have a single worry or stress during my stay. Their fantastic hospitality played a huge role in how much I enjoyed my visit to Belfast!
I had a lovely stay with Mary in Belfast. She helped me with everything I needed and pointed me towards some great sights. Thanks
Once again, Mary was the perfect hostess. She goes out of her way to ensure you have a wonderful experience in Belfast -- and her house is the perfect resting spot for the weary traveler (or in my case, researcher). I would definitely recommend to friends!
Mary is a lovely and caring host in an almost 100 year old home with all the quirks and loveliness that provides. It is situated in a pretty neighborhood and the bus stop is a block or two away. Her breakfasts were great. Mary makes every effort to see that you have what you need and is wonderful about helping you get where you are going. I would go back in a heartbeat.
