Cafés to work from. Cardinal Coffee House is five minutes away and has the best specialty coffee in Roma Norte, fast and reliable WiFi, and a room that is productive without being a library. Get there before 10 AM if you want a table. Buna Café, seven minutes, is the quiet option; the WiFi is excellent and the flat white is worth the walk. Madre Café is three minutes away and is a brunch institution, known for its chilaquiles and its baked goods. It fills up on weekends, so go early.
Eating. Mercado Roma, eight minutes, is a food hall with more than twenty vendors: tacos, sushi, burgers, most things. Budget 150 to 300 pesos. Tacos Hola does the fish tacos. Marmota, six minutes, is small plates with a Mediterranean lean, intimate enough for a date, 400 to 600 pesos, and three or four plates is right for two people. Pizza Felix, ten minutes, does classic and creative pizzas for 200 to 350 pesos, and the margherita comes out perfect.
Drinking. Baltra Bar, seven minutes, craft cocktails with a speakeasy feel, 150 to 250 pesos. Xaman Bar, nine minutes, is the mezcal specialist and draws a local crowd. Pulquería Las Duelistas, twelve minutes, is a traditional pulque bar and probably the most interesting drink you will have around here.
Groceries. Mercado Medellín, twelve minutes, for fresh produce, meat and spices. There is a 7-Eleven and an OXXO three minutes away, open 24 hours, for water and whatever you forgot.
Coworking, if you want a change of desk. WeWork Insurgentes is fifteen minutes and a day pass runs about 400 pesos. Impact Hub is ten minutes, around 300 pesos, and more community focused.
Parks. Parque México, fifteen minutes into Condesa, is Art Deco and good for morning runs and picnics. Parque España, eight minutes, is quieter and better for a short break.
A few things worth knowing. Roma Norte is completely walkable, so walk. Keep Uber or DiDi on your phone for rainy days. Basic Spanish goes a long way with the neighbours. Restaurant tips run 10 to 15 percent.
