Interaction with Guests
I manage this property for Ben, and I live in the main part of the house, but rarely see guests. I want to communicate with you online to set things up and then you'll be able to access the key through a coded lockbox; I change the code after each stay.
You're situated in one of the best neighborhoods in San Francisco for nightlife and access to the city. There's a fabulous park up the hill roughly a 10-minute walk from the front door. From there you get views of the Golden gate Bridge as well as the Bay Bridge and the entire Silicon Valley Peninsula -- wave to (website hidden), Netflix, and Intel! It's really wonderful at first light or at sunset. To get there simply keep walking uphill and look for staircases in between some of the houses that lead up to the next block. It's also a great area to walk dogs so you'll see lots of neighbors out.
Mission Street is the main street below the house where you'll find dozens of restaurants including tacos, burritos, Thai food, Chinese and some great higher-end places.
There are a number of buses that pick up at the corner of Mission and Fair immediately below the house. The 14 and 49 Muni Bus head along mission all the way downtown. If you walk 15 minutes up Mission Street, you reach the 24th St. BART station.
There are a half dozen zip car locations within a half-mile of the house. If you have a membership, it's a great deal at $7-$15 an hour including gas and insurance. Look them up for short term car rentals.
Enterprise rent a car has a facility at 13th and Mission and if you call ahead they will come pick you up for your rental free of charge. Use this for rentals over 24 hours.
Other Things to Note
Our garden is significantly cut back because of California's drought. We're very water aware here, and maintaining a few flowers did not seem like a wise choice. You still have access to the space, including the table and chairs in the yard, but it is not as pretty as it once was! Sorry about this!
The studio unit is a separate building from the main house, but please be aware that you share a wall with us. We expect guests to have fun, enjoy the space, and leave it as clean and maintained as they found it. Please no smoking in the unit or backyard. If you do smoke, do so in the driveway in the front of the unit.
Perfect location, small room, small bed, small price. As described. Thanks Patrick, everything was clean and ready for our arrival.
Nice clean space, small but entirely functional. Having a space outside is a very nice perk.
We didn't even see Patrick. We were coming and going and arrived late the first day. Patrick checked in with us by text the day after we arrived to make sure everything was ok. It was perfect. Very private but we felt like we could ask for anything we needed.
Description was accurate cute little studio. The bed really can only fit one person (as they make clear in the listing) but there's an air mattress for another person that is very easy to set up.
Neighborhood wasn't the best wasn't the worst. We never felt threatened or weird in any way. SF is off because one street won't be great then one block over it's super nice. Overall great location we would definitely stay there again.
The room was simple and clean. Although there was no microwave, I ran water through the coffee maker to hot water for tea and cup o' noodles. I bought groceries two blocks away at Safeway. Patrick was great and checked in via text to make sure I got in all right and asked if there was anything I needed. I didn't hang out in the area, but took the 14 and 49 muni buses to downtown instead (bus stop located down the block).
A few days before my trip, Patrick emailed me the information packet about the room. There is a Gate with a code and instructions to get the key. The room is tucked back in a private garden and I was able to go in and out all week without feeling like I was disturbing someone. The Wifi was fast and reliable. There are lots of restaurants in the immediate area (as well as Mitchell's Ice Cream) which makes meals easy. There were clean towels, clean sheets, clean shower, and a mini fridge. What more could you need for your visit?
This was my first Airbnb experience so I wasn't totally sure what to expect -- it was great! The location was perfect for exploring the city (close to restaurants, parks, cute coffee shops, yoga studio, and public transport). The host was super accommodating and helpful -- sending clear info and advice ahead of time, responding quickly to questions, and giving us everything we need. The unit is cozy small, but as advertised. You don't need anything bigger. My sister and I stayed there together and we never felt cramped -- she slept on the bed and I slept on the (quite comfortable) air mattress. It was super clean, and felt private and safe -- all important things for us. I hesitate to recommend this so highly because I want it to be available next time I'm in town :). But, it was great!
Tiny little studio in a great location-- walkable to everywhere in the Mission. Patrick was responsive and very helpful. If you have a car, this place is a great option- parking for ten bucks a day is a great deal.
I am a teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District. I have lived in San Francisco since 2007, and loved every minute of it! I enjoy gaming, movies, my cat, and the sun when we can see it. I manage the rental property for Ben Foss in San Francisco, and I hope you can stay with us!
