Where you’ll be

Vieques, Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico

The driveway to the villa is shared with only one tiny house, located up the hill. The villa is surrounded by jungle and is very quiet. Most neighborhoods in Vieques can be a bit noisy with dogs, roosters, and blasting car "radios." The area surrounding Casa Baraka is pure peace and quiet. Of course the famous coqui frogs will serenade you all night long!

Hi there! My name is Brittany and my co-host is Eddy. I relocated to Vieques, Puerto Rico in 2016, a move that was both intimidating and exciting. I'd just finished traveling all over South America for a year and a half, and was anxious to stay put for a while. As I got settled in and discovered the charm of the island and all it has to offer, I realized just how blessed I was to live in this island paradise. My personal philosophy is that the energy we share with the world is the energy that we will receive. Thus I always try to do what is in my heart, see the best in those around me, take time to connect to and appreciate mother nature, and give as much love as I possibly can. So, ditch the smartphones and shoes, people! Slow down, feel the sand between your toes, listen to the sea, and talk to strangers. Oh, and just breathe! That is my advice to you :) In 2018 my Uncle Eddy was blessed to achieve his dream of retiring early from his job as a public defender in Brooklyn and he moved down here to join me at Casa Baraka. He is my wonderful co-host and we are so happy to be able to open our beautiful family home to others and offer them a place where they can feel welcome and comfortable while they explore the magical island of Vieques. I plan to resume my world travels and will leave you in Uncle Eddy's more-than-capable hands when I do. He is a natural-born host and was the first in our family to discover "Isla Nena," as our island is called by locals. I wish you all a restful and transformative experience; you will leave changed, no matter how you might resist. ;-) Namaste.
