The Space

Las Palmas is a beautiful bungalow community nestled in the shady rainforest that caps Manuel Antonio. Set within a biological corridor, the area is a major thoroughfare for local wildlife--it is a common occurrence here to see monkeys, sloths, iguanas, basilisks and other animals. Though located just a few hundred feet from the main road and thus numerous shops and restaurants, it enjoys a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The commercial center of Quepos is just five minutes away, and Manuel Antonio's beautiful beach and national park are just ten minutes up the road.

This condo has been tastefully updated and features mosaic tile details throughout. On the main level, the bungalow has a front patio/outdoor living area, leading indoors to the living room, full kitchen, and full bathroom. Upstairs is the lofted bedroom, a spacious open area with a vaulted ceiling and hardwood floors. The bedroom can accommodate up to four people, and contains a double bed, a twin bed, and a trundle bed underneath the twin bed. Sliding glass doors open out to a private balcony with relaxing jungle views and sounds.

This condo is in an ideal setting for a romantic get-away or a cozy family retreat. The beautiful, sunny pool area is a great spot to relax the day away as it is spacious and partially shaded so many people can co-exist happily. The pool is a great alternative/complement to a trip to the many nearby beaches. From your relaxing resting place at the pool, you will likely observe the daily travels of troops of different kinds of beautiful monkeys as they traverse the jungle canopy. The bungalow is also ideal as a personal getaway or studio residence.

HIGHLIGHTS: Enchanting bungalow community in jungle garden paradise, stunning blue-tile pool with monkey visitors to nearby trees, easy access to the delightful beaches and restaurants of the Quepos area, WIFI & AC in your own Costa Rican Casa.

The Neighborhood

Recommended Restaurants:

Salsipuedes – Manuel Antonio; owner is an Argentinian woman we know and like. Great sunset views.

Soda Sanchez – Quepos; not sure if it still exists, but it has great local Costa Rican food if it does.

Agua Azul – Manuel Antonio; a bit more expensive but delicious.

Ronnie’s Place – Manuel Antonio; a bit off the main road (you should take a short cab ride to get there since it’s a dirt road); great sangria and beautiful sunsets; good for dinner.

Café Milagro – Manuel Antonio; owned by an expat entrepreneur named Adrienne who we know; great food and best service you’ll find in Manuel Antonio. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes they have live music at night.

Falafel restaurant (I forget the name) – located across the street from Café Milagro in Manuel Antonio; newer restaurant (email hidden); heard really good things about it.

Fun Excursions:

River Rafting – Amigos del Rio is the company we like and use. They pick you up and provide lunch.

Trimaran Sunset Sails Tours - (website hidden); family owned and operated; not your 20-something booze cruise experience; much more family-friendly). They feed you lunch and pick you up, also unlimited alcohol while on cruise.

Zip-lining – I can’t recall the company we used, as it was several years back but I know they have a lot of options of companies to choose from, so perhaps look it up online and see what folks get the best reviews. It was a lot of fun. They feed you lunch and pick you up.

Manuel Antonio National Park – best way to do the park is to go early in the day so you can see the most animals; hire a guide (they have several there ready and waiting) as the guide will be better at pointing out the animals; bring your bathing suits (there are 3 beautiful beaches that you can only access via the MA National Park).

Playa Besanz – this is a more hidden beach that you’ll have to ask people how to find; it’s located down a hill on a street across from Café Milagro. This is a much quieter and arguably prettier beach than the main Manuel Antonio Beach.

Getting around

There is a good public bus that picks up right next to Hotel El Mono Azul. Taxis are everywhere as well.

  • We had a great time staying here! Lots to see and do with the bus easy and cheap from the end of the road. Lovely little gem

  • This bungalow and the community it is a part of it truly paradise! My partner and I stayed 3 nights in March and did not want to leave. Alaia sent us very detailed directions and a howler monkey welcomed our arrival singing up in the trees. Everyone we met in the neighboring bungalows was helpful & welcoming. We swam in the beautiful, clean pool every day and cooked our meals in the well-equipped kitchen. The bed was extremely comfortable and A/C kept us cool at night. The WIFI is very fast and I could even videochat with family back in the States.

The best part of the stay is the charming character of the bungalows. It feels like you have your own private tree house away from the hustle and bustle of tourism while still close to restaurants, the national park and the beach.

  • We had an amazing stay here. It really made our holiday, we got to chill out right in the middle of the rainforest and watch the wildlife go by. We seen whole troops of monkeys and loads of birds, lizards and insects. The location was perfect, near to Quepos which is a really nice wee town, much nicer than the overly touristy Manuel-Antonio park area (but it's close enough for when you want to go see the park). Alaia is great too, she was very helpful.
    Overall we'd really recommend it,
    Thanks Alaia!

  • We had a great time staying at the Bungalow. Is it close to everything, although set far enough back from the main strip that it is peaceful. The neighbors are very welcoming and there are loads of jungle creatures all around the house. We were lucky enough to see a sloth and two toucans outside our window! The pool was lovely after a day of beaching and activities, and it was very nice having a full kitchen and bathroom. Thanks!

  • Charming! Although the bungalow presented some common Costa Rican travel challenges (navigation to/from in the absence of signs and narrowness of roadways, ants, occasional power outages, and "fragile" plumbing), it was really a lovely and rustic and romantic place to stay. It was close to the sites in Manuel Antonio, but far enough away to remove one from the tourist fray. The bungalow is located in its own little rain forest, and the surroundings are just beautiful. There is even a beautiful pool that goes unused most days. Richard, the manager, is AWESOME. A super friendly American ex-pat who was so helpful and amazingly hospitable. So too were the neighbors we met. This place is an awesome deal, and I would recommend it highly. I am SO glad we stayed here instead of a touristy resort closer in to the beach or national forest. Thanks, Alaia, for a wonderful stay.
