2 bed home for rent AVAILABLE 16 May - 6 JUNE 2015 and from SEPTEMBER 2015 onwards .. sleeps 4/6 .. large sociable garden and all home comforts. Gas stove in lounge, two bathrooms, large kitchen diner with patio doors. King and double rooms.
Loretto is my permanent home - a Victorian red standstone semi detached villa with a large secluded south west facing garden. The large airy kitchen dining room can seat up to 8 people and the patio doors look on to the decking and a private, fully enclosed garden, with furniture for outside dining and space to play and relax.
Filled with original art work, my home has comfortable areas to eat and relax in and outdoors. This is not a minimalist home, it is full of colour and interest....There are two bathrooms (1 with real fire), 3 bedrooms upstairs (one is a dressing room right now, will not be accessible to guests apart from to iron! But the lounge can sleep two people). Would consider a house swap for whole house and could accommodate 6 people in 2 bedrooms and one lounge.
Loretto is situated in the Maxwelltown area of Dumfries, on the edge of what was originally an old market town, situated on the river Nith.
Dumfries is a busy central point for surrounding countryside with art house cinema (Robert Burns Film Centre Theatre RBCFT), camera obscura and Museum, museums, Gracefield Arts Centre, galleries, pubs, hotels, cafes and riverside location for lovely walks.
A university town with The Crichton Campus hosting the Universities of Glasgow, Paisley and the University of the West of Scotland. The Crichton Carbon Center attracts international visitors.
Dumfries is well placed to enjoy the beautiful Galloway countryside, near Kirkcudbright (artists town), Castle Douglas (food town) and within reach of Wigtown (book town) and the Mull of Galloway. The Caerlaverock wetlands centre is also situated close by, as are the Seven Stanes Mountain biking centres.
The Lake District is within easy reach to the south.
The whole house - however all of my possessions are in the house and therefore if you are looking for a sparse holiday cottage this is no for you! IIf you are looking for a cosy and colourful place to stay then Loretto may be for you.
Interaction with Guests
With information and to trouble shoot if (highly unlikely) necessary!
Lovely area with museum, observatory and art house cinema only minutes away on the river Nith. Quiet and secluded garden. Easy access to Galloway, the Lake District, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Almost right outside the door there is a bus to town with all public modes of transport.
Other Things to Note
Off road parking for two med sized cars
Absolutely no smoking in house. Pets allowed. Will consider a house swap in 2016 AND renting out for holidays in May/June and from September 2015 as I leave full time work and begin travelling.
