Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
My place is close to family-friendly activities, great views, kayaking, fishing, rafting, hiking. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, XC skiing near by and families (with kids).

PLEASE BE ADVISED: Daylight check in required! We will not be available for showing you the way in the dark. This is a heavily forested area that can be challenging.

We have unleashed dogs that are extremely friendly. We do not allow additional pets. Burn ban in summer. AWD in winter. Happy trails!

The space
We are tucked in the woods, only 12 miles from Hood River. You will be surrounded by wildlife as well as domesticated animals. We have very friendly dogs, Quilla and Griffin that will greet you. They are off leash at all times and extremely friendly. However, if you are timid of dogs, this would not be a good fit. For liability reasons we do not allow guests to bring pets.

Our yurt offers you a Glamping (glamorous camping) experience. We hope you will find just what you need to be comfortable.

Summer months have a state wide burn ban which prohibits outdoor bonfires. Winter months do not allow for shower amenities. May- October, bring shower shoes and a robe for outdoor shower!!

If you book in the winter, please be advised it will be as cold as staying in tent- bring your own wood. Keep in mind that this is still considered camping. Although comfortable, please don't expect it to have all the luxuries of a home. Bring some cozy slippers to keep your feet warm as we prefer shoes left at the door.

Guest access
Guest MUST arrive in daylight. In the winter that means by 4:00pm. I will likely not be able to accommodate you if you arrive in the dark. You have access to an outdoor shower/toilet, not available for showering in the winter months. Hot water for the shower is finicky and dependent upon the ambient temperature. You will need to be physically fit enough to walk down and up a moderate to steep hill for 500 feet. Water is a limited resource, so we ask guests to be conservative with their usage. The bathroom/shower is an outdoor structure exposed to the elements. Guests are responsible for firewood to heat the yurt.

You will need all-wheel-drive to reach our location during inclement weather and winter conditions. You may also need boots to walk down the 500 foot path to the Yurt.

There is a charcoal bbq and picnic table for outdoor eating. Our neighbors request that we respect their borders and do not wander onto their property. Houses along the road ask that we all drive extremely slow, 10 mph at the most.

This is usually a winter wonderland during the month of November, December, January and sometimes February. We are close to cross country ski areas.

Other things to note
There are no fires allowed during burn ban months- June thru September.

We believe our space to have all of the comforts that one would need but are continually adding more. Enjoy a sometimes warm shower in nature with the open air design. Bring food for simple camp style cooking or to bbq outside. Grill provided but you need to bring charcoal. Headlamps, slippers, shower shoes, maybe a robe for walking to and from bathroom/shower are all good items to consider. During the winter months, it can get a bit chilly at night. If you would like to use the wood burning stove to keep yourself cozy, we ask that you bring your own fully cured firewood. Wood and water are our precious commodities!

Winter reservations will be without shower. This is still considered a primitive living style.

Our dogs are off leash. They protect our other animals from skunks, raccoons and coyotes. They are extremely friendly and our guests love them! However, if you’re timid of dogs, this is not a good fit.

We live in the woods. Some would say in the Deep woods! It's a dirt road to our house and although the county does care for it during winter months, you will need AWD to even make it up our driveway. We have a great proximity to Pahto, Mount Adams. There are plenty of trails and fun winter sports to do up there including cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Please be advised, we cannot offer you a warm shower during winter months. You need to be OK with roughing it a little bit :-) also, we are parents to two children. Out of respect for their bedtimes as well as the neighborhood we ask that guests arrive during daylight hours. We will not be able to assist you past dark for your arrival. The area is too challenging for you to navigate on your own in the late night. We want you to safely see the area and have a wonderful time.

There is a wooden round house about 75 feet from the yurt that is occupied. The tenants there are extremely respectful of guests and will be available to assist with guest needs. Please also respect their privacy.

Expect a burn ban to be in effect as of July 1 until usually October 1. The county does not allow any fires of any sort.
