It was founded by Greek settlers from the island and one of the oldest cities on the Mediterranean,
and Trogir name probably comes from the Greek name of a nearby mountain Kozjak or Tragos
(tragos is greek for Goat).
Trogir is built entirely of stone and has retained its old-fasioned look,
and it's called by many visitors "stone beauty" and "city of art".
The most important monument is the nave cathedral (13.ct.-15.ct.) with known portal of master Radovan made in 1240.
Radovan was initially created in distinctive syntesis of Romanesque and Gothic style,
so he became a trademark of Trogir sculpting and Croatian medieval art.
In the mid 15th century, the large castle Karmelengo was built (Camerlengo - prince's treasurer),
and within the city walls there was several gates, the North gate is the most prominent,
over them stands a statue of BL. John of Trogir (15.ct.).
Within the walls were impressed many noble crests and preserved numerous
places and magnificent editions of the respective noble family,
in whose possession was once the issues such as the Large and Small Cipiko palace, Lucic or Garagnin.
Trogir is called a museum city with regard to the whole center and old town can be visited
at no less for the 750 steps and walk through it
where you can see traces of the rich history of Trogir,
from the Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Slavs and Croats.
The city is the seat of municipality, which covers an area along the coast
of Rogoznica to Resnik, then the islands of Little and Big Drvenik and half of the island Ciovo.
Experience music outdoors or visit a summer theater in the Tower Camerlengo a single environment
that is part of the city walls.
Go up to the Trogir Cathedral of St. Lawrence dedicated to Blessed John and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view.
The Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica, with hermit facilities from 1546, situated among cliffs,
lies on the southeast side of the island.
A well located pretty apartment. Just a short walk to the old city. Wireless didn't work, but a café was right next door.
We had a lovely time at Danielas apartment! It was very clean and tidy and she has everything you need! A nice cosy bedroom and a big nice kitchen/livingroom! The apartment is 5 min walking from the City centre but very quiet! But the Best thing was the nice terrace! Sitting there, we had a lovely time! Thank you!
Sicuramente consigliata!
Top location. Historical trogir on walking distance.
The appartment is nice , the terras and garden are super. Wifi did not work during our stay, but if you go outsite the appartment and drink a coffee in one of the two bars next to the entrance of the appartment you can use their wifi.
We enjoyed our stay at bifora Trogir and wish we could have stayed longer!
The apartment is well served and Danijela was very helpful, it's a short walk into Trogir and easy to get a taxi boat to beaches nearby and a 10-15 minute walk to the bus station.
