Old characteristic house in the cente of Leiden. Very close to Schiphol, Amsterdam and the beach. One double bed but possibilities to lay a mattress or a bed for a child. Also two cats living in the house, you don't need to feed them, friend of mine does.
It is an old house. Downstairs a long room, separated in two parts: dining room and living room. There is also a small kitchen and a garden. In the garden there is always both sun and shade.
Upstairs there a two bedrooms. One room has a double bed. We use the other room for our clothes and to store stuff. It is possible to lay there a mattress. We do have a mattress and we also have a bed for a child. It is a very pleasant house to live in!
The neighbourhood is pleasant: friendly and quiet. It is close to the centre (7 minutes walk) and close to a big and cheap supermarket. There is also a good and small (and more expensive) greengrocer in the street and a playground. The house is close to the Central trainstation and busstation (5 minutes walk).
The city of Leiden is an old city. There are some interesting museums to visit, nice terrace boats, shops, restaurants, bars, cinema's and lot of other things to do in summer or during the year. It is also nearby Schiphol airport (15 minutes by train), Amsterdam (30 minutes by train), The Hague (15 minutes by train), Rotterdam (30 minutes by train), Utrecht (45 minutes by train). The Keukenhof in Lisse (45 minutes), beaches (30 minutes by bike).
Also Antwerp and Brussels (Belgium) is not far away (2 or 3 hours by car).
We do have two cats living with us. You don't need to feed them, a good friend of mine, living in the same street as we do, will feed them.
Me and my friend Margarida had a great time in Leiden! Esther's house was very cosy, clean and near to the centre! Her friend Frouke, who received us, was very nice too. We thank Esther for all the tips, maps, and for answering so quickly to my emails.
I definitely recomend this home to spend a pleasant time in Leiden!
Ps: the cats are awesome!
The apartment is great, close to everything you need in Leiden and the Netherlands, with two beaaautiful cats (Joey in particular is extremely friendly and sweeeet!). It has a real Dutch feel that my parents and I love about staying at a local's place through airbnb.com. I will definitely book this place again the next time I'm back in the Netherlands!
Pieter and Esther's apartment was great! It's almost in a very pleasant part of Leiden, close to the train station and to the historical center of Leiden, supermarket round the corner. The house is very clean and cozy and there's lot's of space. There were only two of us but is seemed like a dozen could stay there. And a very nice garden in the yard.
You guys have the cutest apartment! I loved staying there! It was so conveniently located, close enough to the train station, LUMC and the town centre. I was so comfortable there and would totally love to stay there if/when I visit again! :) Thank you for hosting me!
Cheers from Canada!
ps. You have the friendliest cats ever!
My partner, baby girl and I stayed there for 5 nights. It was great. Location is very convenient and the house was very clean. There was a bed ready for our little girl, who is 7 month and plenty of towels ready for us (more than at the fancy hotels!). The 2 cats are very friendly and we did not have to worry about them, just replenish the food once a day which was not a problem. We did not make use of the terrace but it was very nice and would have like to have time to sit there with some wine. Overall, I would definitely recommand staying at Pieter and Esther.
