Downtown Oasis 2 - Quiet Retreat!

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Nueces Street, Austin, TX 78701, United States

The Space

This completely renovated condo is in the heart of downtown Austin. Walking distance to Campus, the AT&T Conference Center, the Erwin Center, the Capitol, and even 6th street. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, bamboo floors, and beautiful new fixtures. Snacks and beverages await you when you arrive. Nicer than a hotel room with all the conveniences of home.

Technically a studio, the bedroom area has been nicely appointed (queen size bed) and separated from the living room with curtains. This lends visual privacy in case you have 2 more friends staying in the living area. There are plenty of linens, extra pillows, throw blankets, and even a full-size fold-out mattress to use with all the linens and foam topper in the closets. Make yourself at home watching TV (DVD player and some DVDs available for your use), using the wireless internet, or cooking a meal in the beautiful kitchen with all new, state-of-the-art appliances. There is a laundry room next door to the condo where you can do your laundry for free. (Tide pods and bounce sheets provided!)

Please note: this unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. There is also no pool or play area for small children.

Nueces Street is a quiet street with plenty of parking (free after 6 and on Sundays) and feels light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is free parking under the building (in assigned spot) and the building itself could not be any quieter. You will truly enjoy this downtown oasis!

If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away.

Four blocks from the UT campus, eight blocks from the Erwin Center, eleven blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need!

A note on check-in and check-out - it's as easy as can be at Downtown Oasis 2. While I love meeting my guests, often it works out easier to give you the code to the electronic lock. So it is never a problem if you need to arrive late or leave early - there is a solution in place!

Please let me know how many people will be staying and if you need the extra mattress made up in advance. There is no charge for extra guests (max 4) but it helps me allot enough time for cleaning and preparation when I have proper information.

*Downtown Oasis 2 is right next door to Downtown Oasis, which is also my property. They are very similar in layout and identical in amenities.

  • The Downtown Oasis was a very comfortable and well appointed one bedroom apartment which is a short walk from the UT campus. Alexis is a wonderful host and we will stay here again when we come back.

It was a little tight, but with the extra bed we were comfortably able to fit three for a two day stay.

  • I stayed in Alexis's apartment while when I was in town for SXSW. It was a work trip, and the apartment was truly a quiet oasis for me after long and very busy days. The apartment was absolutely spotless and had everything I needed. Checking in couldn't have been easier. Alexis was in touch regularly and was incredibly nice and helpful. From the apartment, it's about a half hour walk to the Austin Convention Center downtown: a nice walk, especially if you go through the Capitol grounds. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience! Recommended eating nearby: check out The Clay Pit nearby if you like Indian food. It was delicious. The Dog & The Duck pub, also around the corner, is a fun and pretty mellow neighborhood bar.

  • Although I didn't get to meet Alexis, she was easily within reach through text and kept in contact with me before my stay to ensure I had all the information I needed! The apartment had everything my friend and I needed, and it was super handy having a washer & dryer right next door! Location was good - it was quiet yet a short 5-10 min drive from everywhere we wanted to go. Alexis is probably one of the better hosts I ever had as she left a personalized message as well as some snacks and drinks for our stay! I would definitely stay here again if I was to come back to Austin. Thanks Alexis!

  • Alexis was quick to respond and her place was exactly what we needed. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Alexis again in the future for stays in Downtown Austin.

  • Alexis is a fantastic host and Downtown Oasis 2 was a really nice condo in a great location close to the UT campus and the capitol building. The neighborhood quiet with easy access to more upbeat parts of the city. The condo is well taken care of with a number of and was fully stocked with snacks, neighborhood guides, tools, appliances, easy access to laundry, and such.

Alexis communicated well and often without being overly intrusive and she was always quick to respond to texts or emails.

If I get the opportunity to return to Austin, one of Alexis' properties will certainly be my first choice.

  • We loved our time at the Downtown Oasis 2. My coworker and I were both in town for meetings on the Drag with students. It was less than a 10 minute walk each morning - so convenient. Alexis even left snacks, drinks and a welcome note for us. She was a wonderful host. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay. It was great for 2 people. It seems like it might be a tight squeeze for 4 but it is a great deal and Alexis was a wonderful host and stayed in contact with us throughout the week. Definitely recommended her!

  • Our 3 night stay at Downtown Oasis 2 was wonderful. The apt had everything we could possibly need; hair dryer, iron, Roku and snacks...even a tool kit. It has more amenities than my apartment! Oasis 2 was clean and in a great, quiet location. I recommend renting a car to get around. Best of all, Alexis is a pleasure to speak with. She replies to emails/texts promptly and is super nice!

  • We stayed in Downtown Oasis 2 for two weeks in January, and I can say that if you have business in the central campus of the University of Texas, or anywhere in downtown Austin, Alexis' is definitely the place for you! It's located in a quiet and safe neighborhood, with good restaurants and stores only a few blocks away. But in my opinion the best about it is that Alexis will be glad to do anything to make you feel at home. The whole place is bright clean and really well kept, the kitchen, bathroom and closet are completely equipped, the bed and the rest of the furniture are nice and comfortable, there's cable tv and wireless internet, a laundry room next door, air-conditioning and, if that wasn't enough, upon your arrival you will find a basket of welcoming snacks and a few basic complimentary provisions according to your request. An interesting thing was that, even though we had icy weather in Austin during our stay, the apartment's isolation made it nicely warm. Should there be any trouble, or even if you just need some good advice about places to eat or visit, you will always find Alexis available via phone or SMS. I think she's one of the best hosts I have ever known in my life, and her Downtown Oasis 2 is 100% recommended.

  • We had a great experience staying at the apartment. The location was very quiet and convenient- we did some walking and some driving over the weekend but nothing was too far. The place was very clean and Alexis made sure that we had everything we needed. We would absolutely stay here again.

About
My passions range from books, movies, animals, and anything Austin to traveling the world. I've seen many of the great sights here in the U.S. and have also managed to visit Canda, Mexico, Australia, several places in the Caribbean, many countries in Europe, and a variety of countries in Asia. Singapore is probably my favorite country, but just to visit! I grew up in Connecticut and then migrated out to Austin in the 90s. After leaving to live in L.A., Houston, San Diego, and Seattle, I made my way back to Austin and am so happy to be back where I belong!
