We are a three-season wedding venue. We usually have weekends booked, but midweek trips are welcome. We sometimes have music events. Guests are welcome and seem to enjoy the entertainment without traveling.
The space
River Winds Farm & Estate is a family-owned and operated event venue and horse farm conveniently located in Saco, Maine, on 160 sprawling acres of manicured lawns and gardens, pastures and trails, and woodlands fronting the Saco River. The property features a fully restored historic home, Austin House, as accommodations, a large event barn, equestrian boarding and performance arena, and numerous outdoor amenities for guests to experience. The estate is the perfect setting for a family vacation. We are just minutes from the highway, Portland jetport and historic Old Port, where you can enjoy the quaint shops or eat in an amazing local restaurant. A short drive to several beaches or a day trip to Kennebunkport, Ogunquit or Boston.
We are a working horse farm, you very likely could see people who board their horses on the farm riding on the trails, or River Winds staff making hay to feed the horses in the winter.
We also have an event barn where you could host a special event such as a wedding, anniversary, family reunion or birthday. Our Event Manager could assist you in the planning and guide you to local vendors. A separate contract is necessary for barn events and additional guests. Some occasions we host public music events! Austin House guests are welcome to attend our music events.
We have an indoor heated pool perfect for a midwinter getaway with the family. Depending on Mother Nature, we have a skating pond, snowmobile, and cross-country ski trails. Consider us next time you're looking for a little rest and relaxation. .
Guest access
Guests staying at Austin House will have full, private access to the historic home, including the indoor heated pool—perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the estate or nearby beaches. The surrounding 160-acre River Winds Farm & Estate is yours to enjoy, including walking trails, manicured lawns, gardens, and views of the Saco River.
While this is a working horse farm, guests are welcome to watch riders on the trails and catch a glimpse of daily farm life. You may even see staff tending to the horses or making hay.
In the winter months (weather permitting), guests can enjoy skating on the pond or access snowmobile and cross-country ski trails directly from the property.
If you’re staying during one of our public music events, you’re more than welcome to attend!
