Our family stayed here for three nights- it's a terrific place, and Nestor and Alicia took great care of us... highly recommended!
Dude trip: 3 NYC'ers and a 'rambler' meet up, post Bogota-stabbing, in Katia's house. Full-time staff is there, welcoming, with open arms, limited English, and flutes of passable rose.
All of us are impressed with the thoughtful layout and design of the house. The fully open first floor, the air conditioned bedrooms and living spaces, the patio and 'pool' on the roof.
Friendly buzzards/vultures land every morning on the roof, greeting those that have woken up there in a haze. The streets are exploding with flowers. At 11 am, every morning, a man walks past the front door yelling 'Pescado' in a lilting voice: a bucked of fish, on ice, ready to be plucked and cooked.
Truly hard to complain about anything.
I almost don't want to recommend this place too highly: I plan on going back next year—assuming the authorities will let us back in the country—and want to make sure it is available.
One small nit: hot water in showers worked intermittently. You don't really notice, as it is 88 every day, but if you crave a blisteringly hot shower as part of your morning ablutions, you may want to look somewhere else.
Alicia and Nestor the wonderful warmhearted people who run the house 24/7 welcomed us with the chilled white wine that I asked Katia to prepare for me and which she gave us as a welcome gift - delicous chilean sauvignon blanc! - we arrived in the evening - it was already dark and the whole house was lit up with candles / a magic atmosphere - the whole city is a time machine - it was our first visit and we are in love for life! the house is very stylish with lots of cool art, a smart mix of colonial and modern - a wonderful and luxurious atmosphere. Alicia cooks like a god all day long if you want - she does all the shopping - you just tell her roughly what you want (fish, meat , sweets,...) and she does the magic - we dined out only once., and generally hardly wanted to leave the house - you hang either in the swinging bench by the pool, or in the generous salon or in the wonderful terrace with its large shaded lounge beds... Nestor handles the house discreetly and invisibly - whatever you need - he finds it - the city wraps you up in this soft mellow flow - nothing is a problem, always a smile, relaxed, no hustle...altogether a 5star+ experience - we will be back!
