The space

This house is a 1941 pre-war Art Deco building that has been painstakingly restored into a stylish abode epitomizing a 'new luxury' that is smart, pared down and charming, while maintaining its old world quaintness.
On arrival, a 20 footer lap pool that lined with bougainvillea received you like a secret garden.
The master room is generous in size, stylish in details with the combination of contemporary and century old furnishing. Set within a backdrops of textured brick walls that traced by the Dutch history. The bathroom is enclave with rain shower and overlooking an oversize outdoor bathtub and the city eclectic skyline.
Within minutes of walk you set foot in midst of the city most vibrant streets market, Jonker Walk. And abandon of pre-war buildings that houses cafes and souvenir shops, accompany your journey out.
Uniquely in the moods of multi influence of Portuguese, Dutch, British, Peranakan Chinese, Indians and Malays will make a nostalgic stay.
The house has a master bedroom with king size bed on the first floor and an attic bedroom with 2 single bed . We can comfortably accommodates maximum 4 guests at any one time.
The master bedroom is with attached shower and toilet.
The 2 single beds attic room is without toilet and shower. You can either share the bathroom on the first floor OR there is a shower and toilet on the ground floor next to the swimming pool.
As you enter the house, there is a dry pantry with a mini fridge, a microwave, a nespresso coffee machine and kettle for tea making facility. We provide culteries, plates and bowls, wine and champagne glasses. Ice bucket can be arranged on request.

Guest access

You get exclusive use of the 2.5 storey pre-war house when booked to stay with us.
We are located walking distance to most of the historic sites, the Dutch Square, the Christ church, Indian and Cheng Hoon Teng chinese temple and the 1845 Kampung Kling Mosque, the Baba Nyonya musuem, St Paul hill and even the shopping malls. Cafes, Baba Nyonya restaurants , Art galleries, antique shops and little India can be reach by foot.
Bicycles rental are available at the convenience shop nearby at an affordable fee.

Interaction with guests

We will keep in touch for your arrival details and wait for you in house for your arrival. A house briefing will be conducted during the check in process and a a map for you to get familiar with the neighbour hood. We provide free wifi in the house. We give you lots of privacy but you can reached Sharen by call or text if you need any assistance.
Daily housekeeping is provided anytime from 9am-5pm.

The neighborhood

We are opposite a bakery cafe called Eat at 18. Next door to a chinese vegeterian eatry, few steps away from 2 local coffee shop and 5 mins from the river. There is also a Chinese Dim Sum Shop serving breakfast less that 3 mins away. There are a number of local eatery that sell chinese cuisine nearby.
The Mosque, Indian Temple and Chinese temple are less than 5 minutes walk away and so as the Melaka river.

Getting around

If you are driving, we have an unofficial 5 foot way parking lot sufficient for one car in front of the house.
If you arriving by Coach from any other parts of Malaysia or Singapore. You will reached the Sentral Bus Terminal. From there, you can choose to take a cab/taxi that will cost you RM20/taxi OR you can even take a domestics bus from the other end of the terminal that cost less than RM2/person.
Stop at Dutch Square/Town Square. Walk across towards the river and cross the bridge. You will see Hard Rock Cafe on your right. Walk straight into the big street ahead of you, JONKER STREET. Turn into JALAN HANG LEKIU the 2nd side street on your right hand side. At Jalan Hang Lekiu, walk straight ahead and you will see the MOSQUE on your right. Name of mosque is MASJID KAMPUNG KLING.
Pass the cross junction and walk straight ahead and you will see us on your left. NO 45 JALAN HANG LEKIU.

Other things to note

The famous Jonker Street is just around the corner. The Jonker Walk Night market that happen over the weekend from fri -Sun (6pm-12MN) is a great place for local food and craft. During this time some of the streets will be converted to pedestrian walk.

The house is painstakingly restored for years and furnished with owner's antiques and contemporary furnitures. Do handle with cares and respect as you would expect visitors in your home.

Check-in time is 2.00pm, and check-out time is 11.00am. Please be mindful at these times, as the house keeper is on a schedule. Thanks.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in the building in view of the house structure are made of wood. We love pets but pets are not allowed in the house.

As the house is entirely yours, children that uses the pool please have guidance from adult.
