NEW: Chic Dwtn Guest Room on Harbor

Apartment - Private room · Richards Street, Honolulu, HI 96813, United States

A fully furnished guest room in our 23rd floor, urban home and includes private bath. The condo has mountain, harbor, and city views. You'll be steps from Downtown and Chinatown, Aloha Tower, ‘Iolani Palace, State Capitol, and many bus lines. This is a prime location and gorgeous, modern apartment.

The Space

This apartment is spacious, airy, bright, and contemporary. All finishes have been remodeled in recent years, the home is well-maintined, and we have central air conditioning. All rooms—with the exception of the bathrooms—feature floor-to-ceiling windows from the 23rd floor over-looking downtown Honolulu, the historic Capital District, the Harbor, and views of mountains and sea.

We love our home and enjoy sharing it with interesting people from around the world!

(Note, this home is smoke and pet free.)

You'd stay in our guest room with a queen sized bed. It comfortably sleeps two. The room has closet space, harbor/mountain views, and an adjacent (though not connected) private bathroom with shower.

Guest Access

Guests will be given a set of keys to come and go as they please during their visit. The building has a secure entry and 24-hour security staff.

Interaction with Guests

We are both friendly and out-going hosts although our work hours and schedules mean we often aren't around. We're happy to share a drink with our guests and help answer questions about the area. We're also equally happy to let guests have a quiet visit and relax in their room if they're feeling less chatty. It's all good!

The Neighborhood

This is perfect neighborhood for visitors and residents alike!

We're on the edge of Downtown, the Capitol District, and Kaka‘ako. You're a quick walk to ‘Iolani Palace, Hawai‘i State Capitol, historic Kawaiaha‘o Church, St. Andrew's Cathedral, Aloha Tower, all of Chinatown's restaurants and shops, Hawai‘i Theater, elegant or hip downtown restaurants, and other historic & urban spots. For those who're beach-bound, you're a 20" bus ride (use the 2L, no transfers!) to Waikīkī Beach, and 15" to Ala Moana Beach Park.

Getting around

There's no better place to be on O‘ahu for transit.

This central location let's you grab TheBus to other parts of the island... all direct without transfers! Shopping in Kailua (30" on the 57), US history at Pearl Harbor (40" on the 40, 42, 60, or A), or surfing and shave ice in Hale‘iwa (90" on the 52).

Other Things to Note

A lot of folks ask about parking. Parking is tough in downtown and Waikīkī, like any city, but there are some options. And, for arrival/drop-off, there's a nice 'loading zone' in front of the building where you can drop your bags if there're more than one of you.

Our building's first 6 floors are all commercial parking garage. You're welcome to park there. For details, check out Makai Parking—they manage our garage.

We have a spot in the garage that we might be able to share during the workday. Juggle that with your travel plans and the evening discount, and you might be able to get by spending very little on parking.

  • If Miguel and Aaron's place is available, just book it; stop searching through Airbnb listings at 1am until your significant other says "Just pick one already!"

In all seriousness, we were very fortunate to have a pleasant, stress-free Airbnb experience at Aaron and Miguel's. The historic downtown location is fantastic as well as close to all bus lines. (You are also a short walk to Lucky Belly; you have wasted a trip to Honolulu if you don't eat here, just sayin.). The building is clean, secure, and modern. Miguel's condo is incredibly clean and comfortable. The pool was a great place to relax: quiet, clean, surrounded by flowers. I won't repeat what all the other positive reviews have already said, just know that they are correct!

Aaron and Miguel were beyond great hosts; accommodating, informative, and all around genuinely nice people!

They also win Airbnb award for biggest TV! (That's not an actual 'thing' of course, but having a big TV in your room is quite nice)
Thanks again Aaron and Miguel! :)

  • Great location, good view and friendly hosts. Check-in instructions were clear. Miguel and Aaron are wonderful people, and they made sure that we felt right at home. We chatted about music and culture. Wish we could have stayed longer. Aloha and Mahalo, Miguel and Aaron.

  • I booked Miguel's place for my uncle as the first stop of his business trip. Through the whole time Miguel is very considerate and helpful. Even helped my uncle to plan his itinerary in town. I am glad that Miguel is the first landlord to receive my uncle and gave him a wonderful stay. I will definitely stay with him if I visit Hawaii.

  • This is a great location to stay while in Honolulu; very central to many things and easily accessible by buses and competent taxi drivers. Miguel and Aaron are perfect hosts; very easy going and helpful with suggestions of places to go or eat. Their condo is clean and tidy with a great view. They even threw in a complimentary marching band parade at 6am (only because it was President's Day). Aside from being able to hear a bit of the street noise from below, everything was perfect! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for being great hosts, Miguel and Aaron!!

  • We wish we could have stayed longer!! Miguel and Aaron are so easygoing, genuine and interesting as well as very helpful. Their place is very comfortable, modern, clean and convenient. We were able to take an inexpensive city bus back and forth from the airport with no hassles, as well as an easy ride to Waikiki. We loved it.

  • What a gem, in a perfect location to explore Honolulu and Oahu, also right near the Federal buildings so great if you are here on business as well. 10-15 minutes from the airport and walking distance to Aloha Tower and some fun restaurants.

You are doing yourself a disservice if you only stay here for one night. Miguel and Aaron were exceptional hosts allowing me my privacy, but making sure that I had all I needed during my stay. The room and apt. were immaculate, with great views. When you were not looking out your room window there was a wonderful cable connected flatscreen in your room. WiFi was fast and reliable. I had no trouble parking, and there is a weekend flat rate in the building parking lot of $5/day, if you arrive on a Saturday make sure and pay for two days and you can come and go as you please the whole weekend for $10 and no one seemed to mind that I left around noon on Monday.

Miguel was very communicative via email and text making sure I knew how to get there and met me at the elevator on my arrival. Miguel and Aaron are keeping the Aloha spirit alive in Honolulu! Mahalo!

  • Barb and I thoroughly enjoyed our first ever airbnb experience with Miguel and Aaron. We arrived a little early so we went to a small restaurant around the corner to wait until Aaron got home to let us in. I called the airlines and got into a longer phone call than expected so we did not get to the apartment on time. About 10 minutes after our expected arrival, Aaron came up to us to ask if we were Bob and Barb. He actually went out into the neighborhood to look for us. He helped us carry our luggage to their beautiful apartment, which was spotlessly clean and looked even better than the pictures. Aaron helped us figure out which bus to take to get to Waikiki. The bus was about $3.00 for both of us and took about 30 minutes to get to the heart of Waikiki. When we returned I stayed up for a while to talk with Miguel and Aaron. In the morning we had about 3 hours before our flight so we asked them if they wanted to join us for breakfast. They chose a restaurant about 5 minutes away and drove us there. We really enjoyed their company during breakfast. All in all, it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend their apartment.

I'm a professor of music and joined the University of Hawai‘i faculty in 2011. I've lived in Boston and grew up in the Midwest. I first visited Airbnb in 2011 as the guest of a wonderfully friendly couple in San Francisco. Now that I'm settled in Honolulu, we're hoping to meet and host some wonderful folks from around the world! Aloha. My husband is a school teacher in the public schools and, when we're not working, we're often exploring this amazing island of O‘ahu. We're fascinated by Hawaiian culture, the arts, Honolulu's myriad restaurants, hiking and beaches, and spending time with our friends.
