A fully furnished guest room in our 23rd floor, urban home and includes private bath. The condo has mountain, harbor, and city views. You'll be steps from Downtown and Chinatown, Aloha Tower, ‘Iolani Palace, State Capitol, and many bus lines. This is a prime location and gorgeous, modern apartment.
From the living room couch we have a high-floor view of downtown Honolulu, the Harbor, and famous Aloha Tower.
This apartment is spacious, airy, bright, and contemporary. All finishes have been remodeled in recent years, the home is well-maintained, and we have central air conditioning. All rooms—with the exception of the bathrooms—feature floor-to-ceiling windows from the 23rd floor over-looking downtown Honolulu, the historic Capital District, the Harbor, and views of mountains and sea.
We love our home and enjoy sharing it with interesting people from around the world!
(Note, this home is smoke and pet free.)
You'd stay in our guest room with a queen sized bed. It comfortably sleeps two. The room has closet space, harbor/mountain views, and an adjacent (though not connected) private bathroom with shower.
Guests will be given a set of keys to come and go as they please during their visit. The building has a secure entry and 24-hour security staff.
Interaction with Guests
HANGING WITH US
We are both friendly and out-going hosts although our work hours and schedules mean we often aren't around. We're happy to share a drink with our guests and help answer questions about the area. We're also equally happy to let guests have a quiet visit and relax in their room if they're feeling less chatty. It's all good!
This is perfect neighborhood for visitors and residents alike!
We're on the edge of Downtown, the Capitol District, and Kaka‘ako. You're a quick walk to ‘Iolani Palace, Hawai‘i State Capitol, historic Kawaiaha‘o Church, St. Andrew's Cathedral, Aloha Tower, all of Chinatown's restaurants and shops, Hawai‘i Theater, elegant or hip downtown restaurants, and other historic & urban spots. For those who're beach-bound, you're a 20" bus ride (use the 2L, no transfers!) to Waikīkī Beach, and 15" to Ala Moana Beach Park.
There's no better place to be on O‘ahu for transit.
This central location let's you grab TheBus to other parts of the island... all direct without transfers! Shopping in Kailua (30" on the 57), US history at Pearl Harbor (40" on the 40, 42, 60, or A), or surfing and shave ice in Hale‘iwa (90" on the 52).
Other Things to Note
A lot of folks ask about parking. Parking is tough in downtown and Waikīkī, like any city, but there are some options. And, for arrival/drop-off, there's a nice 'loading zone' in front of the building where you can drop your bags if there're more than one of you.
Our building's first 6 floors are all commercial parking garage. You're welcome to park there. For details, check out Makai Parking—they manage our garage.
We have a spot in the garage that we might be able to share during the workday. Juggle that with your travel plans and the evening discount, and you might be able to get by spending very little on parking.
We love our home, the small mementos and art we've collected over the years, and the tranquility of our little sanctuary in the city. For these reasons, we expect guests to be quiet during night hours (10–7 ish), be reasonably tidy, and be polite. That's all!
Miguel and Aaron were very welcoming, we had a great time staying at their place. Their place is beautiful, very clean and chic. Not to mention the awesome views all around the condo. The only draw back was the parking on weekdays. there is a garage across from the condo that charge $10 at one time, that might be a better choice for overnight parking on weekdays and if you don't want to get up before 7am to move your car. There are plenty of street parkings, but you have to move you car around.
Mahalo Miguel, mahalo Aaron
I found Miguel very helpful, providing prompt answers to the questions I had prior to our arrival. While there, Miguel and Aaron were great hosts. We only saw each of them briefly in the morning. In the evenings, we saw more of them and had more of a chance to ask questions about Honolulu, where to eat, how to get to various places. They were always helpful where they could be.
The room was clean and located right next to our own bathroom. Miguel and Aaron also supplied Wifi, so we could keep in touch with home.
We enjoyed the view from the south western bedroom of an evening, overlooking the harbour from the 23rd floor. During the morning, sunrises were spectacular over the road to Waikiki. There was no problem with the view from any angle. Fantastic!!
The apartment is located on the edge of Honolulu's downtown and very close to Chinatown. We traveled by The Bus and there are heaps of buses going in nearly all directions, all day. A couple of times, we were too late for the bus to return us from Waikiki, but it only cost about $25 to get back to the apartment.
Aaron made us right at home, meeting us at the door and showing us all round the apartment. We had our own key and access was easy.
Miguel was a fantastic host. We were earlier than his checkin time and he went out of his way to ensure we got access to drop off luggage and get on with enjoying Honolulu. The location is hard to beat, the views incredible and easy walking access to everywhere. We just sort of slid in and felt at home the whole time. I would definite do a return booking.
Miguel was great, very accommodating with an extreme flight delay. A great place and a fine location.
Our host Miguel welcomed us warmly, explained that he would be away for a few days but that Aaron would be there, and so it was. We asked a few questions, which were answered perfectly, and we were lent an alarm clock when we found we had left ours at home. It was very easy to find our way about and we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant that our host recommended. We felt comfortable and at home from the first day, and of course we delighted in the wonderful views.
I'm a professor of music and joined the University of Hawai‘i faculty in 2011. I've lived in Boston and grew up in the Midwest. I first visited Airbnb in 2011 as the guest of a wonderfully friendly couple in San Francisco. Now that I'm settled in Honolulu, we're hoping to meet and host some wonderful folks from around the world! Aloha.
My husband is a school teacher in the public schools and, when we're not working, we're often exploring this amazing island of O‘ahu. We're fascinated by Hawaiian culture, the arts, Honolulu's myriad restaurants, hiking and beaches, and spending time with our friends.
