About This Listing
My cool and comfortable floor-through apartment makes a great temporary home in NYC! It comfortably fits two and is located in the heart of Alphabet City. It's an easy walk to most downtown neighborhoods as well as to Brooklyn via the Williamsburg bridge.
My clean, comfortable home is spacious and stylish. It is a typical "railroad" apartment- 4 rooms that run from the front to the back of the building. The windows in the front overlook the street and the windows in the back overlook a small courtyard. It is one flight up from street level (walk up, no elevator). The living room in the front is bright and sunny, especially early in the day. The kitchen in the back is also bright and sunny, especially in the afternoon. The bedroom is quiet, with a full size (double bed). The apartment has wifi, TV and a docking system for an ipod or iphone. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, etc. I have a stove top espresso maker. Sheets and towels are provided.
The apartment is cleaned by a professional every other week during your stay. There is a $80.00 cleaning fee payable in cash upon your arrival.
The bathroom is clean and freshly renovated (1 year ago). There is a full bath and shower with great water pressure. In keeping with the typical railroad design, there is only 1 sink in the apartment, which is in the kitchen.
There is no laundry in the building but there are 3 laundromats within a block of the apartment. Laundry can be dropped off or you can use the coin machines.
Security deposit is $1000.00.
Definitely no smoking allowed in my apartment (not on the fire escape either). Absolutely no overnight guests (aside from the person or people booked to stay) and no parties, although you can have friends or family (people that you know well) stop by for a visit while you are in the apartment with them.
This is my home and I value it greatly! It's a great place to live. I'd like to have guests who enjoy it and value it as I do.
This is a great building. It's small and the residents all know each other. It's very important to be respectful of the neighbors and to be quiet in the hallways.
I'd love it if you could water my plants and flower boxes while I'm away!
Interaction with Guests
The East Village is a great place to stay during your visit to NYC. You can walk from here to everywhere downtown and it's also an easy walk (or bike ride) over the Williamsburg bridge to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I'm steps away from the Lower East Side, blocks away from Clinton Street Bakery and Katz's Deli. There are tons of beautiful community gardens and parks in this neighborhood. Tompkins Square Park (great for people watching, picnics ) is close by and there's always something going on there; farmer's market (Sundays), outdoor movies in the summer, Halloween Dog Parade etc.
The nearest subway station is the F train station at 2nd Ave. and Houston St. Also close by is the J,M,Z station at Delancey and Essex.
The M15, M14A, M9 and M21 buses all run close by.
I'm located very close to Tompkins Square Park. There are many Citibike (bike rental) stations within blocks of my home (for the record I think biking is an amazing way to explore Manhattan and Brooklyn). Close by is the East River Park with a bike path that goes up to 34th Street and then down and all the way around lower Manhattan and all the way up the west side. The nearby Pitt St. pool is a great place to do morning laps.
This area has tons of bars, restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries. It's a great area to wander around, both day and night, and to get lost in the excitement of the city. You'll love it here!
Fee is the best Host I ever seen, I didn't think such kindness could still exist!
We had fresh flowers all over the apartment and above all, it was really clean and cozy - we thought it was better live than in the photos.
The neighberhood was very friendly and nice to walk around; nice restaurants and at a walking distance from the SoHo.
We really felt as if we were really living there, and wished we could stay a lot more!
Thanks Fee for everything and hope seeing you soon, even in Portugal??

I stayed at Fee's apartment for eight days and she was a great host - and, like all the other reviewers say, fantastic at making you feel that her home is your home for the duration you're there. The apartment is clean, comfortable and cosy. Fee filled it with freesia's so there were fresh flowers everywhere. This place is everything you could want from a stay in the East Village.
I had a fantastic time staying in Fee's apartment. The apartment is even brighter than the pictures seem to show and very comfortable. It is close to everything and Fee was a great host providing information on everything from tourist things, lots of eating spots and her local faves as well.
We stayed at Fee's apartment for two weeks in September. It is in such a great location - perfect for walking to China town, Little Italy, Greenwich village, Soho. There is also a subway 10 min walk away (2nd ave) and it's only a 10 min ride up to Times Square and Central Park. The apartment itself is so lovely and cosy, the bed is really comfortable! The building is very quiet, you never hear any neighbours. We felt really safe the whole time we were there. The area is very lively, we found it could get a bit noisey at weekends when people were walking home at night but during the week it was fine. There is such a fantastic range of restaurants and bars you are spoilt for choice - and all very affordable! There are some really cool shops in the area too! Fee was such a lovely, friendly host, she gave us so much advice on where to go when we arrived and through out our trip. She also wrote us a big list of restaurant recommendations. We are really glad we decided to stay in an apartment rather than a hotel. All in all a fantastic experience and we look forward to our next trip to NYC! Rachel & Andy
We stayed at Fee's apartment eight days in may.
She is kind and helpful. Answered very quick and was very patient about our questions and doubts. During the days in NY she interested about our stayed and necessities and she wrote an amazing list of restaurants. She decorated the house with natural flowers and leave some coffee and milk in the fridge.
This charm apartment is confortable and with a good situation. The underground is about 10 min. walking and there are a lot of restaurants, laundries and supermarkets in the area.
The neighborhood is full of live and not very noisy. We slept all the nights without problem.
If we return to the city, we'll repeat our experience in this cool apartment! A real newyorker stay ;-)
This NYC pad is so great! Fee, the hostess, is very accommodating, thoughtful and attentive. My wife and I stayed for a week and couldn't have been happier with the comfort of her place. A couple nice touches that Fee had for our stay:
-Fresh flowers everywhere! My wife and I always have fresh flowers in our home so it made us feel at home just that much more.
-A bottle of wine upon arrival! So nice to get in after traveling and relax with a glass of wine.
-A list of recommended restaurants. Very helpful.
-Slippers. There is a shoes off policy and Fee provided slippers. Although my wife and I brought our own. If you know the streets of NYC you know they are covered in dog poop, pee, and people barf. I'm not kidding it's all over the streets. So knowing that you are walking around on clean floors at your pad adds another layer of comfort. My wife and I always travel with our slippers anyway so I would recommend bringing your favorite pair.
Overall, Fee's pad is like staying at your sister's house. Clean, stylish, and comfortable.
About the Host, Fee
I am a 30 something NY area native. I love this city! I have traveled extensively and have lived and worked in London, Milan, Paris, Sydney, Dublin, Vienna, and Hamburg. I have been in NYC on and off since I was 16 years old. I've never been a host before but I think I'll be good at it. I've traveled a lot and stayed in many temporary apartments or rented rooms so I have lots of experience as a guest that will make me a very conscious host.
