Beautiful house in quiet surroundings in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, only 15 minutes from Reykjavík center (by car) and 30 minutes from Keflavík Airport. 1 double bed + 1 single bed.
The house was originally built in 1907. It's big and isolated but centrally located.
There's a big and beautiful garden for guests to enjoy the evening sun.
Interaction with Guests
We will be home every night.
The house is in walking distance from the famous viking village, the local geothermal swimming pool, the Hellisgerði elf garden, and many of the town's most interesting museums. The town is home to one of the most historic fishing and trading ports in the country, and the boardwalk is beautiful in the evening sun. The house is close to supermarkets, banks, restaurants and pubs.
The house is in walking distance from the Airport shuttle stop and the central bus station, with connections to Reykjavík centre every 15 minutes.
GoogleMaps can bring you to this lovely house (we rented a car), set in a safe neighbourhood where doors can be left unlocked. The room for 3 is very cosy and warm (with heater in winter), and even more so with the 3 cute little dogs in the house. Bathroom, shower room and kitchen are free for use and very well maintained. Unfortunately, we did not spend much time with Oskar, but her mum Jonina showed us great Icelandic hospitality. She kept us updated with road conditions, recommended us places to go in Reykjavik, lent us rain gear for the stormy weather, and even helped us shift our car when we had some problem with the ice (superb driver she is!). We also met another guest there (Jeff), who was very nice and helpful! There are actually 3 rooms for rent in this lovely house, so there's a good chance of you meeting new people and making new friends! Great location (supermarket 10 min drive away), great facilities and great people - a place I can call home in this icy faraway land! Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed our stay at Óskar's and Jonina's beautiful house. The room was nice and cosy and hosts were very welcoming, especially doggies. Good location with all essential infrastructure nearby (shops, bus stop, library etc.) Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to stay for reasonable price.
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying with Oskar and Jonina. Completely unexpectedly they were extremely generous and hospitable with us. They were beyond kind and far exceeded all possible expectations for a lovely stay. I highly recommend staying with this special family. We certainly will be the next time we visit our new favorite foreign land.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

super good host
Had a lovely time at Óskar's house in Hafnarfjordur. The house is nice and warm, the bed was really comfortable, and the room had a great view of the town down to the harbour. Lots of interesting art on the walls and a really friendly, well-behaved dog too!
Supermarket, post office, tourist information, and geothermal pool within a few minutes' walking distance. Bus stop close by for getting into Reykjavik (20-30 min bus ride) and beyond.
The house is easy to find from Hotel Viking, where the flybus from the airport stops.
Didn't have too much interaction with Óskar - he left us to our own devices, but he was around in the evenings.

I live with my mother, Jónína, who works as a social worker. We've been renting out the spare room in our house for years, but we're new to airbnb.com. We love hosting foreign travelers in our house during their stay in Iceland.
